| The first payday. Tsunehiro heads to a large fishing gear store for the first time with Hana and Kozue. Kozue kindly guides the clueless Tsunehiro, and he starts to feel as if it's a date. |

| Pay debts, asshole! EEEEEEHHHHHHHHH? Sasaki gets his first paycheck, and immediately blows it on random fishing gear in an attempt to impress Kozue, who later turns out to already like Hana. We have apparently now genre shifted to cringe comedy. I bet Takaaki's regretting taking on his debt more and more every day. Because of how fast it moved and the other characters just showing up out of nowhere, I thought the scene of buying the expensive reel was a dream sequence for a second. |

| The writers really are trying to torpedo their own MC here. There is very little to like about this man, after last week I thought he would start to start to develop a bit but in this episode he screws over the person who helped him twice. Hana and chill fishing scenes continue to carry the show. |

Dude is in so much debt that collectors are chasing after him, he gets his first paycheck and instead of making a payment/coming up with a payment plan, he blows it on top of the line fishing equipment that he doesn’t need?? Like I get that he wants to join the group and be closer to Kozue and shit but this dude needs a financial literacy class BADLY. Hard to watch him be this stupid. |

| He spent almost all of his salary in less than a week and didn't even pay off his debts. Tsunehiro's behavior here is hard to accept, especially since he had been making progress, only to relapse again. At least Takaaki plans to withhold his salary next time. With Tsunehiro having little affection for himself and often feeling lonely, it's no wonder he misinterpreted Kozue's behavior and got his hopes up, but he went overboard with that spending. Meanwhile, it seems like Kozue might have some affection for Hana, maybe even romantically, unless it's purely a close friendship. Hopefully, we'll see more of Kozue's story and get a clearer idea of his feelings. |

| 1. Does Tsunehiro even like fishing enough to spend 200,000+ yen on equipment? That's like 1,300 USD?! He really didn't seem to be that into it. 2. Let's ignore for a second the fact that he's ignoring his debts. Is he even paying Takaaki? This man got a job for him and let him stay at his place. Is he paying rent? Does Tsunehiro even do chores at home? Shouldn't he at least get a gift for him, as a thank-you? 3. "He's gonna die soon anyway" is not a good excuse for this kind of behavior, because Tsunehiro himself hasn't brought it up. If he's really thinking that, he wouldn't be so hesitant to make that purchase, and he definitely wouldn't feel bad about it afterwards. Tsunehiro feeling all giddy and getting ideas about Nishimori is kind of sad and sympathetic, but it doesn't exactly make him more likable, either. Meh, I'm fine with it. I'm struggling to think of a reason to keep watching, honestly. I guess the art looks nice and sometimes gets goofy. |

| It feels weird that I'm still not sympathetic to a guy who has a terminal illness, is in debt and had his home demolished. On the positive side, damn I wish I had a friend like Takaaki. Dude gives and gives. |
| Another week, another episode of Tsunehiro getting cooked by everyone lol, last time I defended him but ngl it’s a bit hard to this time, bro got his first paycheck and blew it all because of a cute girl, then he got his second paycheck and blew it all because of the allure of an expensive piece of equipment, yeah this dude ain’t very smart lol. That being said, it’s not enough to make me hate the man, I just found these shenanigans funny which is the intended purpose I think, guess it had the opposite effect on many others because they already didn’t like him, understandable I guess lol. And I kinda feel bad that I was sus of Kozue early in the episode, I thought for a second she was a snake trying to make Tsunehiro buy stuff for her, but maybe it just seemed that way because he’s so easy lol, Kozue just wanted Tsunehiro to be honest about what he likes which was revealed near the end, now I just wonder if there’s any actual yuri happening with her and Hana lol. And I guess Tsunehiro did actually start being true to himself seeing how excited he was by that new reel, he was like me when a new archival Grateful Dead release drops lol, it’s nice seeing him really happy about something despite the bad financial decision. |

| Could they have wedged another romcom or harem cliche in with a crowbar? And that 3D animation was really distracting this episode. I've been giving it a pass so far but it's making me irritable. |
| His housing was demolished and he was chased through the streets by debt collectors...and is still in massive debt. And then he goes and does this effectively on a whim or impulse, and to basically show off and impress a girl he just met and barely knows, and feel the temporary fleeting high of being a big spender for a day and be seen by others holding an expensive piece of equipment. It's no wonder at all that this guy is a compulsive gambler who lost all his money that way between pachinko parlors and the stock market. His terminal health issues are an entirely separate matter, but whatever the future holds for the longevity of his lifespan, as long as he is still around at least, he really needs to start reining in his addictive personality. He has a psychopath's level of serial impulsivity. |

Being pressured by Kozue to buy all of that stuff from a one sided love only to be justifiably yelled at by Takaaki and then do it again with that super expensive reel is quite something. She even told him that she liked Hana even if the latter is way too busy fishing. Also, Hiro not lending Takaaki the reel at the end was kinda funny. |

I think that's kind of the point. Despite what he claiming, he clearly getting into fishing and enjoying himself.
Takaaki's story about getting into fishing getting his first part time job and spending a bunch of money on gear, kind of mirrors what Tsunehiro going through right now.
(Obvi the fact that he is not paying his debt sucks and it is mirrored in Tsunehiro's regret.) The fact that the show is treating it as a joke, is clear that it's supposed to be lighthearted. Whether you treat it that way is up to you.
IMO I think Hana is into Tsunehiro and Nishimori is obvi into Hana. I think Nishimori is just trying to keep Tsunehiro and Hana from spending time together. See Hana's annoyance when Nishimori steals him (Tsunehiro) away to teach him this episode instead of Hana. I think you could also interpret this as Hana thinking its weird he is flustered around Nishimori so idk.
Idk how to feel about potential budding romance plot between high school student and college student. Japanese media am I right.

| It looks like Sasaki is finally starting to really enjoy fishing. Not to mention how he spent big $$$ after all that temptation and despite debt to Takaaki. Sasaki was simping hard for Kozue HARD, but turns out Kozue is into Hana. -_- Producers be like, if we can't bait people to watch this "fishing anime", let's bait who's left with "yuri bait". I can already imagine a couple of people on MAL going for it! |
| Tsunehiro caught a crush on Kozue. I never noticed her in previous episodes. Anyway, she is dangerous in that Tsune goes out of budget thanks to her. But at least, he gets top fishing equipment and the ROI will be great. |
| Tsunehiro's first payday, and he's already thinking of gambling it all away, yelp. Too bad for him, the girls of Hana and Kozue have their own plan in mind... The pseudo "date" with the girls at the fishing shop sure has Hiro deep with his pockets spending anything and everything that they need and don't need, which sets back Takaaki's repayment plan for Hiro, it's a bad first dump. Even more with the many fishing techniques, Kozue is just unhinged when it comes to drop fishing since she doesn't like dirty work and blood on her clothings, and the hints between her and Hiro are definitely only limits to fishing and nothing else. Takaaki sharing a bit of his life about his history with fishing and his brother which inspired him the same way, and at least Hiro manage to catch some mackerel. But once again, due to temptation and extra thanks to Kozue's convincing, another paycheck down the train for expensive equipment...and it's his new baby of all things. Man, I don't know what to think of what's going through Tsunehiro's mind... |
