This final episode was great but it was also bittersweet as Atri and Natsuki did meet up again but in a virtual world. I had hoped that Natsuki would've ended up with Minamo and had a kid or 2 especially after Atri asked Minamo to take care of him but it looks like Minamo ended up getting with someone else. At least Natsuki was able to work on humanoid research and give rights to them. Atri in the meantime was able to provide power to the island and was the first of many Eden islands that helped humanity survive.

While I felt that the ending was a bit rushed I still enjoyed this series overall and therefore give it a 8/10. I may check out the visual novel that this is based on someday too.

This anime has, from start to finish, just felt like a bootleg Key anime. Clearly going for the same structure and same sort of emotional beats, but just lacking the understanding of why those things worked so well in those famous Key anime like Clannad and Little Busters. Just trying a little too hard to force the emotional moments to land as they should and hence falling short of its own ambition.

6/10, not bad but not really worth watching when other, much better anime exist with this exact same narrative structure.

I'm so fucking conflicted right now.
This anime started good, it was fun, but after the part were that dude that wanted to kill Atri appeared it all went to shit.

My main problem here is Natsuki, dude's a total dumbass, they make us believe that he is a genius, but then he begins to fall in love with the loli robot and begins to act like she is truly human, that would be fine, but, yeah, being in love with her, and crying because she acted like an actual robot for a couple of days, also he really thought in making Atri not get into Eden so she could stay with him forever, like, he was about to put Atri before the fate of humanity... fuck Natsuki.

And fuck this ending, that entire 70 years in the future stuff was shit, Ryuuji's granddaughter shows us that in the future fucking humanoids is fine (100% sure that's because of something Natsuki did/said), and Natsuki ending up in a fucking VR world to stay with Atri even tho the dude is about to die and he is ok on leaving behind his wife (who I suppose is Minamo since they didn't care to mention her name) , children (probably) and grandchild on his last moments... absolute trash.

6/10 mostly because of the 1st half being ok, Minamo being best girl, and the animation being nice, everything in the 2nd half is trash.
To think I bought the game around ep5 because I liked this, what a waste of money, and time.

PD: I want to clarify I have nothing against poor Atri, it's all Natsuki's fault.
@StallionXD yeah like why you are leaving your wife and your children for some fucking robot that was your crush 70 yeas ago. Like bro move on.

The final episode really went all out with some new anime-original OSTs and even bringing out notable OSTs from the VN namely Days of Love, When I See The Sparkle Of Your Tears, and Light Across the Seas. It's nice that we get to see the successful lives of the cast after the the time-skip animated though, its a shame that they didn't animate that one scene from the VN from the time-skip.

Overall, the adaptation is not bad and quite impressive that they managed to adapt the entire story into 13-episodes. I imagine if they weren't restricted from the 13-episodes, the anime would be much well paced, more fleshed out and more amazing than it currently is. And to those who enjoyed the anime and haven't read the VN, I strongly recommend picking up the VN, its truly worth it.

yeahhhh the ending luckily I was expecting it even though it was still well... make me sad. but after the timeskip finally, humans can develop far thanks to Nonko and also Atri who became the admin of Eden. then the successors of each character are great. like who would have thought that only 70 years have been that advanced? and even some characters have grandchildren, wow they got married! happy ending.
I really like the concept of the AI (Atri) looking for a purpose before hibernation and what it means to choose feelings like humans. then Atri who is really energetic
This anime is very little known and even in MAL it only has 11K viewers??? really underrated for me.

i never know the vn, but it's kinda disappointing for me as i was hoping it to have a lower stakes like plastic memories or something, i mean the base plot was already set itself, an android girl, one legged man, remote island, some students with hope, childhood friend who's probably had feeling for the protagonist? and they chose the safest plot for some reason by having atri temporarily hibernate... i thought the previous episode was set up for something when atri seems close to her end but nope, it was fixed in the same episode, she just need to be charged

I don't buy this kind of end. 70 year timeskip, was Natsuki not already half dead?

Atri was needed to administrate 1 Eden, but after that they build more Eden facilities who would probably need an administrator on each.
Atri could have been released from the job a lot earlier if that is true.

I have enjoyed the early episodes and parts of Atri's backstory, but the scientist appeared and everything went downhill.
They should have activated Eden without needing to sacrifice Atri, any smartphone computer could have done the job of administration.

The romantic story was completely blown out of proportion by half assed sci fi elements that doesn't even make sense.

I haven't played the VN but recognised the song. It's funny how mediocre the show's OP and ED are by comparison.

I feel like I've seen a lot of final episode time skips lately. The science stuff and associated drama all seemed dumb and contrived. Not too bad overall though; 6/10.

That was not satisfying at all. The emotional climax didn't really hit for me because the conflict was just introduced in the previous episode. Then the aftermath was rushed. It showed what happened to other characters, except Natsuki. He just told what happened to him in the past 70 years to Atri. And that ending was predictable.

Maybe I just expected too much from this since VN readers hyped it up.

ATRI: My Dear Moments starts off weak, lacking depth and with a pace that nearly made me drop it several times. The initial plot felt dragged, and the antagonist was so poorly developed that he bordered on ridiculousness, without presenting a real or complex threat. This alone cast doubt on the quality of the narrative, making it seem like just another generic sci-fi story about humanoids and machines.

However, as the story progresses towards its final moments, it gains new momentum, especially when it introduces the question of ATRI, the humanoid, having a "heart." This idea, which at first seems silly or overly sentimental, ends up taking on deeper meaning. The story manages to make the viewer develop empathy for ATRI, even though she is a machine. Aristotle said that man is a rational animal, capable of loving and wishing good for others because of what they share—reason. Here, ATRI emulates human emotions, creating the illusion that she also possesses this rationality and, by extension, a soul or "heart."

From a Thomistic perspective, following Aristotelian philosophy, we could say that the show touches on what Saint Thomas Aquinas considered the core of human nature: the desire for eternity and immortality. ATRI, a machine, is limited by her nature, but the fact that she carries Natsuki's memories and continues to live with them in a database after his death shows an attempt to transcend this material limitation. The poetic final line, "O time, linger, how beautiful you are," reflects this yearning for eternity, an attempt to preserve a beautiful moment, even though it is impossible to do so in the physical realm.

The highlight of the anime is this reflection on what makes us feel empathy for beings that imitate human emotions. ATRI, despite being a humanoid, manages to touch the emotions of the viewer because she emulates human feelings so well, making us question whether it is rationality itself or the capacity to feel and express affection that makes us worthy of compassion and love. Natsuki's death, although sad, is a sacrifice he makes so that ATRI can have a future, even if that future is merely an accumulation of data and memories.

The ending, though melancholic due to Natsuki's imminent death, delivers a touching message about the human desire for eternity. Even though Natsuki cannot remain alive, he creates a legacy for ATRI, with their memories eternally intertwined. It’s a bittersweet conclusion, but with a touch of beauty, especially as it grants ATRI something usually reserved for humans: the chance to "live" eternally through memories.

In short, ATRI: My Dear Moments, despite starting with a weak narrative and a villain more annoying than threatening, manages to redeem itself in the end, bringing deep reflections on the nature of empathy, the soul, and what it truly means to "live." The show, in the end, offers more than just the simple cliché of machines being treated as humans. It makes us reflect on our own humanity and on what it means to seek eternity, even if it’s in the simple desire to keep a beautiful moment alive while time continues its relentless course.

Atri became so close connected to Natsuki, I am so glad he never give up on her, even if he had so many chances for that. After 70 years passed, Natsuki and other’s plans went on and Ririka’s granddaughter succeeded to launch a rocket in space.

I hope it will also be a second season.

Sorry, but that's just a weird ending for me.... 😅
What just happened? lmao

Brain extracted into data to be able to live in VR?
Uhh, sure. lol (which is a rather fun concept, but will never be one)

5/10 because I prefer the Minamo route. 😤
But the enjoyment is 7-8/10.
The only problem is the ending. It was like a rushed ending.

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

@Alfredo-Sauce Actually, that's what happens in the VN. Minamo marries and supports Natsuki till he dies of old age and then reunites with Atri. I think the writers changed it, because the VN ending got a lot of hate for throwing Minamo on the sideline like that. I personally didn't have a problem with it, because Natsuki and Minamo still had support and understanding between each other. Natsuki made it clear he would likely not have feelings for Minamo, but Minamo still chose to support him regardless.

Anyways, this was a really terrible adaptation. I feel things were changed for the worse after Ep 7. Natsuki's development was completely cut out, and so were his interactions with the real Atri post realizing she has no heart (even though she does) as in the VN, she's the one who forcefully sets him on to live a life full of purpose and fulfill his promise to her. This was super rushed, and I don't understand why since the VN isn't that long with a single linear progression. The VN was much more immersive in every aspect, so I definitely recommend checking it out.

This is a great finale, it hits right in the feels.

I have a fair amount of criticism about some episodes of this anime, but overall... I think it is a solid 8/10.

There are a lot of things left to be answered, but you want those, just play the VN, I think.

Honestly I'm sad it ends here, I wasn't exactly anxious for every single episode, but I've grown to care about those characters, but everything has to end at some point, so it is what it is.

Also, a great ending song, or should I say, high performance!

I'm a bit confused about parts from the end. Natsuki's granny didn't lie and she had boobie-trapped Atri so Atri would lose memories and not be able to get out of capsule EVEN after completing her mission? What a bitch...
Natsuki couldn't physically get Atri out of capsule after 70 years, but still managed to upload Atri into this VR-world where the two can be together forever? Don't know how he can do that but not open the capsule. I'm more confused about Natsuki. Did he upload himself too (thus become immortal)? Or will he stick around with Atri before he dies of old age in real world?

@StallionXD Minamo married someone else, not mentioned in the anime and Natsuki said he did not have time to get married and things like that.
I agree about Minamo was being done dirty in this epilogue, she was apparently someone important at first and then reduced to almost nothing in the end....
I like time skips but here it was badly done. What was the point of showing them as adults but not showing their face, for real?
I don´t understand what they were trying to portray.
And yes humanoides later are fine and Natsuki became a 70 year old ojisan who end up with Atri in Eden, as virtual data.....
I know Atri was older than him but sorry this couple is still weird...

@Phantom_373 Yes, it was very rushed, people said this show is like Nagi no Asukara and not at all Nagi no Asukara was great and they had a good development.

I was not a big fan of this kind of ending... It looked like the story was starting to go somewhere, but then granny just put a stupid wrench in everything and it ended suddenly. The projected future and then "oh nothing we planned really worked out, so we just live in VR now, oh well," was really awkward.

Plus the whole Eden things being like power plants or something that got spammed everywhere was not explained at all and didn't make much sense. What's the point of wasting an extremely unoptimized human-flawed robot for some supercomputer brain, when it's main usefulness would be socialization, and it'd be a terrible fit for some machine, which should just have it's own tuned AI.

The whole point of making life-like robots with emotions etc, is to interact with them, they'd be suboptimal at any other task, and they'd need to be treated with care because unlike organics, they don't heal when damaged. Even the thought of her getting scuffed up feet at the beginning of the show made me go yikes, cuz like, you can't easily repair damaged artificial skin.

That felt odd and less than impactful. The music was the most impactful part. I enjoyed the show overall but the ending left me with the impression that more could have been fleshed out before reaching this conclusion.

It's a typical occurrence for a niche, Sci-fi show to be rushed despite the narrative seemingly wanting for a more expansive story. Niche and limited in budget.. naturally this is the typical results for Sci-fi productions.

I still have hope that once again a large production Sci-fi anime with less limitations will come my way. The last time I got this was sort of an anime, but not exactly. It was more a Video Game/VN; it was 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim (2019) which btw won many awards and recognition within the industry and Sci-fi community.

After so many years, finally we get PlaMemo's good ending.

I remember when this VN launched, I haven't had time to read VNs for a while now so I couldn't get into this despite it being from one of my favorite companies, so I'm glad it got an adaptation that's actually enjoyable. If there's any VN readers out there that coulld tell me if it was a decent enough adaptation or if there's enough missing out that reading the VN is worth it, that'd be great.

I loved that despite Natsuki being between 85 and 90 years old, he never forgot Atri and came up with that idea to be with her at the end of his life. Atori may live forever in the virtual world, I hope she finds more people also so she will not be alone anymore.
Atori really cared so much of others, that she wilfully sacrificed herself for the good of her society. Atori is wonderful I think. She may has a robot body, but she inside is a lot more human than most real humans.
I wish they release the visual novel on Switch.

I'm kind of confused. So...is Natsuki dead now and this is just a simulation he made of himself (like the one of his grandmother)? Is Atri still stuck in that tube in the dark forever now after they shut down the island and it's just her program living with his simulation in a computer? All of humanity is living on these little artificial islands now? I still don't have a clue what the point of the rocket launch was or what it accomplished. I really enjoyed the series up to this point but I didn't really like these last two episodes very much. I wanted to learn why the sea level rose and thought maybe they'd find a way to reverse it. It seems like there could have been so much more story to tell.

Best episode of this Anime:

Episode 13 along with it's ending : Nope
Episode 10 : Hell yeah!

I feel like this anime was great but only up till episode 10. After that it only started going downhill. The ending was extremely rushed and I feel very unsatisfied with the bittersweet ending.

Rating : 6.5/10 solely for the unsatisfactory ending. Else I would've easily given at least 8.5.

I liked the visuals, great drawings, colors and animations really caught my attention how good this anime looks. The part I liked the most was when they had to find a way to get electricity for the classroom, that was the highlight.

As for the character development, Atri looks like she's loosening up over time and becoming more independent, which is good, although the change is subtle but deep in content, so it's fine by me. The relationship with the MC also has its interesting nuances.

I thought the evil characters were superficial and kind of rushed into the story, as if I would have predicted a similar infatuation with one of his creations in the past, but it didn't come up.

The ending I didn't like that much, it felt rushed and uninteresting, the cute young robot girl just ended up being imprisoned by an old woman (the MC's grandmother) in what would be an old woman's technological contraption. The solution to rebuild the world was just pre-made by Grandma and they just had to find it and plug in the batteries, no effort involved other than dealing with the romantic separation from the robo-waifu love interest. That was kind of a letdown because it prevented the MC from developing a relationship with Atri and finding a solution together, but I could see why they did it as a way to tell a tragic love story of separation and how about technology is not a replacement for a heart and how this affects the mc with his own disability and dependency which if true is a great idea for a story but I think the execution let my expectations down a bit. At first I thought that the MC going away to study would start a new arc of the story and that would involve some sort of challenge to their relationship that would be a bit more interesting, but the story took a turn and it just became Atri being locked away.

Because of all this I can give it a 7/10 overall. greati visuals and the story was good but the ending was rushed and uninteresting and some characters needed a bit more substance imo they felt like props some times.

Ps (I haven't played the original material, so my opinion is influenced by that)
