I have a feeling the author of this series loves food. Almost every episode has one related to them including this.

Since the kidnapping incident, seems everything is back to normal. They're also no longer stuck behind classroom walls and is around Summer time. Osani wears a dress this episode so it's a refreshing look. As this show is drawing close to its close, it seems Osani and Kobato are closer than ever. The mystery element from this episode still involved with the kidnapping so this seems like an extended storyline. Still crazy what happened before.

Who knew such evil was lurking behind such pretty eyes.. absolute mind fuck of an episode. There’s nothing normal about Kobato and Osanai and there never will be. To think she planned her entire kidnapping to get Isawa arrested is some dastardly shit. Bravo writing.

So every thing that they’ve done this summer including the desert tour was meticulously planned out by Osanai to get the optimal conditions for the kidnapping.. I can’t even imagine the level of planning that had to go into that and props to the author for even coming up with this. I thought it was weird that Osanai wanted Kobato to do the desert tour, but never would’ve guessed this was the reason.

Getting Sanae indebted to her and having her pull the strings from inside the group is also crazy. You almost wonder if Osanai had been planning this since middle school lmao.

And she would’ve gotten away with it too if it wasn’t for that meddling mom of hers 😂. Mom letting the fact that Osanai had been up late at night on the phone was the final nail in the coffin, guess there’s just only so many variables you can account for. Chilling end to the episode tho, almost scared of Osanai now.

Cinematography and scene composition in this episode was also incredible. For 25 minutes of Kobato and Osanai sitting at a table it went by in a flash because of the direction and buildup to her confession.

The climax of the Summer Limited Tropical Parfait matter is Osanai digging into more sweets, and Kobato finally opening up to her and explaining the entire ordeal. However, the mystery of Kengo staking his chances into Isawa Hasemi's drug gang whilst getting his sister out with him being an extra help and Osanai just being at Berry Berry by coincidence, even on her casual clothing, of which she was wearing her summer uniform to be able to stand out and make the kidnapping scene a lot easier to process. But things like the long message creates doubt that she was gone within a specific time, and moreover, the entire Sweets Selection: Summer plan that clearly depicted her eventual kidnapping, more than the various locations showcasing different kinds of desserts.

Sure, Osanai may've taken Kobato for a ride around the city, but it's a way of testing him to see his response towards her cryptic messages, and when the truth gets clarified, she apologizes that it turned out exactly as it did, but with a wee bit more injury and an old grudge that she just doesn't want to talk about. She's the mastermind of the entire plan, yet Kobato played it along with her after seeing her mother and her body language towards her own daughter, to ultimately arrest an old enemy and get Isawa behind bars. The one factor that he could not see through however, is Kengo's younger sister Sanae herself being the insider and willing to be her confidante to end the ordeal between mortal enemies once and for all.

Devious Osanai being in complete control of the narrative, ownself kidnapping ownself, weaving the people towards her bidding. Smart girl.

Just wrap it up Jougorou. Your ass will never, and I repeat, NEVER become this ordinary person you want to be. The fact you put the dots together from all this actually just mind-blowing to me. Just like any other time.

Osanai ain't no better either. To think that she made this entire sweet trip to get Jougorou himself to put the dots together is even more mind-blowing. Meanwhile we all thought it was just her being her gluttonous self again lol.

Not everything was explained ofc, but from we did figure out, this girl Osanai is fucking evil.

Yep, very ordinary thing to do. Planning a whole kidnapping of yourself and having your friend figure out your entire plan over a summer sweet tour trip eating all the sweets in town. Still though man I want to eat try all those foods/sweets as well with them. They all seem so freaking good. Though idk about that summer tropical parfit. Maybe a bit too much.

I love when the innocent-looking characters are the most dangerous ones. The depiction of the wolf whom is Osanai is a very interesting one in that she seemingly plans well ahead and makes sure to have near full control of whatever situation is at hand. That being said, I like that she still commends Kobato for being better at more deliberate decisionmaking than her own trigger-happy initatives...I mean, he still IS the depicted fox in the series, after all.

Kobato kun once said "Nowadays, Osanai san really only ever shows any kind of happiness when there's something sweet in front of her. But she wasn't like that before. Osanai san showed the most joy while beating those who had done her harm to a pulp." And we got to see what he meant in this episode. This girl is yabai, complete nuts. She planned the whole thing to destroy Isawa Hasemi and was enjoying her deluxe summer parfait after doing so.

Really well crafted little mystery here, with Yuki being the mastermind behind her own kidnapping. I loved how the sweets adventure was so important to build up to this moment, as it made some of the previous episodes feel even better with this reveal. Really happy with the kidnapping's conclusion, and I think that this episode solidified this show as one of the best of the season. Just one episode left now.

With the show holding off the true nature of Osanai for so long, it was worth it. It's the best episode thus far.

she's more of a sociopath than a psychopath. because from the way she's acting I don't think she saw anything wrong with what she did . from manipulating her best friend to getting a teenager charged for kidnap and ransom . with that cute smile on her face . yeah definitely a sociopath

Yeah, now I know why these two put so much emphasis on becoming "ordinary". It's more about helping themselves from doing.. refraining from doing whatever the hell Osanai did. I don't know what happened in the past, but it has to be something gut-wrenching for Osanai which kind of eventually pushed her to play kidnapping lol.

Though the way she was listening to Kobato while sipping tea and smiling as nonchalantly as someone could, it goes to show just how deceiving the looks can be sometimes. Really though, japanese high-schoolers in anime are a different breed xD

Some things were predictable, some were not.

Like, to me it was obvious Osanai wanted to be kidnapped that day, but I never thought she planned it so early on or that her plan intended to manipulate Kobato.

So what the actual F happened between Osanai and Isawa??? "She's a bad girl" - That's it? For Osanai to want her to get prison time this badly, I suppose Isawa must've done some terrible shit, no?

As I suspected, Isawa is a juvenile so she won't be punished as hard as an adult would, but still, the punishment is still severe. I did some basic research and:

In Japan, a juvenile convicted of a serious offense like ransom kidnapping might face 5 to 15 years of imprisonment, depending on the level of harm involved and the court's discretion.
For less severe cases (e.g., kidnapping without serious harm to the victim), the sentence might be closer to the 3 to 5-year range. This can be reduced further due to certain circumstances.

Basically, Osanai made sure Isawa would get jail time!

I find it hard to sympathize with Osanai without knowing if Isawa deserved it. Without context it indeed seems like Isawa is the victim (as she claimed when arrested) and now she'll get punished even harder for something she didn't do! Hopefully Osanai explains it.

P.S I still find it dumb how Osanai put herself in danger there. She also got lucky with coded message which is stupid. Like, relying on luck??? What if she failed to send the text? What if Isawa snapped and stabbed her to death? What if Isawa gets madder and will plot her revenge on Osanai whenever she gets out of jail? I mean, sure, she assaulted and kidnapped Osanai regardless of Osanai wanting the kidnapping to happen, but the whole fake ransom demand is what makes it unfair and cruel. Isawa will find out she was framed, so who will she blame? - Osanai. So, you either pray Isawa rehabilitates in prison, or constantly watch your back after 5-15 years since Isawa may be there ready to stab you to death in revenge.

Mastermind, Osanai...Holy shit. She was manipulating everyone from the start like pawns on a chessboard. When Sanae threatened Osanai saying "Help me get out of the group or I turn you over to Isawa Hasemi", Osanai pulled a reverse uno and was like "Nuh uh, you work for me now". If she was so inclined, she could also easily destroy Sanae if she wanted to with how much dirt with the physical evidence she has on her currently, with the only thing preventing that being their prior agreement to put a mutual enemy away for a long time.

I'd hate to get on Osanai's bad side. She could probably plot a locked room murder and make it look like a suicide after being a dozen times from behind. Not being satisfied for just getting Isawa Hasemi off her back, Osanai wanted to cause maximum damage by elevating the charges as payback, while ruining any hope of Isawa's future rehabilitation in the process with a serious criminal record, maybe even being charged as an adult. This ain't just cough syrup and sleeping pills anymore. Even if/when Isawa eventually gets out after a few years (with her high school years completely obliterated), she'll find it difficult to land an honest job beyond that of a cashier clerk with that permanent record that'll stay with her for life. Can't say she doesn't deserve it though, after putting the knife to Osanai's throat, and was likely going to stab/slash her face, potentially permanently scarring her.

Osanai is quite the actress too...I don't even know if those tears were genuine or crocodile tears...probably the latter. That is one scary young lady. Clever fox Kobato was 100% correct in likening Osanai to a vicious wolf. She would stalk her prey lost in the forest territory that she controls...you can't see her, but she can see you.

It's a waste of his talents to simply try and be "normal". Cold cases would be nothing to Kobato if he seriously aimed to become a police detective after graduating high school, if he's this good after exposing Osanai's well-thought-out scheme to not only save herself, but give payback a hundred times-fold.

Seeing as how Kobato knew Osanai's nature back in middle school, I'm willing to bet he assumed she just mellowed out by high school. But evidently not.

I'm curious as to why Osanai introduced Kobato to Sanae as an "acquaintance" and not a "friend" after knowing each other for so long, and everything they've been through. It's clear that he cares about her, and Kobato is the closest thing to a friend she has at school, from what we've seen at least.

One more episode. I'm a little bummed out. This slow-burn series that cumulated in this ultimate revelation made it well worth it, but I still want more. Here's hoping for a part 2 announcement at the end of the final episode.

And this is why you don't mess with Osanai. I mean we all knew that she's pretty fucked up, what really sold the kidnapping twist to me was that she was already craftily planning in earlier episodes without us suspecting a thing. That childlike enthusiasm during the sweets tour concealed her true intentions almost fully. The stark contrast is nice. Tho there were instances where we had glimpse at the evil within Osanai and some foreshadowing.

Nice stuff. Last three episodes really bumped this series up imo.

Alright so... I could not help but wonder of which between them who had won such an intriguing battle of wits: While I could fairly notice that Osanai has had the upperhenad since the beginning, to say Kobato had lost it was clearly unfair. Remember he had no evidence to begin with, he only relied on abduction when he explained, well, the abduction of Osanai as he could hardly have the evidence, only clues based on the causality of what had been going. And not to mention that had he owned those evidence, he would have pinpointed it in the exact same way he did when Osanai gave it away, thus was completely intrigued whether he could've solved it.

This brings me back to my presumption since the beginning: I had the exact same thoughts and speculations as Kobato only for me to get stumped after the given evidence, realizing that he, a trickster, had been tricked by Osanai's tricks, leading me to conclude that... these characters, they were the furthest that is from the definition of an ordinary citizen, let alone petite bourgoise (shoushimin) or what ever ephonymous term you might come up with.

But still, after all, this was a satiating and intriguing episode. I saw a comment that this scene was heavily inspired from the encounter between Moriarty and Holmes as the forrmer laughed when the latter began to explain his "speculations" before giving out the actual evidence to him so he could have solved it soon after that.

@Sigmar-Unberogen I believe that message was pre-planned or noted before she sent it to them, the same way she did with the voice changer and recorder thing. So, it really was by luck, and the fact I myself was terrified after noticing this... it honestly gave me goosebumps because these hardly were luck.

This was demonstrated by the fact that Kobato had pointed out it was impossible to type it quickly. So, the only possible was that she only had to send the message as it would have been more possible had she planned the message from the beginning. And yes, this really was terrifyingly calculated...

Also, Isawa and Yuki may have agreed to kee distance between both so it's clear that Isawa wouldn't get murdered nor stabbed. The only possible reason here was bcause Isawa played the fiddle role in that group, and she is a sycophant which means Osanai could easily user her that way.

Kobato was racking her brain trying to figure out Osanai's plan.
Osani: This melon is so good.

Osanai is too dangerous and vengeful, all while hiding behind a mask of being a sweet and innocent girl who wouldn't hurt anyone. She tracked down the guy who stole her bike and ruined her cakes, leading to his license being suspended and him being charged with theft. She even chased after the couple who splashed her with water. As for Kobato, who only stole a cake, she forced him to run errands for her.

Osanai is definitely not someone you'd want to cross paths with.

This episode was just incredible dude. I think my eyes were wide open for pretty much the entire second half of the episode as I was seeing the story deconstruct pretty much everything that has happened into the crazy twist with Osanai and her manipulation. I probably exclaimed out loud, "That's crazy," at least 5 times. I'm honestly just in awe of where this story has taken itself. I think it really shows the influences of this author's work, as this is the type of shit you'd expect from a classic mystery novel written by Doyle or Christie. It's awesome, really. Can't wait for the next episode but I'm sad it's going to be over so soon :(

Yeah there's something wrong with Osanai. While Kobato was eventually able to figure what happened there were a bunch of risks that Osanai took including getting both Kobato and Kengo injured via an off-screen scuffle with the girls which ended up with both of them getting some bruises, and that happened right after Osanai could've been permanently scarred with the knife Isawa had.

Anyway, I'm not impressed with what Osanai did and even with this big reveal I thought the episode was a bit dull and slow.
