Tbh, Angelica should just be proud how far she pushed herself and her opponent. Her emotional reaction after that fight was expected but I did wish she beat Geese.

This also sets up a somewhat revenge match for Rick in the next round. Geese is a freak of nature so Rick wasn't holding back. They pushed this fight as a semi-final worthy match.

Rick's ability to simulate Angelica's strength through various phase is very frightening.

3 episodes left, I need season 2 announcement as soon as possible.

Fairs another really good episode.

It was so hard to see Angelica get beat up like that after all the training she put in, but on the other hand I like it because it gives her a lot of room for growth and seeing Rick do what he did later in the episode gives her the confidence she needs to really evolve as a person. Surprisingly competent character writing in this one.

I love that Rick nerfed himself down to her power level to fight Geith so she could see what’s possible for her. I’d say this was one of the most satisfying OP MC character fights I’ve seen in a long time because of the context.

It also acted as a de facto rematch between the two so in a sense she still won. Just gotta work on her mental game and she’ll be fine! I hope this means she’ll be a permanent fixture for these last few eps, she’s been the best part of the show for me and I love her!

Angelica's training in Orichalcum Fist pays off against Geith, even inflicting him some damage.

Going on the offense against Geith with the same offense over and over, it's getting pretty boring for the perfect prodigy whose older brother retires from being a pugilist just watching his insane strength, and Angelica is easily routed, though Rick had to interfere after she was beaten pretty badly. He can wait for the match against Geith in time to come progressing through the tournament, as even Broughston and the heavyweight champion Kelvin progress to the semifinals.

Angelica tried all she can being a female noblewoman, and she already worked as hard as she could against Geith, there's no more that she could've done. The anticipated match between Rick and Geith, the former's the true representative of Orichalcum Fist persisting in the match, even though Snape has this in the bet seeing his adopted brother have a perchance of winning. But this is Rick barely using a monocule of his strength by matching his with Angelica's for a virtual rematch, and the limited magic he has makes up for pure muscle strength, owing to precision and power that not even a prodigy like Geith can ever fathom to understand, who uses strength as his main forte.

A year's worth of hellish training is more than enough, and Rick proved his point to defeat Geith with ease, mind and strength.
A standout episode bar none.

@KANLen09 Rick interfered to prevent her freaking MURDER. Geith's bloodlust got up a little to much & he meant to kill her, seeing her as prey. I guess the Dragon genes spoke up. Still loved seeing him getting his arrogant arse owned.

I’m not 30ish something man, but the words that Rick said really made me sentimental. This anime really is something else and I gotta admit I’m really enjoying it, compared to some other similar genre of anime this season. This anime’s emotional impact is both uplifting and thought-provoking, demonstrating the power of humor to inspire and move the viewer. The author's ability to evoke emotion and create vivid imagery is truly exceptional, making this a truly unforgettable anime of this season for me. I really love the ED as well, its one of the most underrated EDs this season imo.

The most funny part is, that Snape thought Geith could win this tournament, though he wouldn't even stand a chance against Kelvin.
Both are colossal idiots.

Angelica losing and Rick avenging her was expected but the way he limited his abilities to match Angelica and showed her what she's capable of doing and defeated Geith while limiting himself, that was well done. Really liked Rick this episode. Good episode, really neat. Btw the announcer fanservice was neat as well.

I love how Rick brought himself down to Angelica's level for the fight to show her potential, really helped flesh out both their characters and made it so the fight wouldn't last in a second lol. This anime really is quite good despite people's impressions from the first couple eps

I thought Angelica did a pretty decent job.
I really like how Rick showed Angelica just what she would be capable of after a year of training.
She is going to be a badass after 12 months.

I have ADD, ADHD & AUTISM, but this won't stop me. Let's keep having fun together.

@WhisperingCloud9

Exactly. This fight just had so much heart in it, which is not something you see that often. I really don't see another way he could have been more of an inspiration for Angelica by showing her present and future abilities and proving how a "no-talent" (in words of Giese) could beat the likes of a generational prodigy. The pacing was so good, too. Like Broughston mentioning early on, "is that how you see the fight" to clue us in to what's happening. And the use of the scales imagery throughout the episode was amazing. I love it when authors take these established concepts and use them in these critical moments to make it all the more impactful. I was unironically getting teary-eyed seeing Angelica raise her fist to her heart and her inner thoughts, "I was born with a scale that only ever tilts in one direction!" This was a legitimate best episode of the season contender. Truly PEAK.

This anime isn't the most elaborate, but it is entertaining. I wouldn't mind following Orichalcum Fist towards their goal of finding all gems and fighting Kaiser Alsapiet as long as they keep the fighting interesting.

Getting properly acquainted with Angelica and training her also gave the show a boost. That's another way of seeing personal growth because I don't think we'll see much from the other Orichalcum Fist members.

This show has really awful pacing considering it's basically 3/4ths over. Honestly would of been funnier if he just outright crushed the dude with 1 hit from the start instead of that boring fight. Was a fun premise for a series but the overall story pacing really hurts it's potential. Lackluster series

Although the outcome of Angelica's fight was obvious, it was still sad to see her get beaten up, especially after all the training she went throughit was reminiscent of Videl vs. Spopovich.

I didn't expect Rick's revenge to play out the way it did. I didn't think he would humiliate Geese by using the same level as Angelica, just to show her that with persistence in her training, she could reach a higher level and forge her own path. Although I know Geese couldn't beat Rick or the rest of his team, I wonder how strong Geese could become if he decided to train.

Rick really showed that dragonoid what real hardwork can do to a person's abilities! But Rick's mentors didn't really give him any slack when they practically called him below average when it comes to his natural abilities lol

Watching Angelica being beaten... is bad for my heart.

But, at the end of this episode, that smile of hers was definitely fulfilling. 🥰

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Peak,so damn PEAK.Was ashamed that Angelica couldn't do more against Geith, until their "rematch" that is.Loved that it wasn't a simple complete beatdown by Rick but showing how much Angelica herself could do with enough training and reminded her will of becoming a warrior again.Beautiful

@MegamiRem I wanted to say exactly the same. Rick avenging Angelica was very obvious but the way it was done was extremely good.
Rick's growth as a character is also impressive. I want to cry every time I think of Noor from 'I Parry...'.
I like fanservice in this series - they are creative! But announcer's one was too obvious to my liking.

@GakutoDeathGlare It definitely got better. For me first 3 episodes (adventurer exam) were tough to watch (some cringe characters as well). I attribute improvement to Rick's maturity as a character.

Geese was so arrogant, he thought that his skills were the strongest in the world, but he was totally wrong. Rick’s harsh training paid off and now he has the most chances to win the Fist King Tournament. Amazing battle by the way, I loved how Rick used his combat skills to defeat everyone.

Alright, now that I can discuss it since it's not a manga spoiler, yessss! I loved this part of the manga-- or really this whole Angelica arc. When we meet Angelica, I remember I was like, "Yo this character is like a parody. lol" I mean she was pretty much getting clowned. And then you get to this and I just couldn't help but appreciate her a lot more. That and I enjoy how it's written. Like I said before, this feels surprisingly fresh. It's cool and all to have the badass female character who can fight, but I liked how they framed this-- especially in comparison to her brother. She has her goals and her values, and they made her pretty understandable. It's hard not to root for her, but they did really well not to make a "overnight" success out of her and just make the message ring flat. Instead, we get this pretty cool message of just keeping at it and keeping at it WELL. And that can really apply to so many things in life, but even just looking at it from Angelica's situation, it's pretty inspiring. Like... not to get too into the subject, but sometimes people try to incorporate the whole "girl power" (or anti-/fake girl power) thing in a way that just... doesn't feel... genuine or in a way that doesn't really say much. I've seen the results be things like "See? Girls can be strong too!" usually only for it to not really matter, or "Even if they're not physically strong, girls have their/this girl has her own girly/unique strength", or even "Lol Girls aren't strong after all and they're just deluded" pretty much. I think the writing here didn't baby Angelica, but it allowed for more growth in an understandable and reasonable way for the universe that they exist in. The point is not that she's a strong woman or isn't a strong woman, but is instead she is someone, regardless of her sex, who can become stronger if she keeps working hard like she has been.

Anyway, good episode.

I'm really impressed with how they handled the whole 'getting revenge for Angelica bit.

Most shows just make it so easy to be like, "He pissed me off and now I'll fuck em up" meanwhile Rick showed Angelica what she is capable of and where she could be with time and training. Not to mention, even giving Geith somewhat of a 'lesson' in understanding his weakness all the while still giving him a thrashing. Angelica is just great though. They really gave her some proper character development.

I can't wait to see how the rest of this tournament goes. I really want to see Rick and Broughston duke it out. Great episode overall! Really becoming the 'Dark Horse' of the season for me.

I'm glad to keep up with this series, also this episode was good and fair.

Angelica's 1 month development is pretty good and she recognize her power gradually. Compare to past episodes, her personality become better and better. I hope Rick will continue to train her and maybe she can become part of the party in the future.

Can't believe I forgot about this show; honestly the name is a mouthful so it's easy to forget lol. Good for Angelica; she worked so hard and we saw how good her results were even if she lost, and Rick went so far as to show her what she can be in time using her own skills. It was kind of campy with the villain but also really well done emotionally. She is going to become so OP with some training. Honestly I wish this was like 48 episodes or something because it's really fun. Obviously not masterpiece work of art sure, but fun!

Oh look, the thing I thought would happen, happened.

I was hoping that Angelica, the character with investment in defeating Geith would do so, but alas she was curb stomped and Rick is the one who got to defeat him.

Now to be fair, the way that Rick fights Geith has a good meaning behind it, to encourage Angelica and show her the possible outcome of her training. But still, I am a little disappointed that she doesn't get to overcome Geith.
