Initially, I wasn't too fond of Yuu, but it turns out he's the only aristocrat with some common sense. I suppose I'm beginning to appreciate him now.

The Bauer Kingdom has long been governed by powerful clans who ascend to royal and noble positions, collecting taxes from commoners to maintain peace in their territories. However, with the rise of magic, this equilibrium has begun to crumble. Despite this, discrimination persisted, leading discontented students to initiate a movement seeking equality. Amidst the tension between nobles and commoners, Deed, a servant in service to Yuu, inadvertently inflicts a severe magical injury upon a commoner activist within the academy, further escalating the already strained situation.

Why should commoners bow to the aristocracy when, over time, the gap between the classes keeps narrowing? That's why we've embraced equality-based societies in most first-world countries today. It's unexpected that this yuri romance is delving into class issues. I'm not a fan of the current direction; it feels like the commoners are being unfairly portrayed as villains. Hoping Rei becomes more proactive, and the story takes a different turn.

Damn, this has turned into quite a thrilling narrative. And of course, can't resist those headpats, lol.

At first I'm quite disappoint that the church is behind commoner's movement, I kinda want to see the collapse of monarchy.

Anyway, it's very interesting that this episode gives incest a serious talk and not treat this topic as a joke like siscon/brocon you usually see in other anime. This is probably the boldest anime (in term of politcally correctness) I've seen this year.

Oh we LOVE a good forbidden love story 😩 wow, I was not expecting Lene to turn out to be an Opp, especially not for THAT reason. She and her brother being full blown lovers is such a wild twist on top of an already intense episode with the commoners on the verge of revolt. The hierarchy of the kingdom is about to change and honestly, with the way commoners have been treated, I fully support it.

Dude really almost beat someone to death and he gets a slap on the wrist in the form of a house arrest for a week?? Like Rae said, imagine the outrage of the roles were reversed! No matter the timeline or world, nobles can’t help but seal their own downfall by abusing their people.

Going back to Lene’s big reveal, I do think she really cares about Claire, but she’s just in a very tight situation with hiding her relationship with her brother, pressure from her father etc. It’s clear even after everything happened Claire still wants to help her too! Hopefully they all get a happy ending.

“We can call this the first labour of love of our new life together” funny how both this and Hoshitele had such cute Yuri ending scenes today lol

not in 1000 years
i would have expected
what happened today in im in love with the villianess

im stunned, surprised, shocked
i totally misjudged this anime, it went from 6/10 the first episodes, 8/10 in the third episode, 7/10 in the 4-7 episodes, and today, i just can say this is a 10/10

if this story goes further down the topic of taboo relationships and it pushes compelling drama beyond the initial power fantasy isekai cocoon it came from, this will become the anime of the year!

Damn, I wrote Lene's peculiarly strong infatuation with her brother as your typical brocon anime trope behavior – I wasn't expecting it to be mutual. It's interesting and oddly refreshing to see incest used as a plot device like this instead of just being a taboo fanservice thing.

Woah, they ended it in the middle of the fight?? The anime writers sure are cruel, at least the manga wasn't that mean. XD

Seeing Rae use game-knowledge to her advantage is always so satisfying (and using words from her word like "tsundere" that no one knows what it means lmao). But even scarier when it came to the plot-point where she has no idea who that masked character is, bc it doesn't happen in the game – and showing that her changing the relationship of the heroine & villainess already has changed the storyline. Hopefully for the better for Claire.

Gotta say though – who tf decided to keep the monsters and the bell in the same room/building?? It's like asking for someone to use it.

WTF was that. They made such a point of having a discussion about how homosexuality is totally normal and not to be frowned upon, and now they're comparing it to incest? This plotline came out of nowhere.

They're not. It's said by someone (forgot who) that it's all just politics and the church doesn't really takes sides. But they are kinda on both sides and use these gossips to create even more drama between the ranks.
Church is and always has been on the side of the money.

They're not comparing those two. Putting something into a common category (forbidden love in this topic) isn't the same as comparison.

@TimeFliesAway Mm, I'm not sure I agree. I think the comparison is implied, exactly because they made it into a point about emphasizing that while "forbidden", homosexuality isn't something bad even if it's frowned upon in-universe. Talking about homosexuality in the same sentence and putting incest into the same category makes it seem like they're trying to present it as something other than messed up.

I did a little research to see how the show handles it afterwards, and even if it doesn't explicitly approve of it, this put me off so much that I'm dropping the show.

This is a fantasy setting that is based off of olden times. Probably Victorian but someone more educated can say otherwise.

One thing about olden times is that both incest and homosexuality existed a lot more regularly then now. However both were still forbidden, but still happened, and would be frowned upon by most people.

If you hate the show to the point of dropping it, then cool. Too bad that a single line of dialogue with make you drop the show. Just know that this happened back then too.

@Rajidae the thing is, it can't be compared. Incest has been a thing for centuries and has always been a practice for royals. Maybe not anymore, but it's still more accepted in some countries than homosexuality.
Whereas you can totally get into jail by expressing homosexuality publicly, especially back in the days. Maybe it's not that bad in this anime universe, but not impossible either. Claire reacting that casual towards the relationship reveal also adds to the fact that it's a common thing among royals.

Things are starting to get political with the current plot, lots of stuff to do with the commoner movement and the church, and it’s another one of those church bad situations but it’s making for an interesting plot. I gotta say I wasn’t expecting the twist with Lene, I did see Lambert being part of it coming tho, and the man is in love with his sister lol, not the first time I’ve seen it and in this type of setting it’s not that crazy either, but I still didn’t see it coming.

And damn son, that chimera is actually kinda scary, I really like that design despite the fact it kinda stands out in this cutesy show, Rae and Claire even had time for banter while fighting it so there wasn’t a lot of tension but still very cool. Definitely looking forward to seeing how they deal with the chimera once it unthaws as well as how the current situation develops, I’m thinking it might have a lighthearted ending.

Well, the crack is here and the true colour of the show/ story begins to show up. And this also marks the turning point of the show from silly comedy into a serious political drama. Rare Lily spotted. Rae and Claire are getting closer together, and really love them for their journey as a couple up to its final arc later. From the preview, I assume we would get 3 episodes for the Love Scales arc, which is great but also disappointing. I wish they follow the LN so we could get the next season sooner.

Interesting turn of events for this current arc. Things sure got intense with that guy actually being burned alive and the revelation of the incest relationship between Lene and her brother.

That was quite intense! Rae was really cool when she faced Lambert!

This episode had some problems though. I'm still a bit lost on what exactly Rae knew would play out in the game and what's new to her. They also squeezed so much backstory on the Aurousseaus in my brain, I'm still not sure what exactly threatend Lene. Or was it just the Incest?

Speaking of Incest, I'll judge that once the arc is over. It is something in usually hate in anime, but I do believe it can actually be a decent plotline for some drama if executed properly. The question next episode has to awnser is "Is there a good reason Lambert had to be more than a Siscon?"

This small bit doesn't affect my enjoyment of the series. As long as it stays as a small bit and the incest doesn't get focused on too much. >Has a crush on a teen and acts like a creep towards her all the time to the points that she staged a situation in which she gets to sleep with her

>The MC Literally equates being in a gay relationship and incest one as the same because both are " forbidden love "

>The series doesn't condemn the incest at all, nor the MC thinks it's weird she has a crush on a minor while being an adult

How's Mushoku tensei is considered problomatic but this isn't lol

Also for the incest part, say what you want about domestic girlfriend but at least it didn't try to morally justify the incest or equal it to homosexuality ( because both are frowned upon in society ), it's just a degenerate show since ep1 and it's not trying to hide that lol

As manga reader (not LN sadly), I highly anticipated what the internet would say abt this EP in particular. Kinda disappointed though, there's just not enough internet drama happening. Shame on you internet! Where's the good old Karens? Where's your good old entitled-teenagers spirits? You know you're the most righteous person in the planet, damn those whose opinion differ from yours! Come on! I want to see burnings! I want to see forum bans!

For those who actually speak up and condemn (or support) the concept of incest in this EP, from the bottom of my heart I thank you for meeting my expectations. No matter which side you stand on, your opinion may spark further "discussion" in the future. Let's just hope more 10 year olds will join the convos, let's just hope trolls will bite the bait.

Remember everyone, this is not just an animation. These represents you opinion, which we all know is always more right then actual data and science. These represents your religion, your mom, your race, and the color of your skin. Those who condemn this anime, comdemn harder! Those who think they who comdemn is wrong, argue harder! Those who just here for trolling, you're doing God's work, keep up the good work!

Don't disappoint me internet!

PS:
I understand that some convos are already surfacing abt the incest. But if we went with old internet forum standards, it wasn't enough. If any mods seeing this, I beg you please let them go wild for once if possible. At least for a while, just enough until paragraphs longer than this comment, or 20 replies deep, or better yet with links citing articles, appeared.

I think this episode was pretty interesting... especially because the fact that Rae's knowledge about the game is out the window, sure she knew about the incident with the commoners, sure she knew about Lene and Lambert's relationship... but then this masked guy appears and suddenly her sense of control is completely lost, and that's going to probably make her realize that this is no longer a game, but her new real life.

Holy crap, that was an awesome packed episode. It really needed to be given 5 episodes left, and so much building up with nothing major happening until now. They finally explained the world building, the princes' linage, the political powers, and commoner/noble society. The anime not only handled Matt & Deed's side of the incident with good neutrality for both, but then they go the extra mile and reveal it was never about commoners vs nobles but a realistic political ploy to play both sides against each other, probably as a coup attempt.

I did not see the Lene and Lambert incest plotline coming, kind of surprising and funny they spelled out it's "blood siblings" so there's no ambiguity. I also didn't expect that action scene at the end when things were going really off the rails now that stuff's happening outside the original otome game script. Excellent, I was getting worried all the build up was going to end up going nowhere, and the show just fizzling out with none of what we just saw.

tbh, I feel like the line of dialogue "homosexuality isn't the only form of forbidden love" was a very bad choice. I don't think this show has the intention of equating homosexuality to incest, but they aren't really denouncing incest yet.. I'd like to know more about Lene and Lambert's life. With the amount of context we have, it seems like they're just implying the two are innocently in love with each other. at their big age?? surely there's some sort of psychological explanation and idec how flimsy it is I just need to know.

also the plot of class uprising seems.. counterproductive to the whole setup? almost all of the main characters are nobility. we're going to have more empathy for them than is deserved because the representation of the common class is totally unimportant randos. at least Claire is angry about Dede's sentencing ig?
and I'm curious about the weird villain character. because the lower class are just in their anger at their treatment by the upper class... I don't want there to be some rando supervillain pulling the strings. unless they're nobility themself?? idk. the fact that Dede was set up to incite rioting from the commoners is a lil icky to me. like there is a corrupt system in place and to have a false incident be the catalyst for major acts of uprising is unfortunate. it makes the commoners seem unnecessarily vengeful.
I'll hold my tongue until we find out more about this masked person, because maybe it'll be settled in a satisfactory manner!!

the low budget animation is getting to me too...

ugh why this class uprising plot just play pretend in the fantasy world. the only character I really like anymore is Claire but she needs to radicalize faster. (and that nurse was so cute)

Phew quite a bit going on here now.

The incestuous love bit wasnt needed for the motive to make sense so I dont know what it is doing there, unless they will expand on that for it's own plot path to actually ake it more part of the story which I could see possibly happening but I dont know.

Seems like Claire is warming up to Rae even more though still not clear if it is purely platonic or she has been just a little gay all along.
