Shinigami, huh?
Quite a coincidence though: all platoons wiped out on their third mission o.o

Now that the third mission is over, he should FINALLY get over it... hopefully.

Let's just say certain scenes in this episode excite me in certain ways, particularly as fodder for certain kinds of fic/art ._.

This episode was awesome.
Sanders kicked ass when he charged the Apsalus with a beam saber. That mobile armor seems very powerful and endurable, it basically blew everything away with whatever it was doing. I wonder what else it can do.
Sanders and the others will probably be able to put the Grim Reaper stuff behind them now, which should make them more capable in battles.

Kind of silly 'curse', so I'm glad it was resolved fast. The Zeon mobile armor seemed very advanced, enough that it's retreat required sustained fire from an entire team of mass-produced Gundams.

Aina's faction has really uninspired characters. I don't even know what whether her big brother is a soldier, politician, aristocrat, scientist, or entrepreneur. He's definitely prominent somehow. That random abrasive dude was probably a pilot (this is Gundam after all). Aina herself is apparently important enough to attend social functions in elaborate dresses, but disposable enough to be introduced piloting a crappy Zaku in a worthless skirmish.

How very convenient for Aina and Amada to meet again in the battlefield. Nonetheless, this episode was fine. Underwhelming, but nothing in particular ticked me off.

IIRC, it was a test unit, probably something else related to her brother's "creations", and that battle wasn't exactly planned... Yes, Aina has a knack for ending up in a battle against Feddies during her tests.

That new Zeon machine so far has been nothing, but a big bullet sink. I want to see what the thing does on the offensive.

People say this series is amazing and things like that, but until that point I didn't see anything special. Well, let's wait for this series to become better :D

Nice Mobile Armor, btw. And with a Zaku head. Everyone loves Zakus!

The reason they say it's amazing(myself included) is because it breaks away from the standard/traditional Gundam franchise. Just look for some reviews so you can kind of get an idea...

So the real plot finally gets into gear, Sanders was pretty awesome here just tearing that thing apart.

That obnoxious Admiral was interesting wonder if he was just a one off, just there to show not all high ranking Zeons are so prim and proper or there's something deeper to his role.

Sanders was really cool when fighting the Mobile Armor. I wonder what it does on the offensive though as all it did in the episode was flying and getting shot at by the Gundams.

Sanders' curse was a little silly, hope he gets over it by the next episode.

Great episode!

At least we know what Aina does and how important she is. Even though she look gorgeous in her dress, what's up with her neck line :O

Sanders pissed me off in this episode. i don't know why he's letting those douchebags getting to his head. Even pissed me off when he fired for no reason.

If this happened in 079, Zeta or ZZ, he would have been dead by now.

Apsalus looks strong, but i doubt it can do anything new a mobile armor can't.

Can't wait for the next episode!

Everything has been written above:
- it looks like Aina's brother is a mix of a lot of things (an intellectual elite from the aristocratie), probably the final boss piloting his "ultimate weapon" when he'll be about to die from his health problem whatever it is,
- the Apsalus is... a bigger mobile armor with a Zaku head. XD Quite impressive on the battlefield (with this big shockwave), but certainly not a game breaker in the 1YW, even if it was mass-produced. (I mean... what exactly is this blond engineer thinking it would achieve even in the ground war?)
- wondering if the old acquaintance from Aini and his brother is a minor reference to the future european war front or a new character,
- the death plague rumour is something I saw a lot in other war stories and never enjoyed, it didn't change in Gundam. At least, it was a 1episode thing, and offered a light explanation to the (lack of) rank of the character. I hope he won't tend to act brainlessly again, his superior is enough. This show being a 12 OAVs series, they will probably deliver such an episode for each character (facing a problem/part of them they will have to overcome, like the sergeant and the leader), the next ones might have better ideas.

It offered also an occasion for the hero to share his way of thinking again (trust for himself, someone, in the events). But everything seems too lighthearted until now (it remembers me Patlabor a lot because of that and the Gundam themselves)

4/5

Angry again because I saw two GM in the background at the MS teams camp. (are'nt we in october 79??)

Continuity problems aside and a third of the way into it, I'm liking this OVA a good bit. This was the best episode so far I think. Good setup and payoff. Also...

Best character :)

I wonder if I'm the only one to think that this whole secret Zaku affair is an allusion to Nazi Germany and Wunderwaffe, it's almost explicit. Though I'm curious what this metal ball can do besides shockwaves.

Karen confirmed best girl again, the greatest parts of the episode had people getting a punch in their face or some other places

Pretty good episode especially since Aina is back but are they not going to say anything to the one who disobeyed the order?

All weebs creatures of the galaxy, hear this message. Those of you who listen will not be struck by western animation. You will no longer know hunger, nor pain. Your Anime have come to lead you now. Our strength shall serve as a luminous sun toward which all intelligence may blossom. And the impervious shelter beneath which you will prosper. However, for those who refuse our offer and cling to their western animation ways… For you, there will be great wrath.

Zaku action yeahhh more Zaku action!!!!
First third of the series and it's quite good. I still don't get why this is considered a hyper masterpiece but we'll see. The fights are never boring, and this satisfies me a lot.

That fight was awesome! Finally got to see some beam saber action, and it looked amazing. Probably my fav episode so far.
Also, it goes to show a kick in the balls from a hot redheaded woman can do a lot to inspire a man to greatness.

Nice episode, like how upbeat this Gundam is and yet there's tension.

People say the first half of this is peak Gundam, but so far it has been pretty boring. There is nothing really engaging me, im not feeling any of the characters and the story barely exists. What is it about this show that people like so much? Im genuinely confused.

This is a chill Gundam show because it's more focused on the team and characters than the huge political scope of things. Wonder what else that huge weapon does.
