Tbh, I don't think anyone knows what Yayoi's true purpose is except maybe herself.

The episode dealt with the supernatural again with Yayoi being the center of attention. Speaking of which, she's kinda strong for a character of such small size. Keitarou also should get some credit for helping her in the neck of time.

Unfortunately this comes out at 11 PM for me so this is the last thing I watch before going to sleep. Really sets the atmosphere.

Yayoi act like a yandere lmao
Her "let's goooo" is amazing
She looks sad from profile
I'm really liking the techniques used here, a part of myself and stuff.
Wtf treatment of a sprain costs that much in japan?
Yayoi is badass, making a spirit beg for her fingernail like that. (this sounds so weird out of context lmao)
So that other cursed person is Eiko! Well this was pretty obvious, but it's nice to get a confirmation.
This is really good!

Fun fact: in the manga at the end of chapter 2 (last episode) there is an "outtake" that goes like:
"I will guarantee your safety too, Keitaro. So...
Your money please.
...
Ah! Nails. I meant your nails."
"Does she need money?"
There is one at the end of every chapter it seems. These are fun.

I just checked the one from the chapter this episode adapted (3)
It's the scene at 16:57. It goes like:

"Keitaro. Please trust me"
"...I can't"
*Yayoi chokes Keitaro*
*CRACK*
Dark gathering
BAD END

Yeah I love these lol

Keitaro doesn't want to be involved in this scary things anymore.
Thats why Yayoi and Eiko go to a haunted place alone.. Yayoi wants to cure Keitaro curse.
But that haunted place seems like a really really yabai place..

Eiko being the other cursed is the most obvious reveal in human history, to the point I'm not even sure if they were trying to "hide" it per say. Wonder how bad her hand is? Although it's weird that she isn't being exorcised like Keitaro is. Do they have different session dates, or is it something else entirely?

Kinda expected that Eiko has anything to do with supernatural things. As she's also wearing a glove like Keitaro who got cursed.

This has been good so far, seems like Yayoi isn't completely overpowered, but creepy enough to unsettle me a bit. Great that she cares about Keitaro too and wants to cure him. The other cursed person was obviously Eiko, but to what extent does her curse go?

Yayoi showed that ghost who's boss alright. I do really enjoy this anime. I think the manga is better overall due to the level of detail the art has and just getting across the creepy vibe better, but the stories and characters are still great here. It feels like I read these early chapters forever ago, so it's nice to see it all again. Mieruko-chan was very disappointing, but Dark Gathering is much more my kind of thing.

They didn't really hide it. They literally showed a picture of her hand in the last episode. When she showed Yayoi the picture of the hand that was supposedly Keitarou's, it was a left hand. Keitarou's right hand is the cursed one I think. It's more of a confirmation of what everyone suspected than a reveal imo.

Yayoi-chan's outfit would make for such a cute cosplay tbh. Especially for all the alternative Hot Topic girlies out there. They would definitely love Yayoi's cat hoodie, her funky shoes with shark teeth, her puffy shorts, and cute purse. Honestly serving. It's a look.

Well, capturing a goddess' spirit is one way to gain power...
The reveal of Eiko being the other that got cursed with Keitarou was a bit unsurprising.

Honestly kind of thought this episode was a bit mellow compared to the past episodes. It had a pretty good ending though. Was expecting the blond girl in the op to be the one who got cursed with Keitarou, not Eiko. Which makes me wonder about a few things:
1) Is Eiko cursed like Keitarou? If so, I would assume its a different type of curse than Keitarou's cause she hasn't mentioned getting anything exorcised.
2) Is Eiko possibly possessed by the spirit that cursed Keitarou? That creepy face from episode 1 could've possibly been the spirit raising its face?
3) If Eiko is cursed/possessed, does that mean Yayoi has been ignoring that fact?
Then again, if Eiko was possessed you would've thought it would've tried to have Yayoi abandoned at the shrine or reacted to the idea of Yayoi sending her army against it.
Guess I just have more to look forward to watching. The plot thickens!

Sadly it’s still not scary, but I really like what we have here in terms of plot. After the debacle regarding the goddess and her dead baby ghost army we got the reveal of why Yayoi has a room of ghosts trapped in dolls, and I gotta say it’s very cool, I really love that she’s collecting a ghost army to fight the ghost that took her mom, and is now trying to collect a ghost strong enough to get rid of Keitaro’s curse, so it really is Pokemon like folks were saying huh lol, even gonna battle them against each other.

And Eiko is still sus, being able to find Keitaro easily and not explaining how, my guess is it has to do with her curse but it could also be a tracker or something, either way kinda sus lol. And lastly, I want to point out the comedy is hitting with me, the first bit of the episode where Yayoi was asking for fingernails was good lol, it’s good comedy but it is one of those things that kinda takes some of the spook away, but not all of it of course, even Higurashi had a lot of comedic moments and managed to stay spooky.

Eiko is so suspicious. Like, how was she able to find Keitaro?? And she's way too eager to visit these haunted places despite being cursed herself. The whole blank-faced, emotionless taunting thing she did a few eps back was weird too.

This show has such an odd and interesting tonal clash and I am loving it. It's like on the brink of being pretty eerie at times, but the designs, the art and sometimes the characters themselves, break that sort of immersion, more often than not. Some people will hate it, I find it refreshing. It's like listening to the band Meshuggah, you're headbanging and then you lose the rhythm, and then you find it again lol

I find it a little funny that the person who appears to have taken the brunt of the curse is more stable than the one who didn’t. Good episode.

I already expected Eiko to be cursed like Keitaro, but I didn't expect her to be the "friend who got dragged in". I thought that person had died then. Anyway, now I'm even more curious about their past and what exactly is the deal with Eiko. Because I don't really trust her carefree smile.

A person I completly trust though is Yayoi. She's such a good friend! My favorite new character of the season so far!

Also this episode was pretty creepy with the spirits in the woods. It's atmosphere reminds me of Summertime Render's abandoned hospital story. And that's just the right amount of horror for me!

My guess is that she's either obsessed with him (she had some Yandere moments, though really short) or the curse they share lets her know. It's clear she's hiding stuff.

Look I get Yayoi was asking for Keitaro's nails with honest and good intentions but yikes, we didn't need that explanation afterwards right? THAT PRACTICAL EXPLANATION.

I'm not sure if it was supposed to be a reveal, much less surprising because Eiko being that cursed girl was kind of obvious since the start but fine, atleast Keitaro and Yayoi share the same goal now.

Since Eiko knows what Yayoi is up to, why did she change the subject when Yayoi started asking Keitaro for his nails? I assume she would have had some idea what the nail clippings are for. It makes me wonder if she's trying to keep Keitaro reliant on her.

Since Eiko has a curse on her too I wonder why no mention of her being exorcised? Unless she just didn't want to talk about it with Yayoi.

I don't have problems with the fact that Eiko being the old friend who got cursed was an obvious outcome (in fact it's good they revealed it soon since it's not a big deal of a secret); the problem is not that they tried to hide it, but how they tried to hide it: Keitaro always mentioned "the friend who got dragged in" and "Eiko my childhood friend who helped me to recover my life" as two different people, not only as an inner monologue to himself and the viewer, but in front of Yayoi and Eiko herself too, like if not even him acknowledged both were the same; no human being talks like that. It's like author had no idea how to make it less obvious but what they came up with had no sense.

Keitaro not remembering Eiko being that friend that got cursed too would've made more sense.

this episode was actually quite nice, not judging by the horror part though but based on the overall plot it was quite informative and it seems like we have established a goal and reason to pursue it in this episode. the reason behind spirits in her room is also given now.

the only decent episode till now. even though first half felt cheap.

i don't understand why the spirits were atacking them though. i thought the spirits would be nice as according to the backstory the goddess is a protector and stuff. weird.

The end of an era. Thank you Wit, Mappa and Isayama.

This show would have worked better and made 1000% more sense if Yayoi was a boy. Male psychics are rarer than females, ergo they are much, much stronger than their females counterparts.

Yayoi being a boy would make perfect sense on the entire premise of the show. But alas we live in a time and age that boys can't be anything but weak manservants like Kujou from Gosick is. Nothing more than a punching bag for that abusive, arrogant loli Victorique.

I kind of guessed the big spoiler at the end of Episode 3 but still, I'm interested now to see what happens next.
