In a year I can't remember, I was watching TV late one night (before cable) and I saw an animated clip of a kid on a city street completely destroying tanks WITH HIS MIND! And it was taken COMPLETELY SERIOUSLY! As an avid Marvel Comics reader, I immediately became a MAN (I didn't know you could have a spiritual orgasm). The clip was, of course, from AKIRA.
It brought all those years of imagining super powers to life.
It took me a couple decades to learn what anime actually was. Then it took a few years to understand that I didn't understand ANYTHING about anime.
I now understand that ANY genre can make me cry, make my heart feel like it's bursting, make me proud to be Human, make me wanna crawl under a rock.
Look at my scores. You'll understand me better than the woman who birthed me.
And I'll have more in common with you than my RL best friend.
