| 3 Anime Adaptation from Souichirou Yamamoto in 2022... that's a Big W!! why Urushi voice sounds so familiar, even thought her VA was New. sounds like someone but i can't remember who. hey, Kana Hanazawa is in the Cast as well. Forehead Cinematic Universe continues. |

| Takagi san's author is balling this year, this is his third adaptation! Not many authors get that type of treatment. What makes his stories so appealing is its simplicity and diabetes inducing characters. They are all unique though and have their own charms. My favorite thing about Ayumu though is the linear story telling. Chapters are connected and relevant. Makes the story more interesting to follow! Glad this series is getting the chance to shine. I'm liking how straightforward Ayumu is, it's refreshing how blase he is about it and says how he feels about her without any reservation, other than confessing because of the rule he set for himself. Yaotome's reactions are cute and I like how she is weak to his honesty so it looks like their dynamic will be fun to watch. |

| And so we arrive at the 3rd installment of anime adaptations for the forehead trifecta, and we have silver link taking care of this one. Really like the OP. So far anyone could probably tell that this is nothing special (they could totally subvert our expectations and land a confession in the very next episode, but of course that's never going to happen), but it's still cute and endearing, so no complaints here. If it ain't broke don't fix it I guess. As long as it's something we can enjoy. Take Tsubaki from last season's forehead installment and give her different hair and make her a bit louder, and you get Urushi. She's not a unique character by any means (like Takagi would definitely be a unique character imo), but I'll die for some blush any day. Ayumu on the other hand, now there's something to talk about. No disrespect to Nishikita, but I'm glad we didn't get a whiny beta male brat this time around. Instead we get this rock-solid, absolute MAN of a character. He was even called the immovable mountain here in this episode if I remember correctly. But oh no, with this type of character, he's going to be super dense right....? ....actually no, to my pleasant surprise. He actually picked up on Urushi's odd behavior and knew that she wanted to ask him about him joining the kendo club. I mean Urushi could've been sweating profusely and almost any other SoL character wouldn't have picked up on it. So for me at least it's just so great to see that Ayumu actually notices other people's behavior instead of simply going "eh, everything's probably fine." Everything else is probably stuff you'd just come to expect. Ayumu is probably never going win a game against Urushi. Personally not expecting great things from this whatsoever, it's definitely not going to top Takagi-san or doesn't have a unique setting and premise like Kunoichi Tsubaki, but I heartily enjoyed this first episode and will probably enjoy the rest just as much. |

| HiDIVE is shit. The EP looks blurry even in 1080p. Or is it that the animation itself is blurry? Feels like watching Naruto Shippuden all over again. The girl's dance in the OP was cute. Boring episode. At least the girl is cute. We are seeing all this development in 1st episode itself, it's not doing anything for the viewers. We are not invested in this, we don't care about the characters. They are getting close, sure nice but it's not like I feel happy for them, I don't feel anything for them. If this would have happened after like 3 or 4 episodes then I might have felt happy for them but not now. 3/5 episode. Will watch 2 more episodes before deciding anything. |

| I can't understand why it didn't "click" for me. I like rom-com; and I like anime series based on games (Hikaru no Go is still one of my favs). And the animation and voice action are decent. Even then, I saw myself pausing it, grabbing coffee, unpausing, pausing, doing some gardening, unpausing, reading something else... dunno, it failed to excite me? Even then I bet that a lot of people will love it. |

| These two are too adorable! He’s all cool and collected on the surface, but keeps spouting all these mushy things making it clear he’s got a crush on her. And she’s totally picking up on it and getting flustered every time. It’s a cute little dynamic! I’ve not played shogi, but it seems interesting. Is it kinda like a Japanese version of chess or something? Anyways, cute first episode. Think I’ll continue to watch a few more but likely another weekly. |

| I'm still disappointed that they changed the main cast. This main cast's voices are so bland and boring. Kohara Konomi and Hosoya Yoshimasa would have been more suitable than these no names. |
| Great voice casting, just what I imagined from the manga. The art style seems to be perfectly replicated as well with very light colors, making it look very cute and honestly I much prefer this pairing than Takagi's. I usually don't watch shows that I've read the manga of, but this seems to be a good adaptation, so I will continue watching. |

| That was a cute start. I'm a little worried that the premise might be too thin for full length episodes, but I enjoyed this nonetheless. I kind of like the idea that they both know how Ayumu feels. I'm surprised that the budget on this is a quite a bit lower than Tsubaki. But it still looks fine. |
| this feels way weaker if you compare it to the rocoms of last season, it was okay for sure getting pushed to a day when i dont have much to watch love the op tho and the dancing i'm a sucker for dance scenes in opening ending themes |

| I'm a fan of Yamamoto's works and art style so watching this is a no brainier. Quality doesn't seem as high as the last show, In the Heart of Kunoichi Tsubaki, but it could also be the lower quality streaming from HiDive. Regardless, this started a little slow but at least Ayumu is very straightforward and direct and seeing cutie senpai blush was great. Hope the show picks up but I'll definitely watch either way. |

| Forehead of the season is here. And while the visuals are a downgrade from Spring's forehead show, the chemistry of the main pair is hilarious enough to make it worthwhile. Its also great how their personalities are introduced to us amongst all this cutesy stuff. Now, all we need is a backstory detailing how the two came to have a crush on each other and we're set. |

| "UEGH!!!", Urushi spurt as Ayumu makes his move. That sound will definitely stick throughout the rest of the show, and hey if you show a picture of Urushi atleast it will be memorable? Yeah I'm trying so hard for me to not call this show a "one and done", but this screams of a show that is alright but drop before it's too late. It has the same feels of Takagi-san (the author for this show as well) and since we'll be mostly stuck in the Shogi "Club" room, Kaguya-sama. But yeah this is an inferior version of both series, because in this episode alone, the things that can be seen has already been presented. The fact that I just finished Shikimori-san, a show that also has similar problems and flaws convinced me that I just shift course from a romcom that is already developed to a romcom that is developing....slowly but surely. Hope I have a nerve to watch the next episode because with a way that it is, it'll be hard. |

 In most cases, the MAL Average Scores don't mean anything, here is a question: were the works made before 2000 all shit? Why are they so damn scarce in the Top 50? Think about how MAL is quite literally a filtered amount of the Anime fanbase. Here's a timeline of the Top 15 in which you can check that, almost always, the scores are affected by the freshness, popularity and other factors that have nothing to do with quality. |

| That was a great start ngl. Way too similar to Takagi-san except the roles are reversed and 'Nishikata' is a bit more mature and calculated. The opening is pretty cute. I like how Ayumu dances in such a kawaii way with a stone-faced glare. Tbh the way Ayumu compliments her/acts around her makes it pretty obvious that he has a crush on Urushi. Really good first ep. The ED was kinda meh. OP is way better Ah, the episode is over, hello loneliness my old friend |
