A special livestream program for the anime adaptation of Kousuke Oono's Gokushufudou (The Way of the Househusband) manga announced a second part on Friday.

Synopsis
"Immortal Tatsu," the legendary yakuza who single-handedly defeated a rival gang with a lead pipe, is a name known to strike fear in both hardened police officers and vicious criminals. Soon after his sudden disappearance, he resurfaces with a slight change in profession. Now equipped with an apron, Tatsu has given up violence and is trying to make an honest living as a house husband.

While adapting to mundane household tasks, Tatsu finds that being a house husband has its own challenges, from the battlefield known as supermarket sales to failures in the kitchen. Despite living peacefully, misunderstandings seem to follow him left and right. Gokushufudou follows the daily life of the comically serious ex-yakuza as he leaves behind his dangerous previous life to become a stay-at-home husband. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

The anime series adapts Oono's slice of life comedy manga, which began its serialization in Kurage Bunch in February 2018. Shinchosha published the seventh volume on March 9. Netflix released the first part of the anime consisting of five episodes on Thursday.

i really, really hope they step up the animation for this next part. the comedy was done really well in what's out so far, and if they improved the animation i could see this going from a 6-7/10 to a 9-10/10

Great to see the second part is already in production!

Just finished the first part and I'm definitely up for more now. As for the animation style, I somehow just got used to it lol. Of course better quality would be very appreciated though.

I am both glad and concerned that there will be a second season ( ̄~ ̄;)
I hope they do better when it comes to animation, because the rest I loved it and it could have been a 9 perfectly

Don’t expect the animation style to be more fluid. No highly-regarded manga get animated like that without it being a deliberate choice, so don’t expect it to change.

This is not a fighting anime... Is the animation really important?

You've pretty much answered your own question just by the word "anime" being there. Animation is the backbone of anime, no matter what genre it is or what content it involves. It doesn't always have to be the best of the best, but it is important. This is basically a glorified audiobook with very little animation... exclusive to one of the most expensive streaming services available. The animation and general quality wouldn't be such a big issue if the service it's exclusive to wasn't so damn expensive.

If I could go ahead and watch it on my cheap A$8/month AnimeLab subscription in 1080p, I would still be a bit iffy about the animation, but not so wound up because it's not like I'm paying a lot to watch it. However, to watch Netflix in that same quality in Australia, you need their premium plan, which is A$20/month ($20/month * 12 = $240/year). There are some really good quality Netflix original anime I'd be willing to pay that much for... this is not one of them.

I've seen anime that looked like they had a budget of 20€ with better "animation" than this. Like, I expect better from scrooge mcnetflix, tbh. I've seen anime with similar type of "nonimation" but none derived from such a famous source and produced by such a massive company.

The problem isn't that the animation is bad, it's that it's nonexistent.

Well, its anime, so of course the animation is important. It's not like we want one punch man level of animation.

it hurts so much that they call this an anime adaptation. if they were to call this a higher production manga promotion video id accept it and acknowledge that its good but i rly can't see this as an "anime" when its like this

The score is actually increasing. It was 6.49 the day it was released. It'll definitely touch 7 in a month.

Interesting! I watched all of it today and did not mind it as much as others are talking about. I do wish it was animated with some type of fluid animation, but oh well I guess. I will probably watch the second part as well.

I wouldn't call it an anime, more of manga in motion. Actually I am pretty disappointed with the pattern, as it wasn't a manga that made it hard to link episodes with short 2 minutes.

If the original manga was not already a comedy masterpiece, then I would not know how to relate to this. For example, in most cases, they didn't even adapt movements like running or fighting.

I was excited for this anime. The concept was cool and the mc looked kinda nice. When I heard the trailer came out, there was already a forum on it. I saw the comments saying it was trash... I waited to see the first episode. Not even five minutes in, I was like my god wtf is THIS?! Bruh is this even anime? Its like a webtoon; barely any movement.

Its not about low or high budget, its about the concept (include animation) that fit to the show especially the comedy. So if you think they need to improve the animation like an usual anime that you watching everyday, sorry to say it doesnt work like that

I was fairly excited to watch The Way of the Househusband on Netflix. It seemed like an interesting anime based on the plot synopsis but these reviews about the animation are scaring me.

I'm still going to watch the anime and form my own opinion about it but this is certainly not how I expected people to react to news about more episodes coming out so quickly.
