This profile will be updated GREATLY when I'm actually able to be online. Truth is, I don't really care much about MAL anymore. My anime & manga lists have been mostly updated (somewhat unfinished in terms of the anime actually listed), but I'm not actually going to update my About Me until I can and will actually finish it. Additionally, I'm very busy with my life, so yeah, can't really be here much anymore. Even when I have free time, I'd rather spend it on other hobbies I have obtained and IRL people. Don't be afraid to hit me up with a message if you really want to talk.
PLEASE don't bully >:(
Don't worry. I don't bite. I may seem angry sometimes but I don't hate anyone :)
I haven't watched most "well known" or popular anime, so please bare with what I've got until I get there!
I don't watch anime much as I used to, although I plan to watch more. though, in the past I've spent a lot of my time on anime. So much that there a lot that aren’t on my list. I've watched at least 500 anime, for sure.
Anyway, I have been watching anime since at least 2004. I kind of just watch what I feel like it by instinct, so most of the anime I've watched has been niche or obscure stuff. Some of my first anime include Azumanga Daioh, Pokemon, Bleach, Fullmetal Alchemist (2003), Kodocha, Love Hina, Princess Tutu, Chobits, Hello Kitty's Paradise, Revolutionary Girl Utena, and Oyayubi Hime Monogatari.
My scoring:
Note: A lot of my scores are really outdated. I might have given a show a 3/10, and think it's a 6/10 now. I might have given a show a 10/10, maybe it's an 8/10 now.
10/10: Masterpiece. A show that I absolutely love. There are so many reasons as to why a show is a "masterpiece" to me, and it can't be simplified. Character expositions, underlying themes and ideas that greatly compliment the overlying story, and/or maybe it had an important role in my life.
9/10: Amazing. A show that I absolutely love, although have a little bit of a situation with. May it be pacing or something else. Additionally, atmosphere is very important. If an anime is 10/10, I will make it a 9/10 if the soundtrack or character timing does not match the idea or emotion of scenes in general.
8/10: Great. I really enjoyed this one. It hits a lot of right notes, although there may be some facets that slightly hold it back.
7/10: Good. It is serviceable for the general idea, although it definitely had the potential to expand upon existing ideas (I'm looking at you, Princess Principal). If not, it's just serviceable.
6/10: Okay. Once again, it can have tremendous potential, or it's probably an anime that I enjoyed watching on a week-to-week basis. However, not much in particular shines. Both 7/10 and 6/10 can be enjoyable for me. For 6/10, it can also be quite forgettable sometimes. 5/10, 6/10 and 7/10 are often what I use as a placeholder for series that I am just starting.
5/10: Mediocre. If it's not a placeholder, it's either just an okay anime, or an anime that pissed me off or bored me. This and 4/0 always had something that brought me to the anime and kept me to it most of the time. Yes, cute girls and cool boys sounds simple, but it is a reason I start a lot of anime.
4/10: Bad. Majority of my basic qualities & standards are not met. I'm going to use Sonic X as an example. It can range from a sickening repetitive formula, character interactions that carry no weight, fillers/padding that clash with the main plot, and often becomes sickening to watch. I can at least bare with 4/10, because it introduces ideas that I'd like to see through. Unless it's Tokyo Ghoul.
3/10: Wtf. Just. Wtf. It's just absurd and I can't think of a way to describe this.
2/10: Awful. Only given to two anime so far, one that I did not drop. Rosario + Vampire is a great example of a visual insult to an original work. All sense of creativity, character, interactions and development from the manga is totally gone for a cliche ecchi comedy yayayayaya!!!! The only thing holding this back from being 1/10 is maybe I like a few things. I like the Rosario + Vampire characters. That's really it. (I really wish R+V would get a reboot anime that is much closer to the manga.)
1/10: Abysmal: Only given to one anime, "Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures". There is absolutely nothing that I enjoyed of this anime, outside of the characters in their original work. This, like Rosario + Vampire is a huge insult to the original work. What makes it have a lower score is that there are no redeeming qualities, not even the characters which have been entirely modified or removed. When it tries to be serious or introduce plot-lines, it just does not work by the show's general idea itself. I'm sure that by it's 5.1/10 score, and it's highest rated review also being a 1/10, most of you would agree.
Something more would be here, but I'm not sure how to format text to have a profile cool as yours! Don't worry, I'm learning.
Thank you for the birthday wishes everyone! I don't pop into MAL much anymore, but I decided to check because I was receiving email notifications. Much appreciated!
