The official website of the new anime adaptation of Reiko Yoshida and Mia Ikumi's Tokyo Mew Mew manga revealed on Monday the main staff and a teaser visual (pictured). The anime series is scheduled to premiere in 2022.

Series Composition: Yuka Yamada (Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon, Watashi ni Tenshi ga Maiorita!)
Character Design: Satoshi Ishino (Date A Live, A.I.C.O.: Incarnation)
Sound Director: Toshiki Kameyama (Assault Lily: Bouquet, BanG Dream!)
Studio: Yumeta Company, Graphinica

Cast

Mint Aizawa: Mirai Hinata
Lettuce Midorikawa: Ryouko Juuni
Purin Fon: Rian Toda

Yoshida and Ikumi serialized the shoujo fantasy manga in Nakayoshi magazine between August 2000 and December 2002. The duo followed up with a two-volume sequel that ran from March to December 2003. Studio Pierrot produced a 52-episode television anime that aired from Spring 2002 to Winter 2003.

Tokyopop previously published the manga and its sequel in English between 2003 and 2006. Kodansha Comics relicensed the series and released all nine volumes in four omnibuses in 2011.

Wait, is Ichigo's hair while transformed not gonna be pink? I hope that's just a promo art thing, otherwise BOOOOOOO!

Nowadays not as big of a TMM fan as I was back then but WHOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA THAT KEY VISUAL!!!!

All right let's see what we got here...
First off, elephant (or I guess cat XD) in the room: Mew Ichigo looks HELLA different here. Not only is she a lot more red, but also a lot less pink too. Can't hate on there being a more red magical girl though, main characters in magical girl shows are almost ALWAYS pink so this is a bit of a nice shake-up. Even though Mew Ringo's supposed to be the red Mew Mew, but I guess she's not canon :P
Looks like the new anime will be going with the character redesigns from last year's Tokyo Mew Mew 2020 ReTurn one-shot. Interesting.

Don't know anything about director's past work, looks like they've worked with Junichi Sato a few times with stuff like Aria and Tamayura... again, interesting. Series compostion here....... ooh boy they worked on Umi Monogatari............ I mean, that show was okay, I definitely recommend it, but the writing in that show is probably not one of that series' highlights... oh looks like they also worked on Tamayura. Still need to watch that show. I guess I have a good feeling based on these bits of information that these people might pace this new adaptation a bit more slowly. Maybe that's a good thing. Who knows. At least there's an older-style magical girl show after so many years of seinen titles in the genre. 2022 looks somewhat promising already. I just hope Mia Ikumi works on new manga again, her art style and character designs are great but this is pretty much the only thing she's known for lol.

Still hoping that A La Mode gets adapted this time. Mew Berry is probably my favorite Mew Mew.
Fight me.

Omg, I'm crying. This was the first anime I watched back in 2005 and first anime I watched in sub after the dub stopped airing. I'm so excited for this!!! :,) I have nostalgia for Ichigo's old design, but I don't hate this one--she looks cute. Excited for more visuals!!

Key visual looks nice imo. This will also be the first anime that I have seen from Yumeta Company, after the sale from AOI TYO to Memory-Tech.

Always excited to see one of my childhood anime getting a reboot! Although my love for it has long since faded away and I remember some parts in the story made me frustrated and annoyed, I will still definitely look forward to watching this. I remember way back in elementary school when I had a huge crush on Quiche lol. Ugh the cringe. But I know I won't be able to stop grinning when I watch this. I don't remember if I read the manga and if the original anime stuck to the storyline, but hopefully it adapts the whole story fully and faithfully.

Aaaah looking forward to it~
This is literally the anime that led me to actually made me watch my 'first anime'. And my drawing style is highly influenced by mew mew style at first~

although kinda skeptical about the seiyuu idol part about this project

Can't wait, I'm used to Ichigo's hair being pink, but this is a nice take.

I don't think I've known these two studios to work on a lot of big name things, but since there are two of them, and they've had/have so much time, I have no doubt that it'll be a good episode count with good or decent animation

SO SO excited.. Can't wait for this to come out!
I hope eventually we get (at least) a reference to Mew Berry too! I love her.
Also can't wait until merch starts trickling out.. I missed out on buying any of the magical toys back during the original series considering I was really young and didn't have my own income. I don't think I've been this excited for an anime in years! (ignoring the weird idol part of the show as others have mentioned, that IS kind of weird and I'm sincerely hoping it doesn't consume too much of the program)

No, there are plenty of series to adapt, but remakes are all the rage these days, and of course they prove to be extremely profitable, not to mention in demand since a lot of these readaptations are of series that were filler fests, didn't finish, or made up their own ending

Oh, wow. This series is getting a reboot. As this was my first subbed anime and the one that got me into the well or anime in the first place. I'm looking forward to it. Hope it's at least as good (though I won't complain about better) as the original.

I loved this manga when I was a kid but I really disliked the weird spin off stuff with the two new characters (ringo..?). Hope the anime won't be disappointing.

The anime I keep forgetting is a real show.

Tokyo
Mew
Mew

Sounds like the most magical girl parody title in existence.
