Wow. This is only the first episode, and I already don't like Asta. I can understand him getting frustrated with Yuno for being tons better than him (Speaking of Yuno, I really hope he isn't gonna end up being a Gary-Stu, 'cause he's appearing to be a "perfect" character so far), but he is so goddamn obnoxious! Also, what the hell's with the gurgling as well? I really hope he'll tone down the yelling as the series goes on. Besides that, I'm not very invested in this show, but it's only the first episode, so we'll see how it goes (Same with Asta as a character; even without the extremely annoying voice, he's not very likable at the moment). |

A priest finding two babies on his doorstep now thats a interesting start. Wow Asta sure is brash asking a nun to marry you. So Asta is the brash one while Yuno is the calm one thats a nice contrast there. So Magic in this world is commonplace yet Asta cannot use it while Yuno can. But man the scene that introduced the grimoires sure was nice. So Yuno managed to let quite a rare grimoire then. To think those bullies were that foolish though. So Revchi went from a magic knight to a common thief quite the career change. Yuno admitting Yuno is his rival sure changed things. Asta's grimoire's appearance sure was cool. Hmm love the symbolic meaning of the clovers here. A really interesting first episode that did well introducing the world and the main characters. |

Eh. For something so hyped, the first episode seemed really lackluster. It's not bad, but I wasn't overenthused by the way the story's being told. It definitely has room to grow, but for now, I see nothing special. Oh, and I think this guy beats Naruto out on the annoying scale. 3/5 |

People are already making reviews and it's only been one episode... Anyways, this was okay. I think (?) I can see potential with this being very enjoyable even though there has already been a lot of common tropes and it looks pretty cliche, but Asta's voice... lmao. I hope all that yelling stops soon. His yelling is already more annoying to me than Natsu's, Naruto's, and Luffy's. |

Love how people are bashing Asta's voice so much when the guy can actually do brilliant voice acting despite this being his first role. However, people praised Fukami's amateur voice actress from Nana Maru San Batsu and her voice was beyond horrific, emotionless, talentless, and the list could go on. It was cringe inducing to listen to her bland 'voice acting', and yet there's so much emotion in Asta's voice. Yes, it's annoying, yes, HE'S annoying, but from what I've gathered from other people, he's SUPPOSED to be annoying. Have any of ya'll ever watched Naruto a day in your life? Naruto's voice and character is BEYOND annoying, and no one shits all over him or his voice actor. This new guy is definitely going somewhere with his career. Forget the haters. This is brilliant. |

I mean listen to Yato's screaming; that was hilarious! With Asta screaming, it's honestly unbearable. Idk. I just though he deserves a better seiyuu. Apparently, Asta's seiyuu is a beginner (the hate on his profile, maaan, what the fuck). Lmao. Heck, I might get used to it later. Let's give him a chance, folks. I personally thought the problem with Asta's voice was that it was too deep, I think Hiroshi's voice would be too masculine for a 15yr old boy who is supposed to be energetic and immature. I personally think Ayumu Murase would be a good fit as he voiced Hinata Shouyou and both characters share quite a few similarities. Kamiyan is a very versatile seiyuu, I think he can do Asta great, and I bet a lot of people will like/love him if his seiyuu is someone like Kamiyan. And yes Ayumu Murase is a good choice, too. Although I love Hiroshi's voice too and it's always a blessing to hear, even with his versatility in his pitch, I don't think his rich, deep voice would have matched Asta's character. For characters such as Yato that you used as a comparison, Yato is an adult who has childish quirks, so his deep voice works for the character's age and appearance and he can use a more silly high voice for the comedic effects of Yato's personality. However, Asta is a 15 year old boy who's whole personality (so far) is that of a immature, energetic, obnoxious child. So an energising and bouncy voice would compliment and bring out this personality more. Alrighty then. Now I get where you're coming from. Good point. :) Ayumu Murase is a great choice, yeah. The animation and art for the episode was actually quite well done. I actually really liked the scene where Asta was about to cut the log, it was pretty dynamic. I also don't think the CGI chains were bad at all, I just hope Pierrot stays consistent with their quality. Faithful adaptation so far, for everyone who's read the manga it's pretty obvious what to expect and for newcomers I will say that Black Clover may certainly feel pretty classic with all the standard elements but if you like Shounen in general then you're probably gonna find yourself entertained by it. I hope Pierrot stays faithful to the manga as well. It's gonna take some time for me to get used to Asta's VA, I keep imagining his voice to be different that what it actually is, I feel like something like Hinata's voice from Haikyuu would work much better for him. He certainly is a little too loud but that's his character after all. Fucking Asta, The Great Value Naruto and his life with Not Fairy Tail Never knew you hated this series as much as you do. xD Is it just because the starting feels so generic in execution? I agree on that aspect and that the start is certainly rather uninspired but I felt it got better as I continued reading the manga. |

Exactly what I thought, from Murase's performance as Hinata we can see that he can be loud and obnoxious (yet not grating or irritating), but also serious and almost 'deadly'. And from the tone of this series I'm guessing Asta will also have to show these two sides, so I believe Murase would have been an almost perfect fit. |

Asta and Yuno have an interesting dynamic going on so I'm curious to see how the show will handle. Regarding Asta being loud and obnoxious, he's not even close as bad as Bakugou from My Hero Academia. I didn't mind him much in the manga but the kid was aids in the anime. |

The best part of the episode was the beginning when they were babies. That part actually hit me. When Asta appeared 15 years later I had to visit an otorhinolaryngologist. The episode went from bad to worse and that's not taking into account the source material which was actually not badly adapted. Either way, an overall weak version of Naruto that the voice actors managed to make worse than it should have been... |

MC's voice is one of the worst I've heard in anime in a while. It's just obnoxiously grating in every possible way. Underwhelming start just like the manga. I just see a lame combination of Naruto, Fairy Tail, and every other popular battle shounen. The villain sucked and his crappy CG chains gave me flashbacks to Hand Shakers. Asta's VA is plain horrible. He really needs to chill out with the constant screaming and stretching his words. I don't care how much backlash the VA is currently getting. I actually prefer Asta's current VA than the one in the OVA. And it's not that the VA is annoying or his fault in the first place. He's new, and he's doing fine as it is. I couldn't picture anyone else more suited for Asta than him. I bet everyone wouldn't be constantly complaining how annoying it is if he wasn't yelling so much but it's part of Asta's character (which I find charming). Nothing can change it. |

This is essentially Blue Exorcist meets Fairy Tail. Asta's voice is absolutely grating whenever he starts shouting or yelling, which is about 80% of the time. If he wasn't shouting all the time, his voice would be okay. Why do so many shonen MCs always have to be so damn loud? |

I didn’t read full topic so maybe I’ll repeat some people’s answer, but I wanted to say my opinion about this anime. First it attracted me, it’s fantasy and the anime has pretty good score, but after I watched first episode my first thought was “how can it have so high score?”. No, really, I liked setting, but that’s it. Main characters are bad, especially Astra, he was annoying me during full episode, Yuno doesn’t really interesting too, they really remind Naruto and Sasuke with magic. The story looks boring too, everything interesting could be to get know about main characters origin. Maybe I’ll check out some reviews one more time later to see does it have any changes in a good way, but for now, I don’t think I’m gonna watch featuring episodes. |

ttcchen said: At first glance, I thought it's gonna be another cliche shounen anime, especially with this rival thing, the mc being hyperactive, loud, bash, being looked down upon, and his rival being quiet, dark hair, strong, everyone likes him... Then it turns out that this rivalry is a friendly competition. They don't hate each other. And they actually are friends, instead of this love-hate relationship between frenemy. Despite the main character having a strong demon power (like how Naruto has Kyuubi, Maliodas has sin of wrath...etc), Yuno, his rival, wasn't jealous of him, even if he's always been the stronger one (except when he's younger), now even though Asta turned out to have the "stronger" power, he still treats him the same. This made this anime bearable (at the very least) to watch, despite the heavy shounen cliches and setups. The character relationship are interesting and different. I hope this friendly rivalry will continue and one of them (most likely Yuno) won't turn dark or something. I hope it stays like Gon/Killua (this floating book thing DOES remind me of Greed Island lol). for the most part the manga plays on clichés but puts it's own spin on it. I hope the anime does it justice as the manga is a great example of battle shounen done right. No cheap power ups, no ass pulls, and no ridiculously absurd power levels that completely devalue the rest of the cast. Black clover is really takes an ordinary shounen premise and elevates it with good writing. I really love the series |

I've never seen this in my life. There is a lot of anime out there and not many of us can watch them all. If you test drive a car and don't like it the steering, you don't buy it hoping you'll get used to it. If you have a bad first date with someone, you don't continue seeing them in hopes you will eventually get along. If you interview someone and they fail to impress, you don't hire them to humor the possibility that they might have been nervous. First impressions mean everything, so I don't see why you think it is unreasonable for people to judge this show by its first episode - especially one with so many flaws. My first impression is that the story seems cliche and poorly written, the main characters are going to become super overpowered for absolutely no reason and then they'll try to explain it by revealing that their parents are actually gods or something. Not spoiling I'm literally just guessing but that's how every immature fantasy anime story line goes. For me, this is distasteful since I don't like it when writers portray their characters as overwhelmingly perfect or just flat out unrealistic. |

Besides that, I'm not very invested in this show, but it's only the first episode, so we'll see how it goes (Same with Asta as a character; even without the extremely annoying voice, he's not very likable at the moment). ah ha, he does tone down a bit in the manga, but from time to time we see that obnoxious personality rear it's head lol. I personally like it, he has a distinct personality and doesn't try to be what he's not. |

It's... only the first episode and I already don't like the MC. At all. My god, the yelling was too much. He did it nearly every time he was either mad or when he even opened his mouth. I'm afraid that I'll have the feeling of dropping this soon if this continues to be as annoying as this in the next episode or two. Other than that, it was okay. Nothing really special. A few of the things looked like it tried to be funny in some form, like whatever that old man giving grimoires out yelled in the middle of his speech. I'll stick around just in case though, since I am usually proven otherwise that it'll be good or interesting in some way. |
