When I wrote "kills a bunch of people" I was referring to her starting a giant killer melee for no reason (well in the old series there was a good reason) other than sheer spite
It's probably gonna get deleted due to the "no reviews before episode 4" malarkey but I'll just resubmit it
I've only seen the first episode of MiA and it looks aright, but I doubt I'll ever get to writing a review for it anytime soon. BnHA S2 did nothing for me. I thought the tournament arc overall was pretty boring and I just have not bothered watching anymore of it after that arc.
PB is one of my favourite films in general. My favourite work ever by Satoshi Kon
As for the DR3 characters only being there to get killed, there's a big difference between that and what DR1 did. DR1's characters had a lot more setup, their deaths were more impactful, and their absence was really felt as more of the school opened up for you to explore but with fewer and fewer characters around making it feel even more empty. Like, let's look at, say, Izayoi and Kizakura. Izayoi never did a single thing and no one cared that he died. He brought nothing to the story or the cast dynamic aside from being Ruruka's slave. Kizakura spent most of the show being a red herring and then dying as soon as he started being relevant. Again, no one cared and the cast's dynamic doesn't change at all. I'll give you Leon as DR1's one totally disposable sacrifice, since he died mostly to show the executions, but even Sayaka had a lasting impact on DR1. DR1 lost something each time a character died, something it could never get back because they're gone for good. DR3 was just shedding filler in a story that was also filler. I wouldn't even say that Ruruka or Seiko were particularly deep or developed. Seiko was cute and endearing, so it was sad when she died. That was it, she offered nothing else. Ruruka was the designated crazy asshole and she played that one role until her unceremonious death, which not one of the surviving cast even acknowledged.
I can't defend any of DR3's writing. It's bad. It's real bad. I respect that some can find it fun, but I felt like I just wasted my time and I'd never recommend it to anyone.
