Altair is way too broken she is now officially more powerful than Goku and Saitama. Not in raw power but she does have the ability to defeat almost any character now. And she can't be killed by existence erasure unless it's on a universal or multiversal scale.

what kind of utter bullshit is this? they should rename this anime with the name of "Asspulls:The animation" Altair is way too broken for being even a fan art character (no matter how many plot conveniences she has, its still way to overpowered)

that aside, seems like I was right about summoning Sota's friend... as for how the heck will that help to stop Altair, I don't really care, but just end this for Kami-sama's sake!

let me call it, Altair will commit double suicide alongside sota's friend after a full "emotional" episode

You guys still don't get it.
THIS WAS ALL PART OF ALTAIR'S PLAN TO MEET HER CREATOR AGAIN!!!

We were played, Altair is the real main character, we're just seeing the story from her enemies POV. When she was talking about viewers and acceptance...it was talking to us! , We're the real viewers!

The staff listed on MAL is fake, the real staff goes like this:
Director, Series Composition: Altair
Series Composition, Original Creator, Original Character Design: Altair
Scrip: Altair
Animation Director: Altair

this anime was created by Altair just to make her popular!!!
we got it all wrong!!

Gotta say, I even marked this anime as "Dropped", but still watching it just because of Altair.

To be honest, I really hate how it was aired, the idea of Altair getting more powerful due to people in PIXIV drawing her and they even show those draws is freaking epic, but the anime itself is weak.

Altair is the only character that really does anything, the other are just there to fight her, we barely know anything about them and they barely do anything at all.

Altair is awesome and I fucking love her new design, but that's about it, couldn't care less about any other characters.

Also the reason why I dropped this, it was actually because they managed to make "1 filler episode, 1 recap episode and 1week break"
For some reason that gave me a feeling that the people behind RE:CREATORS just don't give a shit anymore, I might be wrong, and I hope am I, but still...

they really don't give a shit, just looks as how many asspulls and predictable stuff is happening. they aren't even trying anymore

this anime managed to do what i never thought i'd want. it made me want the predictable thing to happen. Sirius being sucked into Altair's character (or the opposite?) was pretty expected ever since they said she had no character which made me feel it'd be lame if that didn't actually happen (also she "defeated" her too quickly so if Altair didn't stay a little bit longer, it'd be even lamer). i've wished for the Setsuna thing to happen for a while now and when they started talking about a character being their trump card that has no acceptance, i was on the edge of my seat. i can't believe they actually pulled it off. if there were more episodes left in the series (and more characters that are alive. lol), my next guess would be that they will show Altair Setsuna committing suicide again and she'll try to help her but will fail making her furious but that's probably never going to happen. i guess something will happen that makes Setsuna really come back to life (or a copy of her? Swampman dilemma? Souma Sumere v2.0?) and they'll be able to defeat Altair or she'll turn good or something but not before either another fight or a long, emotional episode. only 2 episodes left :(

I got to be honest just from the comments I've seen so far about Setsuna's appearance I kind of find this anime even more brilliant because remember what they had to do to get her to appear.

They had to use Magane's power because the audience (including us) were not going to accept her appearance and low and behold even if the outcome was predictable the creators of this anime knew that already going in.

That's indeed very meta. The final inception move from the authors. But justifying the appearence of Setsuna doesn't mean gaining more acceptance from the real audience (us) for what it seems. At least in MAL.

In my opinion it wasn't necessarily a bad move but knowing it beforehand disappointed me a bit. But this episode we had two plot twists so maybe there is something more coming next episode¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I hope so at least.
There is no hope, just posibilities. If the chance isn't 0, then we say there's hope.

i like Altair as hatsune miku with literal meme power up, but this episode is just following the cliche route far too much. they are basically pulling a sekaisuru kado climax right now, but TWICE (since the first alter clone failed). i can already see nothing good will happen after they recreated shimazaki suicide scene. it will be just lame emotional damage to nerf the overpowered altair and then beat her with whatever asspull that they can commit.

They keep saying that they foreshadowed alter altair in the crossover story that they are making, but it would be way better if there is a foreshadowing in the ACTUAL re:creators anime, with Souta as the creator. at least all those monotonous dialogues means SOMETHING instead of shitty padding, and it also give Souta ACTUAL role in this anime as the main character. since his role basically just telling everyone "altair creator is Shimazaki btw". lame as fuck, and even then his friends already found it about it anyway even before he told them lmao.

and they should've never created Magane to begin with, what a useless padding waste of time character.

I suspect Magane still has a role to play; her "great miracle emperor plan" is still active, after all.

Did it pull the same thing as Kado? Sort of. The setup for it here is better, though, which is what actually makes it good. This episode tied in items and comments made by various characters as far back as episode 8. So why Sirius failed is readily apparent. As Meteora commented back in episode 8 of Altair's base character, White Clover, Sirius has "no backbone;" all she had was a story, but no personality or will of her own.

All this time, Re:Creators has been setting up the logic for this sequence, which is why it plays out so well, in contrast to Kado, where ZaShuina devolves into a stock elitist villain within the scope of a single episode.

The only question that actually remains unanswered at this point with respect to Altair is how she even got summoned in the first place.

As regards Shimazaki:

Yes, they dropped hints all along. It was obvious from the moment Souta mentioned adding a new character that this was going to be the outcome. The producers also pretty explicitly stated that Shimazaki was the real heroine of the story.

Is it generic? Sure, but it's also rock solid, well developed, and executed well enough that this sort of thing being unoriginal as a narrative device doesn't really matter. It still has impact, still imparts enjoyment and emotion.

I get the sense that you're deliberately missing the overall thrust and point of the show because you want something to criticize here.

i think that's the point. just think of it realistically. if there was a fan-fic/original character that good popular on forums with everybody adding to its powers, people will likely make that character too overpowered. just think of Saitama, Goku or Zeno-sama and the rest of the Dragon Ball universe and how extremely overpowered they are and all the fan-fic about them making them so overpowered. now apply all that to a character that has no restraint with no original creator to call for copyrights or even make something "canon" about them. everybody would start creating all kinds of powers and even have some rivalry into making which power more overpowered (think of it of kids playing rock paper scissors and creating different types of moves to beat the other opponent like lasers or dinosaurs). it would have been an asspull if it was created with Altair having an actual backstory but her origin story just makes it make all the more sense

Yeah, I understand that, yet the ones against Altair, didn't even got a chance to think of closing the fan art pages in order to stop Altair, and lets not forget how conveniently this anime has 22 episodes, where each one just makes Altair more powerful withing time, and now, they don't have any idea of how to beat their villain...

I honestly dislikes those 2 anime you mentioned, due to how "who has the biggest dick" ish they are

well, as far as how they've been wasting time within each episode (this assuming that each episode multiplies Altair's power by 3) the most viable way is to bring Setsuna to calm down Altair, otherwise each creation they use in order to stop Altair, will fail miserably

It could happen, but I think that it's a long shot. Going by the plot we've been given, the Resurrection of Shimazaki Setsuna is the moment of redemption for Altair. With the appearance of her creator, the person who she loves most, the entire reason for her being thus far becomes null and void. Altair effectively loses her reason and will to fight, unless she is so far gone that she's willing to destroy her own creator in order to exact revenge based upon her ideal version of her own creator.

Since Altair cannot be defeated by force of arms, she must be forced to reject herself.

What you are saying is can happen. Based on OP; Altair will move out her existence from this creator world. She might delete herself, might move to another planet-parallel universe. She might turn into a creator. She might create a new world and take away her yuri love created Setsuna together and never come back. Or she might turn into a god and torture the creators.

But, how can they deceive/make Altair believe that Setsuna is genuine? After all, doesn't she know that her creator is gone already? I think that Setsuna is not real Setsuna but a modifed persona/creation from Sota's point of resolution since he may know something about Setsuna, but Altair doesn't.

That's pretty impressive, if you think about it. For me, this show has had an emotional hook and an intellectual hook. I've enjoyed how they've consistently tied all the strings together, even to vague mentions in the story-building as far as 12 episodes back.

Sirius was always going to fail, but they went further and actually explained (in episode 8 and then in episode 13/14) as to why it wouldn't work; the audience would reject it. Lo and behold, the reactions of the audience both in the show and out here.

Fundamentally, this show is about the process of creation, about how stories are told (or not), about personal involvement, investment and growth. It still hasn't strayed for that, and has touched upon new themes as it goes along. Were it literally "elimination chamber: the anime," I don't think I would have stayed with it.

As Gangster Cat griped, the show sort of pulled a "Sekaisuru Kado." However, it was so well tied into the rest of the storytelling and development that it feels like a logical continuation. It was readily apparent that Sirius wouldn't work, and that Souta's plan would be necessary, readily apparent and explained that Altair couldn't be defeated with force of arms, so this is the logical (and explained) conclusion.

As such, I really don't understand why I'm seeing all the complaints; it's not a masterpiece, but it's definitely a good show and far better than most of what's been coming out lately.

No surprise that Altair come back after what Sirius did, she was not going to be beaten that easily.

That plot twist at the end, adding her own creator into the story.

You don't have to defend it to your friends, you know. It stands on its own merits; if they don't like it, then too bad. The show is strong enough at this point that it feels like people who are griping about it are doing so deliberately to have something to gripe about.

Story feels very mass produced. I could not believe that all of my predictions were correct.

Why the hell would you build a bunch of characters for 15-19 episodes just to murder them in 20 seconds in ep20. Literally all of my favorites are gone. Altair should have died 4 times already.

The whole story feels like the guy who wrote it just had an "idea", the corporate folks liked it and then he had no idea how to go on about the story. In the last 5 episodes all that happened is artificial pumping of the story with deus ex machining and small talk.

It's funny how the show talks about acceptance, yet the audience doesn't mind the awfully boring and flat overpowered antagonist that won't die. They also have no problems with the popular characters just dying.

I only watch this for the sake of finishing it at this point, now that all of my favorite characters are gone. The idea of anime characters getting transported into the real world was pretty neat and I loved that. What I got in the end was a dry drama that reminds me of Kado. The same excitement, the same bullshit deus ex machining, the same ruined potential for a fun show.

Aren't people are watching to see what Altair does next? She's insanely overpowered and she has almost ended the battle already. There is no beating her on the field, no clone, no friendship blast, no nothing. It's entirely psychological.

After such an emotional episode last week the action really ramped up and unfortunately it ended up feeling like Selesia just dies and everyone moves on...so she feels forgotten in a way

Sirius was a cool addition and it looked like they finally had Altair on the ropes...but in reality it was as Hikayu said...they aren't the heroes of this story

Sota's final attempt to defeat Altair is to bring Altair to the moment of Setsuna's suicide...wow! With only two episodes left thing will be getting even more intense!

I found his solution quite right. The author put a lot of logic into this, since Satsuna's own insertion would be a risk. People complain about what they claim to be predictable, but predictability was what was being worked on there, in a way. The story the creators set up is what the characters narrate on the screen, while viewers believe. What people see as cliché, I see as logical, within the story of the creators, and within the story of the script of Re: Creators. Being risky implies exactly what the creators feared. The author of the series did the right thing, in my opinion. Unfortunately there are people of slow thinking and ill will. But do what? It is not?

Daaaamn! Now that is honestly unexpected. Not in a way that blew my brains out but in a way i never thought this story would go.

From plentiful 4th wall breaking and intermingling of story characters into reality into story into anime . . .

Now we've gone full Rewrite!

Thinking about it though, i've always been of the opinion that Altair needs to be SAVED not defeated. I was always thinking to myself, "how do you save the daughter of a dead person, when she's given up on the world because her mother is gone?" This is one way to do it.

Funny how they keep referencing the foreshadowing done in the spinoff novel as if any of the real audience has a clue of it's contents. What a way to cover their asses for any asspull. They can have anything happen as long as someone says "wow it's a good thing we foreshadowed this!". Why would they *not* give Sirius a personality and backstory in order to differentiate her from the utter shallowness of Altair? Why would the audience accept her otherwise when she's the trump card!
I have to roll my eyes at the idea of Altair facing any challenges thus far when all her moves amount to "no, ur stabbed" and barely having to lift a finger to defeat someone. All series until the final battle she's spent sitting on her ass doing absolutely nothing. There's no hard work here or any sort of character arc for her. What promise did she have with Setsuna? Because I don't remember her asking Altair to end the world. What the hell is Hikayu speaking of and what is heroic about it? They didn't need to kill Selesia and Alice for such nonsense. With how quickly the show cast it aside it's like it happened ages ago.

Wow...this was unexpected.
So they created a copy of Altair but she possessed it.
I was expecting that Altair's creator was the last "card" but repeating the whole train part, well that i wasn't expecting. I still hope for a great ending.

Funny how they keep referencing the foreshadowing done in the spinoff novel

Altair is aware of their work so they have to keep secrets too. They can't just telegraph every option and every attack, so that she doesn't enact countermeasures. Sirius worked to some extent so they have done an adequate work.
