They confirmed the same cast long ago. At least for Sosuke, Kaname and Tessa.

Script, Series Composition: Shoji Gotoh

mal was a bit late but its all good

Xebec is a good studio dont let ppl tell you Kyoani is better. Xebec can be 10X more skilled than kyoani. So dont fret with the studio change.

Beside the director is basically a GOD director

@moodie I disliked the change from GONZO to Kyoto Animation, but I don't really see a problem this time (well, I only know XEBEC for some average to bad early2000s anime).

Would you please tell me how the director reached this status? Because I only found one series he directed, apart from that he was mainly a drawer who went on directing some episodes.

i vaguely recall them saying it a while ago but i really hope for 2D mechs, xebec does have experience with that and can make some damn good looking ones when they really try, but they have been more reliant on cgi as of recent.

edit: never mind guess 2D mechs are confirmed since i missed this

Finally a date!!

My only hope is that it isn't rushed but I have faith in Gotoh. I'm a little sad that DVMC being audio-only probably means it won't be animated but that's the right decision if this is a 24epi series. Maybe they can animate it later as an OVA.

Gatoh has more control over FMP anime than he has ever had before. He's writing the script for every single episode so it should be just fine. With all the experience he has making anime he can guide the new director properly. A lot of the old staff returning is also a good sign. I'm feeling very good this can surpass what Gonzo and KyoAni did.

And to think I got all hot and bothered thinking Fafner season 3 would be what XEBEC and Hirai were up to once they got the concurrent free time. Ah well, back to the original 2020 prediction.

Most likely a continuation, since it would not make any sense to call it fmp 4.

A non-Gundam show with 2D mechs in 2017? I would love to see that. I know you can get used to CGI after a couple episodes, but 2D mechs always look better than CGI.

Seems like they will just continue the story, which is for the best because everyone just wants to see more rather than the same first season done differently.

Why it is hard to follow FMP, even though you want it.

1. Old anime
2. Common quality online : 360p

Was not too fond of the series so far, guess I might still watch it. But didn't expect Xebec as animation studio, but seeing how they do pretty a good work with Keijo I can see it working.

It's been 11 years since the last season, pretty much shows how the industry is running out of ideas.

This will be a good return to my roots as FMP was one of the first anime I ever watched. It's a shame I've forgotten most of the story since I watched it so long ago. Hmm, to re-watch or not to re-watch. That is the question.

Maybe they realised to late that they could make a 3rd season and just decided that a re-adaptation would be a better idea because releasing just another sequal after so long will only lose fans.

But has it been comfirmed that it will be a sequel? As far as I know that hasn't been comfirmed yet.
Plus where is the 3rd season then? As far as I know it only has 2 seasons and some spin ofs

If this season is called the 4th by them then it would seem the answer is yes

Well plenty of time for me to do that in preparation of this, I liked the first season from what I can remember.

Looks promising. While I'm not really that fond of the series because of Kaname, it still should be a decent action show. Would be nice to see a proper mecha show instead of all that crap like Argevollen or that thing with bitchy policewoman, whatever it was called.

Still, why IV when the second season is even called The Second Raid and Fumoffu was just a comedy spin off.

Assuming this is the "4th" I assume this will continue off of 2nd Raid. Then again the key visual with Tessa, Chidori and Sousuke were obvious hints. This is great news!! I am pretty sad that I'll have to wait another year from the looks of it, but that will probably give them plenty of time to assure quality in the work.

Yeah but that doesn't disqualify this new staff or make them inferior by any means. I still believe it has potential to surpass KyoAni's work. Yeah, no Takemoto hurts but it's far from the end of the world. In return we get more of Gatoh's influence so I think it's a fair trade.
