If Kakeru's suicide was one day before they send the time capsule, how did he send his letter?

I know that's possible that they've sent it in different days or the letter was ready before, but I'm in doubt, I've missed the answer in the manga or it's a Ichigo's mistake?

Really mixed feeling about this manga, started very strong for a shoujo and the drama is great, but the characters were a real letdown imo, the manga relied far too much on it's story and the characters just went with flow. Also i really hated Kakeru from start to finish, the mangaka was probably trying to make him out as insecure or vulnerable but to me he came out as selfish and a real jerk, and everytime Naho or anyone else went out of their way for him, it just made me rage.

8 out of 10.

I really loved the concept, pacing as well as the storytelling. But the thing is, it doesn't leave much of an impact like the other amazing shoujos with a unique plot. The entire story revolves around one idea, saving Kakeru. And that's it. There is little to no growth for any of the other characters. No extra subplots. It just felt kind of one dimensional overall. Like, yay we saved our boy Kakeru! That's it.

I am still really impressed by the monologues and the small details such as the relay being a metaphor for Kakeru's life. I think this is a good series about suicide though.

The series ended quite fast, but I guess the plot doesn't really offer more volumes for it..

Anywaaaay, I love this manga. The plot is one of the best plots ever, and I'm already satisfied with this cliche ending. I'm rooting for SuwaxNaho but meh, like what Suwa said it's already nuff that that dream is granted is another world.

Chapter 22 is the final? then the last 5 chapters will be extras?

Anyway, I loved the ending, I loved how nothing has changed to the future them, but rather, created another parallel world where Kakeru have lived. It's tragic but realistic, I mean, you can't really change the past if we follow the 'parallel world' logic, but knowing that Kekaru didn't die in another world will remove all the regrets they had been carrying for the past 10 years.I think that's enough.

I've always regarded this as one of the most highly acclaimed shoujo series out there, and in which it didn't disappoint.

Glad to see Kakeru alive, his smile is just so great!

I would like to think that future Naho does genuinely love Sura, as Sura as a whole deserves very much. It really did fit their character of their choice on whether or not to actually talk about the marriage and all. With Naho being focused primarily on just one thing, while Suwa's letter even took the receptionist's feelings into much of a consideration, after all, Future Suwa and Suwa both had a clear idea how things would end. It makes me like Suwa more, though Kakeru was adorable at many times too. Whoever makes Naho the happiest to wherever the chain of events may lead, this was a great manga!

Hagita from gifting Azu that umbrella despite the circumstances and now this, the one that managed to make me laugh out loud.

Some sort of epilogue to see the new time capsule being opened would be great.
I guess in a way, this left something to be desired, though nothing major. Sorta contradicting myself...

Kakeru's been acting a bitch these past chapters, but I held out a sliver of hope that his death could have been an accident. But no, he fucking walked/rode in front of that truck. Future truck-driver is forced to live with the guilt of having killed some stupid high school kid. It also probably ruined his plans for that day. Self-serving motherfucker. Same with how he treats Naho. Still got time to dump him for Suwa.

Suwa deserves better though.

Loved the ending, that's a pretty clever solution for a love triangle.

Hagita the best.

Parallel worlds. Everybody wins... each in a different world. Good ending. I was fearing that he wouldn't change.

Even though the Naho had some facepalmworthy moments earlier in the series. She grew to be more assertive. This series... one of the best Shoujo's I've read or witnessed ever. It wasn't as cheesy or melodramatic as some other ones like Ao Haru Ride, Kaichou Wa Maid Sama or some Kareshi...

WOOT 8/10. Very enjoyable. Need an epilogue to be perfect.

Couldn't have said it better myself, and despite its somewhat confusing ending, that was my conclusion as well- parallel words as described by their sensei. The future was still holding, with Suwa and Naho married and with a baby; but in another world, there existed a Kakeru that was alive and happy. Oh the feels.

(First post! Made an account as this was my first manga ever completed and can't wait for the next. Nice to meet you all!)

I really enjoyed reading this manga, a very good one and not your typical love story. I really liked Suwa as a character so from now on he will be one of my favourites :D Hagita is funny too, especially in this chapter with the bike. I wish the author developed a bit more the relation between Hagita and Azusa, I think it would have ended pretty cool. Last chapter was nice, I'm glad they saved Kakeru and it's a happy ending, but it would have been more epic if someone died saving him. Just a thought.
Nevertheless, it's a strong 8/10.

It's parallel worlds people, future suwa gets to have naho and the alternate universe where kakeru lives get's to have naho.

Everybody wins so stop crying about the no naho x suwa!

I think suwa is gonna end up with that girl with long black hair, had a feeling she might of liked suwa because she kept pushing suwa to reveal his feeling for naho because she wanted him to be happy..

Maybe i'm crazy, I don't know lol

I have read Orange all over again from the first chapter to the last, last night and so now I have every bit of piece on my head compared to the first time I read it. And my opinion has not changed since the first time as I still think the reason this manga is so good is because of Suwa. I could probably write 10 pages on how wonderful a person he is but it still wouldn't be enough.

I felt bad for Kakeru throughout the manga because of his fate which led him to the path of killing himself but I never felt any emotional connection to him getting to be with Naho, and their being together would be the way for him to be saved (irrespective of the timeline). I know it's a shoujo manga and almost all the time the girl gets the person she loves in the end; and thus Naho got Kakeru in the end. I think I shed tears the moment her letter from the future revealed that the valentine's day chocolate was actually for Kakeru and not for Suwa. Wouldn't that mean when the 10 year older Naho earlier said she would have picked Suwa over Kakeru in the future because how overjoyed she was on the new year eve confession from him to be nothing but words out of sympathy for the 10 year older Suwa? After carefully seeing his smile at that time, I realized Suwa knew all along he was just a replacement, which I found unbelievably cruel for such a wonderful person as he is.

The next person I would think who is worth a mention is Hagita. I think if there is an outcome that I didn't like in the future was that Kakeru's death might have resulted in a future where Azu was no longer with him. If we see how close they have been, it almost looked natural that Azu and Hagita were meant for one another yet Taka from the future revealed that Azu was never the same after Kakeru's death which led to her distancing herself from both Hagita and Suwa. Hagita is my second favourite character in the manga after Suwa and it is his straightforwardness that earned him my admiration.

Azu and Taka are wonderful friends and as girls it was almost certain that they would choose Naho's feelings over Suwa's. They were always there for Naho through thick and thin which make them so lovable.

And finally Naho and Kakeru. I think the only thing that I cared for was the fact that they were the ones the story actually revolved around. Two of my least favourite characters in the manga if I am being honest. But if their being together (at least for now) saves Kakeru, which ultimately would result in a future where the six friends stay close like they are now in present, I would like to think this as a manga that promotes the beauty of true friendship and NOT romance because every time I recall the light expressions of (fake) contentment of Suwa, or the existence of that cute baby he had with Naho, I feel there is a black hole formed deep inside of me.

My throat nearly ripped out of myself when I thought Kakeru died again. I just barely contained my need to scream because the rest of the house is asleep lol

... And then the next page happened and sufficiently quelled my terror :D

I think everything was tied up pretty nicely. I'm happy to think that both Suwa and Kakeru win the girl in the end. Yay for fictional parallel worlds! (But since we don't have that particular luxury at the present time, I'd say that the moral of the story is to live without regrets and hold your loved ones close.) Definitely giving this manga a high score <3

i was worried this would either end in a bitter tragedy or a too shoujo-y unrealisitcally happy ending, but thankfully it ended somewhere in the middle. i hated the last chapter for giving me a fuckign heart attack when it seemed like he'd died, then making me almost tear up the way things resolved, then laugh at the whole 'hagita ruined his bike' thing...i think that although it was too abrupt of an ending, the last few scenes of them revealing the letters to kakeru and future naho's last sentiments were truly heartwarming for me.

tbh this will probably one of my favorite manga for a very long time (until i cross more that surpass it?), but i'm still left a little unfilfilled at what could have made this a 10/10 - i was dying to know how they sent the letters in the first place, how their futures in the alternate timeline ended up, whether suwa found soME form of happiness in soccer fame or a new love or fuck give that kid SOMETHING he's too good and pure for this world. i also would really have liked a more in depth development or subplot involving azu/hagita/takako, because even as the lesser main characters they rly interested me and i wanted to know more!!! and totally thought the last five chapters would lead to more but apparently those are all for that 'haruiro astronaut' unrelated story............ and now i have to live with this feeling a little incomplete! but hey, they saved him, i loved the main characters, and the art was impeccable

also, not that anyone's likely to even read this but the whole treatment and misunderstanding of kakeru's character by a LOT of the readers on multiple websites made me really sad and i wish I could more properly explain just how accurately the mangaka portrayed him as a legitimately ill and depressed teenager in a realistic manner - his actions perceived as selfish or cruel by some resonated with me as a person who's had depression for god, almost half my life, and i empathized so much with the 'wall' he built and even more so with naho and everyone's joint effort and ability to slowly tear that wall down and make him realize that he is wanted, which is HARD/ impossible to realize when you're fucking depressed and you view yourself as this worthless thing that only causes harm and pain and it truly makes you want to build a wall and disappear in order to not hurt anyone else. i think the reality of that portrayal is what alienated a lot of viewers, which is totally understandable but also kind of a shame, and I wish more people had looked at his intentions a little less as selfish acts and more as how hard it is to view the world in the same way others view it when you've got a severe mental illness

The end broke my heart. I don't know how to read the last scene, as a parallell future maybe. But anyway it feels like that doesn't count. The important thing is that Naho does not choose Suwa who I like so very much and it must have broken his heart. I think he went too far in his attempt to save Kakeru. Suwa should have confessed his love. Why Suwa, WHY!!?? :'( :'(

To guys who wish for the 5 extra chapters since the manga says it has 27 chapters....

I'm sorry to tell you but Orange is likely to be ended on the chapter 22. Yeps, no extras. The other 5 chapters are from the other manga from the same author, Haruiro Astronaut. It does contain 5 chapters if you check it out, consistent to the number of remaining chapters of Orange.

Because Haruiro Astronaut is bundled together with the tankoubon version of Orange, that's why the manga says 27 chapters; 22 chapters from Orange, and the other 5 chapters are from Haruiro Astronaut.

I'm personally still wishing for extras since there are stuffs that I wish were explained, they left me curious! But Orange has already licensed and translated in my country, and the fact of 22 + 5 chapters I mentioned previously is true. Orange has 5 five volumes, so each volume contains a chapter of Haruiro Astronaut on the end of the book.

The best shoujo I have ever read. Not just your ordinary teenage love manga. It talks about so much more. The depression of Kakeru felt so real every time he talked about his mother. Glad he didn't commit suicide and learns about the beauty of life. Stay strong and move forward.

I'm not really into shoujo (not if doesn't have an "ai" right after it) but I decided to give this one a shot because it has an interesting premise and I'm glad I did, it was actually a good read. I liked the friendship dynamic, I didn't hate the mc which I generally do (although she could be quite ???? sometimes, like when Kakeru confessed and she was afraid to give him an answer because she didn't want to be a bother to him???), it was also really funny besides being really depressing most of the time. It's 8/10 for me because the time-travel explanation was quite messy imo, the annoying antagonist presence (Ueda) which is always so common and such a cheap way to create drama and the end felt like it was missing something.

Also, Taka is best girl.

Wait, What? This was the final chapter? Oh man, I feel so bad haha, I didn't get emotionally involved because I thought there were 5 more chapters left, so I took it lightly.

I really liked it though, kinda rushed and all but the story is a 10/10. But I don't know if it deserves a perfect score (on my list) because I'm not fond of open endings in stories that actually NEED closure.

I guess it's because this manga had publishing problems, and I don't know if this is true but I'm 100% sure that I read somewhere that the mangaka was tired of making this manga, and her publishers obliged her to continue.

Anyway, it is what it is and I really enjoyed it. Can't wait for the anime adaptation :)

So F. Naho made a vow to save Kakeru again and again and again, even though she will not "witness" her accomplishments. But atleast she saved Kakeru. :)

So in the current timeline Kakeru x Naho and
then in the "future" world, is still Suwa x Naho.

Those sudden confessions are a bit... Meh... Oh well, good manga. :)

A rushed ending but satisfactory. My heart aches for Suwa. 7/10 (rounded down) from me. I like how they didn't confirm whether Naho married Kakeru or Suwa in the current timeline so it's left up to the audience.
I'm just gonna pretend it's Suwa since Takano Ichigo drew an alternate picture of him standing with the adult versions of the characters and Suwa is still holding onto his baby with Naho (and Naho said she would pick Suwa in any timeline).

I loved this manga. It's wonderful, I would never spect that it'd turn out this way. The story was much deeper than I thought, and I really liked its message, it's simply beautiful.
But, the suicide theme... I really wasn't expecting that. It impacted me way more than I thought, especially in that chapter where it shows Kakeru's point of view until the moment he committed suicide. That impacted me so much, and I cried so much that I didn't have forces to cry at the end of the manga. I got very sad, but that ending really relieved me. A lot. I'm happy with this ending.
Even if I prefer Naho to marry Kakeru, Suwa is my favorite character. I like all the characters, but Suwa's got my attention. The sacrifice he made for his friend, even if he likes Naho, the way he worried about everyone, his actions, these are things I admire in a character.

Anyway, solid 10/10. Orange was really worth-reading for me and I would recommend it to anyone.

I really wanted to give this mango a 6/10 but alas it be 7/10

The way the letters travel through the future into the past is bullshit. Bremuda triangle is a wtf moement. They should have explained more about this time traveling mechanic. Feels like magic.

Was kinda hoping for more development on a possible Hagita/pigtail girl romance. Wanted a little more subplots basically.

Still shipping the true path Naho/Suwa

I feel like they could have learned a more bigger lesson. These are my reasons for not raising the score higher. Good series that goes over a good topic in depression but could have explored it further.

Nice manga. one of my favourites. The first 12 chapters were 11/10 worthy... stuff happened and I ended up giving it a respectable 9. Left a big impact on me, I'm truly grateful to give this manga a try. I can't count the number of times I passed on it on numerous lists. Truly something I would recommend to anyone who enjoys a heartwarming, slice of life, romantic, highschool story of depression, friendship and recovery. :)
