In the first ten minutes alone:

#] Arumi throwing up the head of the goblin she will eat up in revenge.

#] Sasshi getting punched out into space and ending up a baby growing up naked infront of Arumi.

And:

EDIT: I had a screenshot here, but the hoster died or something. Oh well.

Ehm... same producer as TTGL.

Anyway, so much funny stuff in this episode. They pee-part was golden and the 2001: A Space Odyssey references we're funny too.

Almost forgot... he did call her a "small-asshole woman", right? xD

I love how Gainax does those things that just make you scream...

"ZOMG THEY CAN'T DO THAT!!!" or "THEY CAN'T SHOW THAT!!!"

Pissing into the Universe. Wow. Indeed, mindblowing panties.

Best episode by far. Instead of parodying RPG's in general like last episode, they went for specific sci-fi series, resulting in much more hilariousness.

You have the popping out of the ground in a mecha, like Evangelion (as well as the angel fight music directly take from Eva), star wars music knockoffs, the pink bubble sealant from Gundam, the combination sequence from... who knows how many mecha series. Loved them shouting out random attack names, too - LIGHTNING BLAZING DEATH LAZER! or whatever.

This series really does seem like some sort of weird Gurren Lagann prototype, though. Last episode we had Boota, this episode we have Yoko and Gurren, as well as the abandon-mecha sequence to punch the enemy face to face.

Now we are talking, that was a hell of an episode and no, it wasn't thanks to the abandunt, well-tanned & of course underage fanservice... well ok not only thanks to that... I guess I could say the absurd randomness and all those will-be-TTGL-one-day-in-the-future mechs worked well together somehow...

Well obviously it was Abenobashi that provided the inspiration for Gurren Lagann. Gainax often use things from older shows in their newer series. Diebuster is also another anime that is pretty much Gurren Lagann's big sister. There are a load of similarities between the two.

Anyway, the episode discussion... the 2001: A Space Odyssey references were absolutely hilarious. I expected the dawn of man sequence after seeing the mini monolith but I can't believe they even included the star gate sequence. Abenobashi is certainly giving Gintama's parodies and references a run for their money.

This is funny and all, but it's switching through styles way too erratically. If it continues like this I really doubt it will find any kind of consistency whatsoever.

They changed art styles again, not that I'm complaining though. Lots and lots of sci-fi and mecha parodies/references this time around, I LOLed on the 2001: A Space Odyssey sounds and imagery parodies especially. Mini-monolith FTW! I see the earlier design/inspiration for TTGL mechas.

I saw the start and end of the universe.

It's not like Gurren Lagann because it's the same 'producer', it's like Gurren Lagann because of Hiroyuki Imaishi.

It may not be made in America but political correctness is far reaching, so it's refreshing to see when its outright ignored. I just love it when shows don't hold back, political correctness is the bane of comedy.

This was awesome xD Of course Imaishi storyboarded and directed it.
Sasshi making "SF" out of his own body, followed up by *that* legendary music (can't remember its name or composer) was awesome.

Now that I think of it, the thing they got teleported to is a giant Ultraman head, not a chicken x) And it got transformed into someting even bigger at the end of the episode...FACE OPEN! Almost like "target scope open" from Yamato.

Those frames during the first encounter with the demon, I mean, the pantsu-Pokemon-turned-proto-gunman...they were just...something xD The "demon" itself also looked familiar...probably. Can't remember.

References: fixing a hole in the "colony" by gum-like substance ala Gundam; taking-the-pistol-attached-to-a-girl's-thigh ala City Hunter; Pero Pero from Kare Kano (who sometimes managed to be in 2 places at the same time, with Sasshi and with space detectives); frames with Eva Unit-01, A Baoa Qu, etc; an SF pyramid; an Itano circus; that huge Eva-like sequence with a myriad other references, Ideon, Gundam, Herlock, Rei-like "rape" scene, Kanada dragon with the Imperial March remix, more robot references (one looked like Doctor Eggman?), Yamato, Frieza, Macross-like transformation, everything...GATTAI! "Space destroy energy", some TTGL vibes...from the final attack too...and from Mune Mune's costume (Yoko prototype)

Oh, the beginning of the Eva sequence also had a "kimochi warui" coming from Arumi xD She also had funny lewd thoughts about GATTAI haha. It all looked like your typical battle with a kaijuu (the word was even pronounced)...and with robotic comments from Arumi's robopapA xD

Incredible. Just incredible. Probably one of my favorite Imaishi episodes ever.

P.S. Sasshi failed to do a next episode preview in ep.2 again xD

P.P.S. I really do need to watch 2001: A Space Odyssey to catch some references, I guess. And it's so famous.

P.P.P.S. Apparently Anno voiced somebody in this show. I'll be listening closely!

I think they were on crack when they made this ep.

Those Voltes V, Ultraman, Arcadia, Dragon Ball Z, Starwars references. lol The one thing that stood out the most for me is 2001 A Space Odyssey! That monolith, that monkey bashing the bones, and that psychedelic ending of Odyssey, where the protagonist experienced rebirth. Awesome stuff!

Now they ended up in HK. It's gonna be a parody of HK martial arts and cop movies.

This... This was even more bonkers / crazy as hell than i remembered. Never forgot the discount Star Wars music, but the torture porn description of Arumi and what he wants to do with the little demon that didn't make herself return to the original Abenobashi... That was gone. Also, never underestimate the power of harisen as a weapon in 2000's Anime. Arumi, Kaname Chidori (same italian dub voice of Sasshi's sister), Mai Ootsuka...

"do we really have to shout the moves we're doing out loud?"

"cruel", they are attacking when the enemies hangover isn't over yet.

Damn, next episode is already that one? i thought it was number 5, not 4. Oh well, it's going to be amazing.

I just want to see the guys that wrote the anime during their discussions before producing this.

Don't often reply to these, but just wanted to chime in and say this episode is peak fiction.

Then I saw Imaishi directed it and I was like of course he did. Only he would make something this bonkers.
