They wouldn't have had to remake the whole series if the original actually went by the manga. Don't get me wrong the Old series was great but it f'd up some of the story.

Well this was better than I was expecting but I agree with what others are saying about the animation being too bright. My main concern was how Gon was going to sound but I think his new seiyuu has done a great job. Kurapica looks a bit weird with brown eyes though...

The acid test will be how they handle the hunter exam because it wasn't until then that I really got into the original series anyway.

Op and Ed are great. Madhouse is doing great with the animation. It's more colorful, sort of miss the darkness of the old. Didn't like that they left out Gon's encounter with Kite, seemed too important to leave out. Overall, good episode, very nice adaptation.

No, I watched the NA version but still prefer MH version. It become better and better, especially in YN arc.

Exactly. The adaptation will become better and better, and the censorship will decrease dramatically once it reaches Yorkshin/Yorknew, blood and gore will be all over the place, and more gory than Nippon's version. The OST will also get better and way too darker too.

Actually now that I'm re-watching, these first episodes sure do seem rushed, but I don't think they missed anything important.

New to franchise here since I haven't watched the original series yet. Anyways, a friend of mine introduced this to me awhile back but now giving it a chance ^____^

Anyways, first episode seemed

Gon, nice catch buddy. That took some skills.
Dat pinkie swear.

OST seems to be pretty good and I like the theme of the show far. Oh Kurapika has a nice voice imo. And they pass the exam huh?

You will surely enjoy HUnter x Hunter. It takes a bit for the action to pick up BUT the dialogue and actually character development is far better than most long running anime I've see thus far.

Oh, this isn't a spoiler or anything BUT you will get tired of that OST.. Trust me.

If you're enjoying it thus far than just wait till you catch up to the current episode. It will be a joyous ride and at the end you will feel somewhat hollow on the inside because you've caught up with the series and now have to wait every week or so for a new episode. I am completely envious of you. I just finished the latest episode and I am DYING for mooooar!~

Exactly tha same way as I feel,I caught up on Hunter x Hunter when it was on episode 59..I watched 59 episodes in 3 days but I can say that waiting for the next episode is exciting too, since when the episode is realised you just cant wait (Especially when you have never read the manga)

This show actually surprises me alot! Thought Gon will be terrible, but god damn he is quite a smart character for a kid! The characters are great though I don't like the design of the blue cap guy. Looks too horrible and plain ugly.
Now I know why people say this is a great show hope it can keep it up from just like this.
Was liking the Ed theme, but metal totally runis the whole song. Seriously fuck metal.

Do you really think it mattered that they omitted Kite?

I think it wouldn't have changed much or made Gon rage more reasonable but that's me.

I dunno, honestly. I'm on the fence about it.

This is a pretty popular series in Japan, so it isn't too far-fetched to think of it this way.

I think yes.

The problem is that Gon mentions Kite a lot in the manga, to Killua, Satotsu, and others. So it's made clear that he is an important person in Gon's life.

The problem here isn't the omission of the complete flashback in the first episode, is the omission of every mention of Kite, and how Gon didn't even recognize him at first.

Interesting theory actually and very plausible.

@Salce

Maybe. Gon rage doesn't feel convincing enough since I didn't read the manga from the beginning.

:( I'm pretty disappointed by this first episode... I'm beginning to watch this after I completed the original version and thus far I think it was better. But I will see. It's only personal opinion anyways. Of course I'll watch it either way since I really like the first animation. And I hope this one will grow up to its opinions and fame ;)

I was afraid of changes of seiyuu too. And as far as I can get used to Gon's somehow with time I think, Kurapica's voice is getting on my nerves :( And it's because I watched DRRR!! just before this and when I heard him I thought I'm hearing Celty xD or any other mature woman... I wish she could change her voice somehow when voicing Kurapica. ;/ But well, maybe I change my mind later. I hope so.

Yeah compared to the first, (which seems to be one of the best first episodes I've seen), this one is just meh.

I think a female voice fits Kurapika, at least for 2 more years

My official start into this series. Togashi is one of my favorite mangaka's and im a huge fan of the manga and i used to watch the old Hxh series along time ago. I absolutely loved it and can't wait to finally start this remake.

Mad House studio' really put something special together here, the anime exceeds togashi's drawings in every possible way.

Amazing art and animation with the authors brilliant mind, this is going to be one hell of a ride.

I will say in comparison to the manga, this first episode was a bit fast. I'm not exactly a fan of fast pacing, but i hear from fans that it does slow down later on.

The whole goal and surrounding developing of gon is to try and be like his father ging in becoming the worlds greatest hunter and in a way his father is like his idol, someone he really looks up to and admires. Ironically where the anime is now, this whole build up and fundamental aspect to the series is going to actually be resolved soon.

Kurapica and Leiro make there depute and the hunter exams are coming. Let the games Begins!

One episode down. This is my first experience with HxH, so I'm in new territory.

Gon seems interesting enough. The fish incident was a tad over the top, but I suppose it's tame for a shonen. Although he's a tad young, I like Gon's innocence, and he seems quite mature for his age anyway. He seems strong, and I noted his keen sense of smell. Hmm. It sounds like Gon's dad might be famous. That's not surprising, but I'm curious whether discovering his dad's purpose or becoming the best Hunter is a biggest goal for Gon... I'm also not sure whether he's reckless or genre savvy, but I'll be delighted if he's the latter. :3

Funny how Katsuo ended up being the only sailor who could stomach the waves.

I'm not entirely certain of Kurapika's gender. I'm pretty sure he's male, though. Let's hope his revenge stuff doesn't become too angsty.

Leorio... lol. He's in it for the money. .-.;

It was a good episode overall. I'll try to pace myself so I don't reach the current episodes too fast, like I did with a certain other anime... Maybe an episode every day or so? Let's see how things develop.

I don't really get the "gripes" with the first episode. It is after all, just the first of many. While I'm only on episode 25, I assure anyone skeptical (as I once was) that this is truly an amazing series. So much darker than it appears, yet has the lighter elements that most shounen have. I can't speak highly enough about this show, I'm an addict and proud of it.

It's not as good as it could have been for a first episode (because they leave out a rather important scene). But you'll see it later on so no worries.

I actually halted the series after the first episode. Not out of "omg this show sucks" but because it just didn't reel me in and I was watching other anime at the time. If it hadn't been for my brother I probably would have missed out on such a masterful series.

The good news for you is that the current arc is like two episodes away from ending and the one after that should be pretty short, about 10 episodes or so, and that will most likely be the end of this series until enough chapters of the manga are accumulated. So I wouldn't worry too much about catching up and being forced to wait.
