THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- It's about the detective guy having a dream in the past of traveling with film, meeting people, gaining weird power from Inga, Bettennou with another guy he knew from before, and his first investigation case (also related to that traveling group he met) that eventually made him killer. The woman that he met (voiced by Tomatsu-san) seems to be very important, and has inserted song called "Shounenki" (including music video and PV as the tokuten of DVD or BD). There's also police officers from the TV series. So those creatures were "born" from their blood, and that lady "is" Inga. Then he got new name. Edit: Didn't know there's more after credit (not just OP of TV series)... about the daughter of old detective seeing detective guy for the first time through photo. |

(Watched it anyways despite that I didn't like the series) It focused on Shinjuurou's past, Inga's identity, and how those 2 met. It relates to the first scene in episode 1. (If I remember correctly) This also explains some of the settings, like Inga's power. Still a bit confused In the TV series, it talked about the war. I still don't understand how it happened, or what happened This episode mention that Oono Myoushin's self defense force started the first terror. Not sure if that's reference to the the war. Oono Myoushin also use Bettennou's power to bomb the place. The city really got bombed, right? It's not just an illusion? |

I just finished watching it myself but can't recall his original name being spoken if thats the case then the info needs to be updated for his original name no? the movies ties up various loose ends such as the troupe, how he met inga, the cult, how he came to be yuki shinjurou (altho i didnt expect his name to be fake) the only thing that is left to tie up would be how the war started because it makes references in the movie and in the original series in the anime it shows open numerous times so i feel they should elaborate on that. other than that mmmmmmm yuko had a thing for him yeah yeah yuko ftw better then rie. |

As expected the staff behind Un-Go came up with a case for this movie that rivals the ones presented in the tv series in terms of complexity not to mention that it finally cleared the backstory of Shinjuurou, Inga and Bettenou. Shinjuurou seeked for a purpose in life and as he realized that he wouldn't achieve that by becoming an athlete he decided to help people in warzones. However, soon he realizes that his efforts were for naught. At that portentious event after the accident each one of the "protective spirits of Japan" became aware of the hidden truth they didn't want to acknowledge: It has been an attitude of denial and hypocrisy they displayed until then. Yuuko as the last person to get her soul devoured by Inga acknowledges that it's true people constantly lie to themselves yet she claims that it is only one side of many humans have to their hearts, each one of them being true in its own way, and that she wouldn't let anyone to decide which one is her truth. Shinjuurou says the same thing when being confronted with Serada, the true antagonist who controlled Bettenou and returned to Japan, pretending to be Oono Myoshin. He also came to the conclusion how delusional one's wish to help other people is and took it even further by using Bettenou solely in his favour. However, he still forces the self-proclaimed truth unto others, not realizing that Bettenou is merely a god of words. It creates illusions which are regarded as the truth yet reality is not altered de facto. Ironically, Serada fell prey to his own illusions in the end. It is heavily implied that Rinroku Kaishou was the one who assigned Serada to lead the NPO volunteers into the warzone and basically pulling Japan into a war as the video tape with the supposed torturing of the young and courageous people certainly mangaged to heat up the crowd, resuting in more acceptance for a partition in the war. though I think it was mentioned that the casualites of the volunteers wasn't planned. Still, it shows how Kaishou had his own agenda even back then and hides an undoubtly ruthless personality under his good-natured appearance. |

Well the opening makes a lot more sense now. Oh the irony. Rie ends up falling for him later anyway xD Sad past, to have people who trusted you think that you were just using them & then having something control your body & make you eat them. I wonder what his one wish was & what Yuuko's truth was. |

truly a great prequel to an equally great series - was awesome to see the roots of the story...really made me miss the anime and hope they do a second season - loved the ending to this, especially the line, "did you know love is the same as god..." - kind of one of the themes of un-go as a whole: whether god, akuma, or human it's all how we use our power which shows our worth here on earth - the means is often more important than the end - is it worth it to give up one's soul to achieve one's goals? |

Even though it is a prequel, I think it's best to watch it after TV series because you won't understand either way by which one to watch first, but TV series already introduces about most of the characters pretty well and the prequel movie is just the mystery of the main pair (More info.). |

I quite enjoyed the movie; cleared up most of my questions, except for the war plotting or Kaisho's scheme conspiracies. What a dick that guy is. I had hoped Yuko's (Yuuko?)... soul didn't die. I quite liked the Yuko x Shinjuurou pairing. Now all that's left of her is a walking zombie corpse demon-thing whose body is inhabited by a soul or entity (Inga) I assume is genderless, but takes the gender of w/e it knows (like the original female Yuko's body, or the image of a young boy shown in the film-strip Yuko had in her pocket). tsubasalover said: I don't think OP was used, so is it ok to request to remove the OP theme? I don't think so. I watched to the end and the op showed right after the credits, at least in the version I watched, or it may have just been added in. What's wrong with having the the page listing the op anyway? |

Ah....it didn't fully click that female Inga = Yuuko's body/face till I watched this.....Ohhh it makes sense! But you know....after watching this OVA it makes me think....is Shinjirou really older than I thought? I thought he might've been in his 20s in the anime but this makes me think he's in his 30s or 40s... ah weird.... Bummer...kinda wished they revealed his original name... Last thing I wanna say....long-haired/trench-coat Shinjirou is way cooler than what he was like in the anime...hahaha.... |

This was probably better than the show itself 5/5. The transition between the narrative past and present was not always executed well, but that's the only problem I had with this. I was hoping to hear the OP so I was disappointed when it seemed that they left it out. A huge bonus point for including it at the end. |

Damn... This was bad! Maybe it's because of my expectations, but... The pacing was WRONG (even worse than the original show), the explanations were mediocre at best and the way some characters were introduced made it all even more confusing... I loved the music (just like the original) though, so +1 for that. Still, a disappointment. |

Really good job on the prequel. The staff really did a fantastic job on UN-GO, i just love this series so much. Yuuko really is beautiful, sad that she died but we have Inga adult form to compensate that. The story of how Benttenou and Inga came about is well done as well. The mystery was excellent like always. Finally we get to see Rie again <3 ah the irony of what she said. Overall i give it a 10/10 and yes im being extremely biased. And that OP at the end makes me miss this show SOOOOO much, hoping they do a 2nd season of this REALLY HOPING FOR IT. |

god damn i missed this show, You dont get shows that actually require the viewer to have triple digits to understand whats happening much anymore, plus this show just had style, the ep 0 was by far my favorite part of the show and had the best pacing, mystery was really entertaining and shit makes so much sense after watching this |

I feel like I want to give my input despite it being a month after the last post. I really like this Episode 0. I think this is the best Episode 0 than any other ep 0 of an anime that I've seen so far. It cleared up a whole lot, and it urges me continue on again with the anime series to grasp the whole plot once again. Before that, I just really feel like watching this ep 0 again. Lol... |

I wish to see Kaishou's "truth" or "souls" being eaten by Inga. Yes, he seems too suspicious. He reminds me of Aizen from Bleach though. Sneaky. Wonder what Yuuki Shinjirou's real name and why Kaishou gave him that name. Maybe Kaishou has his own "God". Just like in Code Geass, Lelouch's father has his own Geass and became a powerful man. |
