"Rommel's Face"

Another ep I thought I wasn't going to like, but enjoyed anyway. Judau seems to be a more competent pilot ep by ep and the Gundam Team is looking more like a team as well.

If there is one thing I hate though, its that d@mn Mega Rider. Motorcylcle and mecha elements have always been bad combinations in my opinion. ZZ, Victory Gundam and even in Macross. Well, maybe the Tranformers from the junk planet. They were cool!

Another overhelming episode mostly because of the new fighting conditions of the desert. I loved this episode's originality and the way the Gundam Team is getting better and better by each episode.

"Eight years, Desert Rommel trained these forces... only for this kid to crush them."

Usually episodic stories like these last few are filler, which resets the status quo at the end. The main plot isn't advancing here either, but the best character development so far is happening.

Another brilliant episode, it was interesting to see the team fighting OYW veterans. It was a neat touch how the troops called the Argama White Base.

Great episode!

Though it does feel like i'm having some Deja Vu from Gundam 079.

This Rommel guy reminds me Ramba Ral. Even his tactics were similar, but a weaker version of him.

I'm glad Judau didn't hesitated on killing him. Even though he asked him to surrender he tried to kill Judau, and he had no choice but to kill him at the end.

Like the change of new clothes though!

Lol Puru bathing in the middle of the desert!

Great episode! Can't wait for the next episode!

I might have been able to say this in another episode but I like Ple. I'd like for a loli like Ple to be riding around in my cockpit all the time too. ^_^

Oh my, Rommel the desert fox. Well, he didn't have tanks this time.

Intresting how team is getting better and better. Even Beecha and Mondo have stopped their backstabbing at least for a while. I would guess they are going to do something stupid again soo .

Well even though the gundam team hasn't been together for that long they were still more than a match for the old zeon soldiers. Rommel was actually using really good tactics and has shit ton more combat experience most likey, it was just a matter of how outdated those 1 year war original zakus are horribly oudated in terms of mobile suit tech and gundam squad so happens to have cutting edge gundams lol

Its so obvious puru may be a bit annoying sometimes but notice how she hasn't try to kill any of them and she's been nice towards them the whole time even though she has to know they're the enemies of neo zeon. She's going to enevitably encounter neo zeon though if she keeps doing sorties with the gundam team , hope she doesn't go back to the other side bUT 99.9% sure she will by some means or another. I still think it's pretty stupI'd for them to let her do missions with them if they want to avoid her getting retaken or jeopardizing the mission if she gets brainwashed again or influenced by Haman . Hopefully argama crew were at least smart enough to destroy the damn qubely

Mandatory north-african desert episode where the hero is forced to kill a veteran soldier (more similitudes). If they tried to ignite for Rommel the same feeling the public supposedly had toward Ral and Hamon, it is a failure since the only common points are some tactic points: the ZZ soldier clearly used his men like fodder.

The existence of Zeon dormant cells on Earth is a good idea, 0083 used it too. Seems like they are always located in Africa.

4/5 Good episode, not sure of the intended reaction for the Desert Fox.

That name. ^^"

And now the desert episode! Glad to see the good episode streak continues. Judau's been tripping over his feelings a lot lately, trying to spare enemy pilots and all, but that's for the best: at least it's miles better than the incessant "muh Leina" we used to get before the Argama entered Earth's atmosphere.

Puru is still annoying, and I still have trouble understanding the crew's decision to let her take part in crucial missions considering her status as a cybernewtype who's potentially susceptible to brainwashing, but that's a minor gripe at this point.

I think the writers were actually trying to depict Rommel as some kind of a tragic figure: the type of soldier who became so engrossed in the thrill of war that they can't ever go back to a life of peace again. He's spent years prepping his men in the desert, trying to relive the glory days of the One Year War, when we know that the soldiers under his command already moved on (Nicky examplifying that).
Him refusing to turn back when given the chance was a clear sign of his inability to let go of the past, of the war. In that sense, I do believe that he and his trained squad's defeat at the hands of a bunch of kids was meant to be seen as kind of pathetic, pitiful even.

@Sapewloth It makes a lot of sense, I also got this impression of pathetic (it felt like a waste). I guess I was blinded by the "reused" set.
But seeing how after seven years, the men still follow his orders to the death was quite sad (his position and their Zeon loyalty should not mean a lot anymore when they are established here, cut out of the conflicts and politic dynamics).

Wish you to keep enjoying the series.

@mshea1213 Actually, I liked her. A lot. More Ple could only make things better (that's what I thought back then)

Thanks, I wish the same for you

Though it's becoming increasingly hard for me after episode 28, I must admit.

This show has taken a complete 360 and I'm fully enjoying it. I like the desert atmosphere and the battles were awesome. Biggest problem was.. Puru! Just go away.. nobody likes you and nobody cares that you want to play with Judau.

I understand that this is war but the wife & his kid didn’t deserve to be treated like that... and Desert Rommel for a leader & tactician(?) he was a poor one he not only use a soldier he didn’t understood that facing 4 Gundam model was a bit too much (a soldier who retreats lives another day)...

That was quite an interesting battle, but the old Zeon soldiers underestimated the Gundam team.

Pretty good episode! I enjoyed the new area they are exploring. Change of pace in a desert! It was a nice touch of Zeon calling the Argama White Base and wanting revenge for losing the one year war. Zeon used smart tactics but still lost big time. Lieutenant Rommel couldn't believe they trained for 8 years just to be defeated by a kid. Ended on a sad note with all the soldiers wives and kids standing without their husbands there with them and then the woman crying in front of her husbands cross. Classic gundam feeling episode. 4/5

mmm... for me this anime was at its worst moment in episode 11... Between episodes 12 and 20 was getting slightly better, but was at episode 21 when things started to improve seriously. 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25 in my opinion were nice/good. The final minutes of ep 25 were hard to watch... Its cruelty remebered to some similar episodes of the original gundam... Hope it continues improving... I

Rommel corps in Africa - totally not a reference to WWII :D

I appreciated the new desert outfits of the crew and the tactics of Zeon soldiers (hiding in the sand, etc). Also cool to see Doms and other models hovering in the desert.

Press F for Niki.

That commander's death was pretty powerful too. Though I imagined him committing something like a seppuku after such disgrace. Rushing to his death also works though.

I'm confused. Was this Zeon cell that was hiding out in an African village for 8 years a bunch of Zeon sympathizers from Earth? Or were they Zeon soldiers from space that deployed to the Earth and stayed there?

And so the plot has ground to a halt again for what basically amounts to tedious "villain of the week" narratives included solely to promote new Gunpla. We had what, 4 episodes where meaningful things happened before the show decided "nah, screw plot progression"?
