Another season, another pedo, except this one's gone that far with the girl. Which gets me to the question, how old is she really?

Sachiko is a Phoenix Wright fan.

You don't put Sei-sama in an episode and then ignore her! RAWR!

Also way too quick forgiveness on Kanako's part. Your friend gets knocked up by your dad, and you're happy when you see their baby? Goddamn what the hell is going up with the writers on that one?

Touko with her hair down was love though. So cute!

I was surprised. Kanako's hate was because of her dad with her classmate? I felt they rushed this one too much though. The whole explaination to resolution took only about 5 minutes of time. I hope the rest of the season won't be like this. I understand there's a lot of light novel material but I'd rather they pick and choose instead of cram as much as possible into an episode.

QFT. Its always nice to see Sei-sama, but it would have been nice to tie her into an episode, instead of just doing a cameo.

Eh, it did seem a little... odd. But Kanako did call her "sempai" so she has to be older than Kanako (who should be around 16 years old). I guess she could be 18+ years old. (which would still make Kanako's dad a dog, but not a pedo.)

Touko with her hair down was love though. So cute!

Really. What with the her reaction every time Yumi takes her hand, and the way she (not Kanako) is paired with Yumi several times in the ED is sure heavily hinting at who Yumi's petite soure is going to be.

It does seem like Yumi and Sachiko's releationship is really taking a back seat this season, too. Very little together time for them in either episode, so far.

i kinda hate the speed of the show now...it used to be soo peacefull (it would take 2 or 3 eps to cover 1 lightnovel), now its sort of a marathon xDDDD

The series of novels just ended, last one came out last Decembers 26. This season they're going 1 novel per episode, I reeeally hope this season isn't the last one but unless they slow down with the story, this is the last marimite season we'll see. Crap...

I personally though i had this show marked as want to watch over on anime-planet where i first started a list, it wasnt until i saw doremi had released episode one of the 4th season, that i started to watch it. I just finished season 3 of about an hour ago, and have downloaded episode 1 and 2 of this season and am about to watch them. Decided to check in here as what was being said.

Sachiko and Sei are my favourite characters from this show, so when Sei left and sort of became supporting character rather than a main character i was dissappoint to say the least. So the idea of Yumi getting her own sœur has never appealed to me, as to me, it means Yumi would have to spend less time with Sachiko. I like the romance of the idea that they will always be togther, so Yumi having her own sœur, Sachiko finishing her 3rd year, Sachiko's eventual marriage to Suguru(truely hope that never happens, please dont tell me either way) even a week long trip apart are all things i dont want to see.

Ofcourse the idea of any of them being seperated from their sœur is something i dont want to see, but i feel Yumi and Sachiko's while probably the strongest bond, is the one that will most likely end when Sachiko finishes her 3rd year, as they are worlds apart, it would take more effort for them to stay together. Rei and Yoshino are truely family so even when Rei leaves, they will stil be together. Shimako and Noriko whos bond seemed quite weak when compared to the others is likely to last, given Shimako kept in contact with Shizuka, i doubt she would let her bond with Noriko end so easily.

Which is why i dont want anything to break them apart(Yumi and Sachiko) that said both for character and the reason of helping keep Yumi and Sachiko together i think Touko is best suited to become Yumi's petite sœur. As it will allow Yumi to keep in contact with Sachiko as Touko also wants that, to be close to Sachiko herself, and at this point in time, probably wouldnt try and destroy Sachiko and Yumi's relationship.

Kanako reminds me alot of Sachiko, which has its good points, but i think would be more likely to end Sachiko and Yumi's relationship, which is why i see her as a threat. Which adds to my reasons for wanting Touko to be choosen, plus everyone loves a Tsundere.

After season 3's 3rd OVA, when Sachiko overcomes all her fears and run straight to Yumi in the panda suit, knowing by instinct that its Yumi inside, how could anyone want to see them seperated when they share bonds as strong as that.

I havent read any of the novels, but i did enjoy the pace of the previous seasons, so both the idea this could be the last, and that its moving faster obviously wouldnt be something im happy to hear. Will probably add my opinions after i watched the next two episodes.

Edited:
Just watched episode 1 and 2, 2 finsihed on quite the cliffhanger, this will probably prove quite hard on me, since til now i have been able to watch whenever i got the chance, but now i will have to wait 3months to see how it all ends. I hope to see yumi and Sachiko still side by side when it ends, and still think Touko is the best choice.

You explained it in the best way.

Ep 2 was really nice. When Yumi ran with Touko I was sure she going to make her her petite sœur. Sachiko was so cute in the end when she talked to Yumi XD

I saw ep 2 after I discovered that I haven't seen ep 5th of the OVAs yet, so I watched it, and they talked there about a petite sœur to Yumi (and Sachiko BLUSHED!!!!!)

I kind of thought the same. Pretty anticlimactic and felt very rushed on this part.

I would have been much happier if they took like 2-3 episodes to cover the whole school festival since a lot parts just felt cut, especially the cross-dressing play at the end where we didn't even see half of the actors.

Nothing against fast story development but doing it too fast is wrong and Mariamite is in generally one of the sloooower shows, so I'd hope they will manage to keep it a bit more like that.

Pretty much annoyed at this episode for really rushing through Kanako's dilemna. WTF? Her father knocked up a teenager! @_@

That's not alright, even if she was 18 when it happened.

Ridiculous, especially for a 5-minute reveal!

Touko was adorable as Amy, though that was way too brief too. After episode 1, though, there wasn't any doubt in my mind that she would become Yuki's Petite Seour. Episode 2 only reinforced that.

Agree completely, only thing i can say, is that since i want it to be Touko if anyone at all, that maybe im seeing what i want to see. I did say before Kanako reminds me alot of Sachiko, from her hatred of men, to her general appearance and personality, even if i wanted to i cant completely count her out.

Ok its kinda a taboo topic, but if she was legal, and as stated she fell in love him, she did the chasing, i cant see the wrong. Yes their relationship hurt other people, but i dont think its right to put the blame solely on Kanako's father. Things like this can be argued forever, so i dont intend on getting into a debate over it.

I do feel things were a bit rushed, normally i would of expected an episode going into Kanako's hatred for men, and maybe recapping to events at the school festival as way to reach the conclusion. However i expect such an episode would have to have ended with Yumi and Kanako having some sort of close moment, strengthening their bond. So expecting that kind of episode, makes it easier to accept a rushed version of events like this, where Kanako doesnt seem to make much progress in her bid to become Yumi's petite sœur. Since Touko seems to be doing better than Kanako, even though i would of liked to see the episode focus more on her(As Yumi said she is a natural actress), the fact she still came out better off at the end is good enough for me.

it would seem that maybe they didn't want to focus on any other characters [or their problems] too much and resolved everything in one go. gotta remember this is a 13 ep show and our leading lady has even yet to pick her soeur. it may be that they want to focus more on that than any of the side stuff.

The ordinary day bit was fine because of how she went on to explain why, but "please acknowledge someone as your young sister" no matter how i look at it, ts the sort of comment that can be seen as Sachiko pushing Yumi away. Roll on episode 3, i need some closure to this.

Ah, I remember the days when the pacing was so slow, it felt like the anime was moving backwards in time. Now, with the brand spanking new OP, the rapid-fire scenes and the quick fix problem solving, I wonder what will happen to Marimite. Mind, the episode was truly mindlessly entertaining. Slow and steady, as they say. If the plot starts to move like one of those other drama anime that lack depth and charm, then I don't think Maria-sama or I could watch. It'd be too sad for this to happen to one of my favourites.

Great episode. We know why Kanako hated men now. But i'm still surprised... How old is that Yuuko-senpai ? Kanako's father divorced for a teen ? 0_o

And finally Sachiko asked Yumi to search her own petite soeur. I think it's a bit normal. Don't forget Sachiko is supposed to graduate in this season, so she wants Yumi to become more responsible and mature since she'll become the new Rosa Chinensis.

ok, i understood wht u told. but still that.. ô_o'... i dont know exactly, but what sachiko told was a bit rude.
then... I think that, touko don't will be souer of yumi. Weell.... .-.' the third episode explain all about that. Kanako doesn't want become a souer, and yumi agreed kanako's decision. ^^''

It was a good episode as usual, but the whole deal with Kanako felt really rushed and hypocritical.

Yes, the parts with Kanako and her dad were a bit rushed, but I think they just want to move forward to the petite soeur part. Since I assume that Touko will become her, because of the hints in the opening, I guess they had to close Kanako's story a bit to be able to move to the next part.

Although, seeing your dad and your senpai have a baby, don't really seem like anything that would make someone to like their dad more. Not that I've ever been into that situation, but I'd be like "Dad, what did ya do with her? o_O"

Well maybe the baby has some paranormal powers. I mean, she got such a huge head, I bet she can pull off some hypnotizing.

Btw... is it jut me, or Maria-sama really became ugly in this season?

like everyone here, i thought: "Seriously WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPEND?" after the nursery office scene with Kanakos pre20-hiting-dad(hes atleast 35yrs old, maybe even 4x). The whole scene was a farce in my eyes, forgiving his dad and stop hating men because of a baby in about 3mins time... yay sure thing.

i decided to forget about all this junk!

I just realised that this event was as ridiculous as the one between the Sience Teacher and Eriko(Yellow Rose) in the 2nd Season!!!

Touko sure was cute looking with her hair down.
Just like Yoshino in the previous season!

What I've loved most about Maria-sama is the subtle bits of the Yumi and Sachiko's realtionship. So when the overdramatic crying at the end kicked in, I was like "NO!! What happened?!" But it led up to the two distancing themselves from each other, which was really well done.

I'm going to pretend that Kanako bit ever happened. It just feels so wrong >__<

Anyway...Sachiko tells Yumi to find a soeur. Yumi takes it the wrong way. Well it's true Yumi (and Yoshino) needs to acknowledge a soeur soon. I guess that's just Sachiko's way of telling Yumi to be more responsible. Still that was a bit cold of her.

Ugh, didn't like Kanako to begin with. Yeah sure just forgive your father cuz you see his baby. That he fathered with your CLASSMATE. wut

And I don't see the big deal about Sachiko telling Yumi to find a little sister. It's not like she's saying "I don't love you anymore, go find someone else to love" or anything. XD

Of course from Yumi's perspective it's almost like the end of the world :P

So the mystery behind Kanako's hate toward men is resolved. I assume the baby is Yuko's, unless Kanako's father had a baby with someone else off screen.

Sachiko was hilarious when she said "Go on ahead" lol
Guess it's time for Yumi to find a little sister. Toko or Kanako, Toko or Kanako.

Not really liking this season so far, pacing is too fast compared to the previous seasons.

If I understand Japanese schools correctly it goes in 3 year blocks, so Yuko could at most be 2 years older than Kanako who is now 15 so Yuko probably started seeing Kanako's father when she was 15 or so. Which isn't that bad of a reason to be disgusted with men, but if you then forgive both of them after a hug and seeing a baby it makes all the drama your disgust created a bit silly in hindsight.

If the show staff wanted to rush past this Kanako's dad story as quickly as they could, I wouldn't blame them; it's kind of silly soap-opera stuff that's just a bait-and-switch about the immorality of Kanako's dad's actions, with the added problem that it acts like because he was divorced before it happened and she was attracted to him, a school girl getting impregnated by a man old enough to be her father is definitely a happy event with no problems attached other than Kanako being a touchy brat about it.

I don't really understand Kanako's situation.. The main thing I don't understand - is that Kanako liked this girl senpai, it seems.. But how they were familiar?.. It is unknown.. As well as not sure, why Kanako had grudge on her father after all.. Something like she blamed her father in both divorcing her mother, as well as making senpai's life worse?.. Jumping only to explanation doesn't help to feel how the situation was before, honestly.. So ok.. Father divorced with Kanako's mother, right?.. This already is enough for some children to hate their father, really.. As well as it's justified, really, because he leaves the family.. Whatever is the reason.. Then Kanako also somehow came to know senpai.. Who was playing basketball, but then get to know father, and stopped doing that?.. Something like this, is what happened?.. I think explaining like this would make situation more understandable than jumping to conslusions.. But I guess we're also side persons here in this story, who don't know what is happening..

Yoko is pretty, and I love the "dress over the sweater" look, but she is way too young to be with Kanako's father. The fact that she has had a baby with him disturbs me even more. I'll never understand age gap relationships where two people are upwards to 10 or more years apart from each other.

Somehow, Kanako is in better spirits now. Don't ask me how.

A lot happened in this one, we learned why Kanako hates men and she kinda went through an arc of her own when it came to her dad, senpai/step-mom and her new little sister, but I’m glad she can finally move on from that situation, and tho it did happen pretty fast I did still like the moment, what a wild situation tho lol. And of course it’s looking more and more like Yumi and Touko are meant for each other after a few scenes this episode, boy I wonder who her little sister is gonna be lol.

I still don’t fully ship them but I think part of the reason their relationship turned out this way is because of both Yumi and Touko’s growth as characters, you definitely wouldn’t have expected to see any of this in Season 2. And the final scene between Sachiko and Yumi was sweet, but I’m surprised Yumi wasn’t expecting Sachiko to tell her to get a little sister lol, I mean it was bound to happen at some point, I guess on that day of all days it was kinda shocking but it makes sense giving what Sachiko saw between Yumi and Touko.

But that was a great cultural festival, I always love to see those in anime and it was great here, nice to see Sei and Youko again too, sad we couldn’t see Eriko but looks like we will next episode from the preview. Also just realized while reading this thread that the episode title makes sense after that final scene lol.

omfg whats with this show continually normalizing adult 50yo looking ass male and school girl relationships and this time they even had a baby thats insane who writes this shit
every single season but the first one is like super problematic, and always speaks out in favor some weird patriarchal perverted shit and defends abusive behaviors

i swear this shit barely qualifies as girls love

its too late tho, first season got me already too attached to the characters, i just cant drop it

Kanako bit was super weird, others here summarised here nicely.

But god I was so mad Eriko didn't show up, especially with that stupid excuse. I hate how little screen time she has, she was definitely my favorite from the og roses. By the preview, seems like she's finally gonna make an appearance again. Thank god. It'll probably be like a minute of time screen, but still.

Too bad Eriko wasn't in this episode, but good thing that she'll be in the next episode as seen in the preview.

But Sei and Youko are quite a sight.

We've finally understood as to why Kanako hates men, and this is now resolved. It's now apparent why she was so possessive of Yumi in S3: Yumi resembles Kanako's sempai. I find it strange though that I though Kanako's sempai was actually younger than Yumi.

I'm partial to Kanako, but it looks like Touko stole this episode as she is more compelling to be Yumi's petite sœur.
