THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- This is a very artistic anime, which is nice because I like anime like this. It had a very nice watercolour and canvas effect, and also has the most detailed settings you'll ever see. Add in a few hints of CG (i.e water effects) and some nice music, now the art is really alive. But after saying all that, I did TBO find it a bit boring. It's nice to scan through the canvas and search out little details or to watch mini planets float across the screen, but to just scenery for 30mins is a bit to much. It would of been fine if it had been shorter. Overall 7/10 |

sniW said: I was watching the 1080p version, and it was visually stunning. Same here. ThorA release ftw. I kinda liked it. This fantasy world was so beautiful and calming. But it became a bit boring after a few minutes. 30 minutes might be a bit too long for something like that. |

I hate, hate, utterly despise "chill", calm things, so there is never a time I will be in the right mood for something like this. That being said, it is still obviously absurdly stunning, and I could not help but chuckle at the "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" that they carried for like a minute straight about 21:00 in. |
Elsewhere, a somewhat startled Warren Worthington III finds that he has accidentally wandered into an electrified east-side world of post-twist teens and watsui-ing teeny-boppers... |

sniW said: It's really slow paced, but the artwork is amazing. And that's all. If someone wants to see 30 minutes of slide-show with thematically related beautiful pictures, then here you go. But I don't think it's worth your time. 6/10. |

Studio Ghibli makes a screen saver, and it's still better than Gedo Senki. The CG was gross, and 30 minutes is indeed kind of much for looking at art that I could at least have my own choice of music for viewing with. 1080p=the only thing making this worth it. |

This is something you play in the background while you read a book, which is just what I did and it suited that purpose wonderfully. If you're looking for story, this is far off the mark. But for what this anime was trying to achieve, I think it is wonderful. |

Beautiful and well detailed watercolor painting like background. I know the whole point was to depict the setting, but it's not really fitting in a video format when there's no plot, just scenery porn. Also it felt like an overdose of scenery porn at some points, I agree that 30 minutes is too long. |

I really enjoyed this. It was a bit long though, but as I was in the right mood it was perfect. Also I wish to see it every night before I fall asleep. I'm sure to have interesting dreams then :) |
I probably regret this post by now. |

It is really awesome if you have right mood i think. Such a slow meditating sequence of animated pictures. But i found music a little bit aggressive in the end, so 9/10 :) |

I think enjoying this anime simply depends on person and his/her current mood. If somebody had a bad day and is angry or sad, then he/she should watch it. It's difficult to rate Iblard objectively. |

The art is, of course, the forte of this OVA. I can, without exaggeration, say it is simply stunning. Every scene is like an impressionistic painting with the inclusion of "non-intrusive" movement in it (leaves of grass, clouds, water, shadows) that adds to the experience. Truly an eye candy with fascinating attention to detail. The music compliments the visuals nicely, further contributing to setting the right mood and atmosphere - mostly relaxing and soothing, but sometimes even whimsical (in the segments with those zeppelins). Although, the last segment had a musical piece that felt a bit too aggressive at times as someone pointed out already. The OVA does go on for a tad too long as others said, and since it's got no plot, that means it might become somewhat boring. Nevertheless, Iblard Jikan didn't disappoint me as it provides a truly unique, mesmerizing and even surreal visual experience - it is like a window to some fantasy world. Oh and, at some moments the portrayal of the world reminded me a bit of Laputa. Overall, 4/5; 7/10 |

This is Ghibli masturbation, though that's not a bad thing. It's like a combination of soothing ambient music and beautiful animated paintings. Definitely worth a watch if you think that sounds appealing. The only thing I didn't like about it is a lot of the character designs when moving really stood out in contrast to the background. Of course maybe they wanted the effect to be that way, like people moving through paintings, but I didn't like that aspect so much. But no big deal, decent little thing etc. |

Wish that this has a hour because I was almost sleepy on how pretty chill the music sounds. Even though some of the songs isn't my favorites, it sounds very well. The art is so awesome that now I think I need to know who made it so next time I will watch exactly like this including very nice computer screen or HD TV. <3 8/10 Beautiful! |

This should be screensaver or interactive stills with moving hotspots. I felt like I was in museum while watching this. I liked the art so much but still I put story on the first place and there were none and that's why I am rating it so low because this isn't even movie. I also didn't like those cg trams - compared to beautiful background it was just horrible to put them there. But the truth is - this is work of art. As such, some will appreciate it, so will get bored while watching it, and some doesn't even get it. Everthing depends on your actual mood. Chance is, you are the one who this movie was made for. Unfortunatelly I am not. |

Really artistic and calming but maybe it was a bit too long?I was in the mood for something relaxing but even then 30minutes of "nothing ever happens" is too much :D Still really nice to look at and balm for the soul :) The music was also really really good, especially the bits with the accordion(?). |

A series of beautiful paintings, slightly animated, and made alive by the cellulo characters visiting them. The music gets along very well. A big theater screen would certainly make it more justice. 4/5 mangassmangass said: It's been missunderstood, it's full of symbolism (babel tower, the ascension, etc.) Zut, I was too absorbed in the paintings to try to make sense of them. |

This was such immensely beautiful artwork.. wish it didn't end so soon One of the most visually stunning films I have ever seen.. felt a little nostalgic for some reason.. and despite the pacing, had to pause a lot of times as my eyes were slow to devour all the details and beauty.. such a pretty other-worldly vibe.. the world/s created in these images.. I want to live in this anime :'( The music too is excellent. especially in the first half, I died when these pieces played |
