If Mikono and Amata did not say each other's name repeatedly in typical anime fashion, would you hate them nearly as much as you do right now? After following Bleach and, like everyone else, being driven to insanity by "Kurosaki-kun!" I wonder if the writing/directing choice made Orihime, a passive character a la Miknon, more hated than she deserved. The Mikono hate, given the show's detail of her character type and how that has shifted, is unjustified if we look past "Amata-kun!"
And frankly, I don't get the Zessica love. She chooses the most ridiculous ways to express affection to Amata, who is obviously Mikono-sexual. On that note, why not have a shot with Shrade, Cayene, or even Mallory, all of whom are clearly NOT involved in a 12,000 year old relationship?
As for Amata, we know he's a bit dull now because Kagura has his mojo. Seeing Amata struggle past that should elicit more sympathy, not less.
Looking forward to ep. 23.
I don't know about some people, but I'm not overly fond of Mikono's character because she doesn't really do anything. I don't hate her character at all, but I don't love her either- she has definitely gotten a bit better since episode 1, but after episode 22 her character left a bad taste in my mouth. She went on this journey with Fudo and it seemed like she would finally go do something, but doesn't... instead when Kagura and Amata are fighting all she does is sit on top of the tower like a prize and yell at them... why didn't she try to do something? Then she lets herself get kidnapped by Kagura without even putting up one ounce of a fight... she could have kicked, screamed, something! But no- she just does nothing. I'm hoping that she will do something in these remaining episodes- like I said I don't nearly dislike her as much as I did at the beginning of the series and I'm hoping that something amazing will become of her character.
Fair enough, I'm puzzled by the lack of resistance toward Kagura but he may just have too great powers of charm for her to resist for all we know.
What did you mean by Zessica love? Do you mean you don't understand why people love Zessica or do you mean you don't understand why Zessica loves Amata?
The former. Mikono is established as a character with significant room to improve, while Zessica can only go downward and subsequently recover. However, she has only gone downhill, and it's not bad writing in my opinion, it's actually a very realistic decline. I think Zessica is very relateable, but should not be loved.
I personally don't love Zessica's character as much as I did at the beginning, but I still like her character a bit.
I wouldn't say she expresses her love in ridiculous ways- she does it like any normal person would. She confesses, gives him a kiss, tries to start her own 12,000 year legend with Amata... how is any of this ridiculous, I don't understand? Although if I had my way, I would have rather her not have fallen in love with Amata because she becomes so love struck with him that she lost a lot of that Zest that made me like her character so much at the beginning of the series.
Her methods are not as ridiculous as the situations she chooses to initiate them in. You would never guess she was a professional combatant.
Now for Amata... well you're right- he's dull and boring. He's completely Mikono-sexual and it just annoys me to no end. I don't really sympathize with his character because to be honest, I just can't bring myself too.
And I do think that was part of the idea behind Evol's writing. Apollo, being an a-typical well-done take on an anime main hero, set the bar really high and any reincarnation or whatever was automatically going to been completely overshadowed, so the writers took away Amata's charisma and made Kagura to emphasize that shadow and drive the plot.
Amata was deliberately set at a low bar from the beginning, but I have a lot of respect for his "Mikono is sexy because she's Mikono, not because fate says so" speech. He and Cayene are the only characters who actually appreciate her for who she is now. Not even my favorite character, Fudo, does this.
I imagine Mykage wants Zessica to seduce Amata in front of Mikono to push her to Kagura, so Mykage, Kagura, and Mikono can have some perverse gattai meant to convert Altair into New Atlantia or something. My hope is that Amata will deliver a rebuff to Zessica that not only makes Mikono faint from saying "Amata-kun!" for the umpteenth time but snaps Zessica out of her demented outlook.
As for Kagura... I don't hate or dislike his character- he's just there I guess, lol xP
I hope I'm not the only one who finds his hax to be a benefit to the writing. I can't wait to see how that power works against Izumo's.
My favorite character is Sazanka- there needs to be more screen time given to this rotten girl :D - I'm slightly looking forward to the next episode, I'm just hoping it will be a lot better then this episode >>
I hope Sazanka, Cayene, and Yunoha join Spada with their own Gerpald. :) |
