Why is Shinn walking around free?! The POW he gave back to the enemy turns around and blows up Berlin, and he's allowed to carry on as usual? If I was his superior I wouldn't even let him use the microwave in the mess-hall, let alone come anywhere near a mobile-suit again!

For all the people who hope that people in this world made similar speeches, do not forget that the speech did not include archangel, freedom, and some of the orb mobile suits in the combat of stopping Destroy X1,which was highlighted by Athrun, meaning that the speech is propaganda.

I was always wondering what might be the result of this propaganda speech, what might people do in respond to the propaganda that conceived everyone. I was wondering why is Athrun, Kira, Cagalli and others on Archangel so concerned about this speech.

Not only that but then Shinn is being a little bitch about how Kira killed the girl who was killing thousands of innocent people. Before tries to stop Kira from stopping her from killing the innocents. Later when they fight Kira wasn't even trying to hurt Shinn but Shinn is trying to get revenge for a single girl who just killed thousands of innocent people who also took parents and families away from the survivors just like what happened to the little cry baby Shinn.

Wait what? Neo Roanoke's true idntity is Mu La Fraga? Am I the only one who thought that it was Rau Le Creuset all the way through? I didn't even consider any other options, and that he changed sides wasn't surprising - first of all, Rau's goals always was a bit confusing and hard to understand, and then - it's not like "Man in mask changing sides" was something new either - just recall Char Aznable, that once fought for Zeon, later became known as Quattro Vageena from the AEUG, and later became leader of Neo Zeon. Oh and the fact the he died at the end of the series was as much definite as, for example, Mu La Fraga's death, so...

Okay so Mu doesn't have amnesia...seems like someone fabricated memories or something to make him believe that he is someone called "Neo"? That was sad when Murrue started tearing up ;_;

Holy shit, they destroyed 3 cities?!? Guess I wasn't paying attention...

Meer's speech sounded so....fake ._. She should stop trying to be Lacus.

One of my favorite episodes. Durandal exposes the real enemies behind this war (and almost every other war). Of course his speech is not without propaganda.

Durandal has been playing nice so far but what happens when Logos is removed? Will he start to make his move then? Very interesting turn of events. If only the show had more of this and less of pointless battle of day episodes.

When we finally find out Durandal's true agenda (soon I hope, stop dragging it out), it's going to be so good. I have such high hopes. He's very very good at being the voice of reason in this show, more than anyone else. He comes across as thoughtful and peace-minded, and offering the best solutions to the war, but not phony. His speeches are REALLY REALLY convincing.

If he turns full heel like I expect him to, it has such potential to be epic. The hints have been there.

You know Durandal's speech is mostly right. Logos have been the villains from the get go. I would be completely with Durandal if not for the second Lacus and leaving the Archangel out of the Psycho Gundam battle. He is hiding something for sure.

(rewatching)

Logos members revealed and war declared upon them. Cagalli is concerned about what might happen after that (thinking a few steps ahead now).

That's why we all love Destiny. The quality writing is beautiful. He's looking at all the helpless civilians during the broadcast and he'll still care more about Stellar because you know, he met her for one day unlike those random civilians. What a hypocrite.

So guess they remade Quattro's speech now, which makes it funny due to Ikeda Shuuichi voicing Durendal as well haha.

That's not where dead bodies go, Shinn. =A= Actually, just leave already.

Was expecting Mu still being alive, to be honest. Not surprised at all, especially after Desert Tiger's return back in the day.

Stella's "burial" and Durendal speech were the highlights of this episode.

Mu is alive? yay? can't say I'm surprised at all nor that I care too much about his character in Destiny, should have stayed dead.

They tried hard to make me care with that dramatic "burial by water" and Shinn's tears but I couldn't be arsed to give a fuck honestly. Ended up laughing at the sheer hypocrisy of the guy. And my God, I wanted to punch my screen when Rey started questionning Kira's actions while Assrun just stood there saying nothing: it should be pretty damn clear by now that the Archangel and the Freedom's intentions are to interrupt battles and save a maximum amount of lives, but somehow they're the enemy even though they destroyed the fucking Psycho Gundam while Shinn himself literally tried to prevent Kira from putting an end to a massacre. To be honest, I agree that Shinn shouldn't even be allowed to touch a Mobile Suit ever again, given that his actions indirectly caused the destruction of those three cities.

And of course Shinn applauds Durandal's speech while conveniently forgetting who was busy stopping the Destroy while he was whining about his waifu. Shinn is such a predictable, stupid, hypocritical fuck, holy shit.

Kind of confusing so far

Athrun became a lot more submissive compared with the Athrun from SEED and the beginning of Destiny. I do not see why Athrun just allows Shinn to act as he pleases, its as if Athrun is scared of Shinn now. Athrun keeps confronting Shinn, but when he actually gets to talk its as if he forgot why he was trying to talk in the first place.

Another thing that bugs me is how everyone blames Freedom and Archangel for every casualty on the damn battlefield lmao. Remember that one time where the mobile suit from Orb was about to kill everyone on the Minerva but was stopped by Freedom? No one said anything at all about that and continued to treat Freedom as an enemy lol. It should be clear that Freedom and Archangel massively mitigated the damage done by battles but no one acknowledges that. Only one was that captain from Orb.

Before that was how Heine was killed by Stellar, but of course it was the Freedom's fault although it was clearly Stellar and Heine's own fault(his suit's arm got cut off but he still tried to approach the Freedom for who knows why)

Shinn is kind of a retard too who doesn't accept the facts. It was Stellar that killed Heine, it was Stellar that killed 10s of thousands of civs and burnt cities to the ground. Well at least this part is kind of realistic, love blinds people. I'm sure Shinn is just in denial and is finding someone to blame.

However, how Shinn reacted to the propaganda speech this episode was kind of weird. He sees Stellar killing people and finally being destroyed but seems so pleased with the speech. Almost as if he completely forgot who was inside the Destroy.

At least the politics is interesting. Curious as to how Durandal seems to know everything. From Logos to Kira and Lacus.

Stella sinking into the icy water was visually nice... but really, um... I feel bad for whatever kid is going to be fishing up that bloated body. Probably should have just flown to the local graveyard, used the Impulse's pinky finger to scoop out some of the earth, bury Stella in that, and then stake a cross on the mound.

Athrun doesn't have the authority, and frankly it's not his responsibility to discipline Shinn. He's not an official member of the Minerva's crew and he is not officially Shinn's wing commander. Athrun is a FAITH member who is being allowed to stay on board Captain Gladys' ship (who is also a FAITH member and can thus eject him at will). Athrun is the veteran mobile suit pilot onboard and tries to give advice to the others, but he has no actual authority over Shinn. Athrun can complain to Captain Gladys but it's up to her whether or not something actually happens, and we've already seen Captain Gladys tell Athrun that she doesn't want him trying to run her ship, so sadly there just isn't much Athrun can do.

The real problem is with Captain Gladys. She has dismissed reports about Shinn's behavior and won't do anything to address it. Disciplining mobile suit pilots isn't supposed to be her job either. Captains aren't supposed to micromanage everything; that's why they delegate to their officers, but for some reason she has not appointed anyone to oversee the mobile suit wing and discipline the people there. It's puzzling that Rey didn't start the season as the Minerva's wing commander, as the other two pilots assigned to the Minerva were most certainly not leadership material (and, in retrospect, neither in Rey, though at first glance he definitely comes off as more calm and collected and competent compared to the other two).

^burials at sea isn't uncommon for naval forces at war, and they are essentially naval at heart, so i don't think it was disrespectful. quite the opposite.
durandal's speech being propaganda, yes, but that doesn't mean it was bad or wrong. propaganda is used either to deceive or to illustrate. depends on how you look at it. the question is what was his intent and that has yet to be seen but i think propaganda has a bad connotation. it's effective precisely because people, especially in groups, have a hard time thinking logically and independently without some kind of emotional appeal. whether that is to stir up hatred or to calm people down, to wage war or to stop it, or any other reason in between depends on the intents of the speaker.

Durandal's speech was good, but i don't understand why he left out details about the Archangel and orb helping to stop the Destroy, this Is clearly Propaganda.
Shinn is challenging my patience more in every episode, everything that he says it's infuriating.
