I think Inori definitely improved as a skater with her movements, speed, and timing. Very impressive imo. She deserved that round of applause. Wish the episode didn't have her fall after the performance but as always, Tsukasa is there to help her.

Another girl Ema also put up a fantastic performance so she's someone to keep an eye on. She looked so happy after performing too.

After seeing all those skaters last episode I did get a bit worried about if Inori would be to beat them, but I shouldn't have ever doubted the goat, she didn't just beat them, SHE FUCKING KILLED IT OUT THEREEEEE. But yeah, even during the performance, there clearly something going on with her leg due to this performance being way harder than anything else she's done and faced up until now. So yeah, she sprained her leg, and Tsukasa being the goat he is tells her to take break so that sprain doesn't turn into a fracture.

Back to the rink though, and once again, just like last time, the performance after Inori's is on a whole nother level than what we had seen prior. Hikaru's last time was once thing, but Ema's this time around was just breathtakingly amazing. Honestly, a deserved number one tbh. I thought that would be the highlight of the episode for me, but that conversation Tsukasa and Inori had on the train was so sweet and wholesome that it's definitely the highlight for me.

And yeah, while Inori and Ema were going crazy in their own tournament, Hikaru is going crazy herself as well, with that Triple Axel.

It’s really remarkable how far 3DCGI has come in recent years. Inori’s performance looked incredible and while she may not have came out on top in the competition, she showed everyone how talented she is and that she’s a force to be reckoned with. So proud of her!

I think it’s really sweet that even though Tsukasa used to think of himself as a failure, Inori looks up to him and wants to be just like him. Only thing on her mind during her performance was living up to the hope and belief her mentor has in her. People don’t know the importance of just having someone that believes in you is.

I’m not even mad about Ema beating Inori and taking home first place honestly. After seeing how she was developing an eating disorder to prevent her growth spurt my heart broke. She deserved the win, that performance was amazing. It’s so cool to me how all the skaters have unique styles that reflect their personalities and quirks!

Winning silver at your debut competition is nothing to scoff at. Keep in mind Inori just started skating a few months ago and was going up against people who’ve been doing this their whole lives. She’ll be fine the sky is the ceiling for her, especially with Tsukasa by her side. The biggest challenge is gonna be monitoring her health with the shin splints. I get wanting to train as much as possible, but you’re not gonna make up lost years. You won’t overtake Ema and Hikaru overnight. Take it as it comes and enjoy the journey! Another great ep!

Both of them give good performance worthy of the first and the second place.

This anime might show a deepest exploration of relationship between coach and players. Considering that players spend time with coach as much as their family or even more, it wouldn't be surprise to see many athletes saying that their coach is their secondary parent.

While it sucks that Inori couldn't make it to the actual award ceremony, her officially becoming a medalist by Tsukasa's hands is arguably so much sweeter. Love that the rink receptionist personally met and showed concern for her too.

And lol Rioh really had to end an otherwise uplifting episode on such an unsavory note.

That scene with Inori on the train, lifting one leg while the sunlight shines through the window, was insanely cool! Even though I know it’s because of her injury, it still looked amazing.

Another excellent episode, well inside the series' standard!

It is impossible not to fall in love with cute, determined and sweet Inori. She is a fantastic girl and I perfectly understand Tsukasa.

Inori did great and she was so close to winning, but I respect who lost to, that was a good story too, plus their friends.

Well, the characters in the competition that Inori is meeting is expanding and she is taking in everything to learn and improve.

This anime has been so much fun.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

PSA: there's an after-credits scene.

Ema's case reminds me of the uncomfortable truth that these young athletes are constantly racing against time and expected to produce results. Saying "I was so close to winning that" or "I'm so close to a breakthrough, this time for real" means nothing if you literally have nothing to show for it after years of effort and money spent.

It's heartwarming to see Ema and her coach push on through that and finally put on a performance they're proud of. But I wonder about the alternate universe where Ema didn't win gold here. It hurts to imagine her continuing to struggle in the club or just walking away from skating.

Thanks for the heads up, @perseii. I might've missed it otherwise.

I was hoping Inori would take home the gold, but Ema's win hit me surprisingly hard. Awesome vibes from this show, as always.

I loved how this episode made Inori's growth visible and seeing her sprain her ankle was harsh and I felt it bruh. I had so many painful memories with spraining my feet and ankles and the pain she felt flowed back into my mind. Whoever mad that scene was a genius and deserves a raise. The post credit scene has me wondering what kind of episode it will be with Inori taking a break and us seeing Hikuru skating and seeing a yellow haired boy clearly upset, makes me wonder if he was rejected and Hikuru took his place. I honestly think that would make for a great episode and I'm kinda hoping that's the case, but never the less, we all know that just like with every episode it will be peak!!

Inori did great! She got silver this time but she's going to get Gold next time!

Ema was amazing she definitely deserved 1st place this time.

We also see Hikaru again at the end there. She got 1st place of course beating that other girl Suzu. Rioh also is pissed at the end for some reason.

INORINNNNN AND EMAAA CONGRATULATIONSSSSS. inorin said that even though her leg was injured, it was not a reason for Inori to stop hoping to become a Medalist. and man... the OSTs make me cry every single time, it was the best OST in this season, Yuki Hayashi truly is a magician.

I'm really proud of Inori. She performed to the best of her abilities out on the ice rink, even imitating some moves that Tsukasa did in the past and nailed her moves. Sadly, she did end up getting injured afterwards with shin splints, which does sound painful from the way Tsukasa described it to her.

Overall, Ema was the victor of the competition with an excellent performance. Seeing a bit of backstory of the struggles she and her coach went through on her way here, especially how she disliked her growth spurt only wanted me to root for her move during her performance. That smile she did after winning was very precious.

That meant Inori won a silver medal for her 2nd place, which is still a great result for her considering that she hasn't been doing figure skating for long at all. Her talk with Tsukasa on the bullet train back does feel me with excitement with what she can be capable of in the future and I'm sure she'll get to those higher levels at a pace that suits her, so there is no need to rush at all. As with Ema earlier, Inori's smile towards Tsukasa during their talk was adorable. ^_^

This episode has put me one step closer to making this series by anime of the season.

First episode I didn't really love.

I know that kids will always be more mature than they realistically could be in order to allow the plot to progress though conversation with the adults. But I feel like Inori's speech about not using wasted time as an excuse to not live her life is WAY beyond what an 11 year-old cxan be expected to say. Suspension of disbelief broken.

Still gonna buy the manga tho...

There was quite a lot cuts and changes to make both Inori and Ema's performances fit into 1 episode.

The anime is a solid 8 but the Manga is easily a 9. Seriously, read the manga.

Episode 5/5

It was so beautiful to see Inori recognize her weakness but also know that she can achieve what she wants by trying hard, she also talked about others, She also recognized that other children also try hard and she is not the only one, it was all a great learning experience for her. We still had Ema trying hard and giving life to an incredible performance, what an enlightened and hard-working girl, the soundtrack was also great. I loved this episode.

You see the bar was so high that we had to wait until the last performance to check who'll come first. I'm happy for the girl who came first because she had her own issues to deal with too, like Inori.

Coming in second at such a level is pretty much equivalent to winning itself. So yeah, Inori has officially joined the ranks now. Great episode!

While Inori's performance was great Ema's performance was even better but nonetheless hopefully they meet in the nationals. Regarding Inori's sprained ankle, I think her tripping may have been from the crater that was left from a previous competitor which is unfortunate but at least she didn't hit it during her performance.
