Tbh, a lot of things doesn't follow the laws of natural order. However, this doll really pushed that envelope and themes of supernatural.

Kotoko's tactical mind plays a role again although it looks like this case also got more complex with the psychology of that doll and its mechanics. What an episode though. Imo, these cases are getting better this season. The variety and psychology...well done.

Kotoko and Kuro conversing with Tae on Zenta's Electricshock Pinocchio, which has been made out of wood containing a meteorite, and it produced a miracle from within. The cosmic supernatural phenomenon that caused Zenta to worship the wood struck by meteorite and to make a doll out of it, this is already out of the natural world's order, and Tae simply wouldn't have realized of what Zenta was trying to create: Pinocchio, with a heavy cinch of electricity. That's where Kuro steps in, and eradicating it is as easy, but thanks to Tae's senile age, she forgot the most basic of counters.

Taking Electricshock Pinocchio into account by facing it in the dead of night, other than relationship bickerings, the doll takes its usual daily course. Being mindful not to overkill the doll, which is linked to Zenta's grudge over the town and the 4 college students for the hit-and-run of his grandson, this is deliberate on Zenta's part as his resentment on those who opposed him that'll befall the tragedy of the town, even to the point of using the supernatural to make sure that the job is done somehow. Once in position, then they're able to assess the doll better, withholding its right electric arm to reveal not just the 4 students, but Tae herself also. With the curse not affecting those carved in it, Tae remains safe, as well as the 4 students, for its effectiveness on only emitting electricity.

Tae having her own closing story, of a couple that used to live the lavish life until life broke down with deaths, and Zenta with his unjustified resentment on her to carve her name onto the doll, this troublesome entity is now, case closed.

A job well done for Kotoko and Kuro, as expected.

Very sad resolution to this case. The doll wasn't even powerful enough to activate the curse that Zenta put on it. Still shooting electricity from its hand and killing a bunch of fish did hurt the town. Just not the specific people Zenta wanted dead to avenge his grandson. Tae even having more to do with it than previously suspected. Kotoko always comes to very reasonable conclusions tut satisfy the people involved, even if she has a funny way of getting there sometimes. Pointing out some obvious ways the doll could he defeated that Tae didn't think about. But we learn later that maybe Tae just wanted to sacrifice herself defeating the doll. Feeling guilty for benefiting from all her family's deaths. Zenta even despising her for that while his family suffered for their loses. He wanted revenge on not only the college students whom got off free after killing his grandson but also against the town for not sticking up for his family and letting all these reckless tourists in. That doll was his last attempt at bringing what he felt as justice. I'm glad that Kotoko and Kuro could help Tae and the town, using their wits and powers to dismantle the doll, remove the curse so that no one gets hurt.

Aliens and meteorites is not something you’d really expect in Kyokou suiri but here we are lmao.

This was one of the weaker cases in the whole series imo. Tae was the highlight. Stopping the doll felt anticlimactic. I miss Yukki onna man

Well that takes care of this case. Looking forward to seeing what's next for Kuro and Kotoko.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

MAL is literally just anime Twitter as its own website lol.

A nice resolution to the case, although a bit bittersweet to be sure.

Although I liked the first season quite a bit, I am enjoying this season quite a bit more. It is still exposition heavy but seems like it is better paced. Also, the more episodic nature of this season seems to work well (whereas the first season focused on once arc for essentially episodes 3-12), even though Kotoko and Kuro do not even show up (or barely make an appearance) in some episodes. It is just a lot of fun.

(And Kotoko still being lewd as hell makes me laugh every time.)

Gotta love how she constantly drops TMI about her relationship with anyone they deal with, by this point I'm almost suspicious that she's doing it deliberately so word will spread on the sly to reach crazy cousin-chan and infuriate her lol

He's such a long-suffering boyfriend but doesn't seem to be complaining TOO much.

The storytelling from Tae was very interesting to listen to, we got an backstory as to what happened.

The doll was cursed probably and trying to attack those who killed Zenta's grandson, the 4 culprits including Tae because he was jealous of her probably.

As expected Kotoko and Kuro would solve this case, it seemed like an easy case as well, although Kuro took a lot of beating to himself, but he's immortal so yeah lmao. Anyhow another case solved and the doll is still drifting in the ocean by now, thus marks the end of Zenta's curse.

Looking forward to as to what's next on Kotoko's and Kuro's agenda.

Ah yes, Kotoko's weekly sex jokes never get old, an episode just wouldn't be the same without them.

Case solved, was easier than expected. Was an alright case this time. More importantly, Kotoko's not a maiden? Kuro gave in eh.

I thought this case is more complicated and longer, also surprised at the ending, and it looks like there are 1~2 more cases in this season.

Kotoko and her desire to mention sex jokes never gets old. The way Kuro put his hand on her mouth to keep her quiet this time made me laugh. Looks like he really did give in to her temptations at long last, huh? =P

That aside, the way that they stopped the cursed doll was pretty simple, although it still could've gone easily wrong if the timing was even a little bit off. Still, hearing more of Tae's backstory of how she lost her own kids to a traffic accident and then losing her own husband was rather sad. Still, she's one of the most enjoyable story characters so far in this series and made this arc better for it.

With the episodes left, I'm guessing we'll get two more cases? Either way, I do look forward to seeing what those cases are and what part Kotoko and Kuro will play to help out, if needed.

Another interesting case that comes to its conclusion. Seriously, Season 1 was already good but this sequel sure has been quite the improvement in both pacing and storytelling.

AH yes there was that voodoo effect to the puppet, it makes sense, but they stopped it easily, kinda sad how he got jealous on Tae without trying to understand how she's reacting to her losses no matter how much money she would receive.

such a satisfying reasonable solid episode!
for a 20 yr old youkai hybrid girl...Kotoko has immense amount of wisdom, intelligence and knowledge! and Kurou is just basically a reliable TANK! lolz
5/5.

Kokoto just said that's a possibility. Though in my understanding the story is mostly the old man's tragedy on many levels. In a typical Asian Confucian culture, his dilemma and mediocracy are very understandable. He did a half-hearted job making the voodoo doll because he just did not have it in himself to really curse others. That's the price for being a nice pacifist to the end. Still, the doll caused some damage and killed poor Kuro many times.

Didn't expect that meteorite thing though but guess that's just how weird that vengeful Pinocchio was. Anyways another case done for Kotoko and she may have for the first time didn't make up any lies in all of her reasonings, I assume.

Hoping to see another interesting case coming up.

Okay but how did Mr. Zenta of all people know how to do that? Either way, I'm glad Kuro and Kotoko finally did it.

The conversations between Kuro and Kotoko are as funny as ever. WTH? She said she is no longer a maiden. Why is it so subtle?

Oh yeah real simple one, just have your boyfriend get electocuted and burned to death multiple times to stop a rampaging wood doll with a grudge.

Real simple, and yeah Kotoko you do come off across as too cold sometimes.

"Maiden no longer", huh? That's definitely more relationship progress from them than I was expecting.
