Mm, I think Marcia is actually starting to get along well with Eiichirou. Pacing felt a little slow with the practice and such. I think it's a good way to warm him up for the bigger matches to come this season though; assuming that they adapt it.

What a cutie

This was a pretty good episode. Felt a bit slow though. Not as exciting as the previous 2 eps were.
Ah well, will be fun to see what happens in Maruo's and Alex's game :3

Ah, yeah the animation really is lacking sometimes. I'm excited about this match though. I kind of hope Maruo doesn't win… I really really like Soji a bunch XD I wonder if the match with Alex will be decided next week? Probably.

Ohh damn I didn't expect a re-match with Alex. And this time we're getting more details too, which is awesome. Maruo is probably going to get rekt though next episode, hopefully it won't be one sided like the match vs. Ike this episode.

I loled at Ike's "she's my fiance" joke, Maruo's reaction was priceless xD

This arc is quickly approaching its end, I hope it won't be the last time we see Alex and the others because they're awesome. Although on the bright side once Maruo is back in Japan we might see some exciting matches with his old opponents; I so want to see a re-match between Maruo and Nabae.

Spotted one error - "Game: Maruo, 5-2" Few seconds later the scene changed and the scoreboard behind wrote "Maruo - 6" when he have not won the set yet.

I love the manga and the first anime season was a little dissapointing. It followed the manga but it had poor quality. I don't know why, but even when it is probably the same quality this 2nd season is attracting me more than the first. Is the animation more smooth than the first season?

This episode was ok. I would like that they remark more the training of Maruo than the matches but you can't have it all.

Need Nat-chan screentime or riot.
Anyway, the quality is back to be pretty bad as the first season .. Hopefully they won't keep this up till the end.

I read "data" as "date" for some reason.

Alex vs Ei-chan was nice. Using his full analytical skills to make even a pro cautious. It was also nice to see how Alex wasn't so focused on winning from the first set and was openly making mistakes to test the waters.

Awesome ep! The amount of improvement Maruo's had is insane :3 Still no match for Ike XD

Loved his reaction to hearing Nacchan is Ike's fiance. He's so in love :P So serious!

Alex vs Maruo was great so far. Both players monologues were really nice to hear ^^

Why is this so exciting to watch XD Ei-chan dominated Alex in the first set with his notebook strategy, which Alex realized that it wasn't just about analyzing past data, but also about utilizing that past data to predict for future changes! It's really amazing the way Ei-chan plays, but this only works when things are still predictable. Even Ei-chan knows that. Which means the toughest part is coming up, and it doesn't look like it'll be in Ei-chan's favor. However, it's fun to just see how much Ei-chan, and other challenging opponents in general, can positively influence a player. Ei-chan's is basically forcing Alex to change his style of play and allowing Alex to start mastering that new style all in one match! Amazing. I hope after this, Alex will remember the fun of tennis instead of worrying just about winning and helping out the family as a pro, which is of course respectable, but I think it's always important to have fun. That feeling of wanting to improve for yourself works more effectively I think, in this case.

5 more years and she'll be sexier than Natsu. Tough choice there... maybe one day Eichiro will face Alex in a pro tennis competition and....

Mah man Maruo executing dem clutch plays!

Great showing by him in the first set; he broke Alex twice for a 6-2 set. Now this is where the match gets really interesting. I figure Alex will probably prevail in a grueling second set (probably a TB) and Maruo probably runs out of steam for the third. Haha, well whatever happens, it's gonna be goood! ^^

The fact that everyone is speaking perfect Japanese is becoming a problem in my eyes. It's odd and breaks immersion. A small detail like that would both develop Maruo by having him experience something alike it, as well as make this America arc more memorable.

The idea that the only way Maruo could understand the pro life is to join it is interesting. For the first time ever he's seen tennis as something that isn't 'fun' but something that would bring all kinds of other experiences and feelings with it. A detail and line I adored was:

"Where did all my hard work go? No, that's not it. I can understand the intensity because of my hard work."

It's such a beautifully real line and something so many people can miss out on. The reason you realize how outmatched you are is because of how much time you've put in. It's not that the hard work was meaningless, it's that it's allowing you to see the difference in ones skill in a way you never have. In fact it's proof of your improvement. Maruo realized this and realized because of his hard work he sees Ike in a way that he never has before, he appreciates his play more than ever because of this.

This Maruo vs Alex match is reminiscent of the Nabae match. Early in the series we often had Maruo figuring his opponents out alone, or a brief recalculation on his opponents side to take the win. It was always Maruo figuring out his opponent, but alike this and the Nabae match they're now twofold. This time Maruo came in with a plan and a plan against Alex's future retaliation. That's some yomi right there. It was cool when he watched for the pivot forehand and immediately countered it. Excited to see how this goes, next episode seems like it'll teach Maruo a lesson in figuring out his opponent without proper data.

Nice rematch against Alex. I am wondering if Ei-chan will beat him with his notebook strategy. It is good to see how Ei-chan is able to predict his opponents moves and the effect it has on Alex' performance. Also, the voice actor Hiroshi Kamiya as Alex brings back sweet memories! :3

Yes, it's slow, it's really enjoyable whatsoever. It's depth is what I love the most about it, I don't think that there's another sports anime that goes that deep into their focused sport.

Another overall great episode. Loved Maruo's monologues as usual whenever he goes into a match, and it was nice seeing him and Alex try to counter each other when Alex figured out that Maruo's study of his game really gave him a big advantage through those notes, and even planned ahead incase Alex would deviate to throw him off. Maruo's grown a lot over the two weeks he has been there, actually putting up a big fight against Alex and even winning a set against him this time unlike before.

Although he's still not good enough to be a proper pro just yet after getting his ass kicked by Ike. Still so much to go in terms of his development of skills and strategies as a whole.

I will say, there is one thing I've not been a fan of with this season so far, and it's with some sloppy errors from the storyboards. In this episode, when Maruo was leading 5-2 against Alex and they went to the benches to rest a bit, the scorecard showed 6-2 instead, so the result was incorrect and also a bit spoiled there.

This wasn't the first time something incorrect was shown, as in an episode previously where Krishna, Atsushi found out about Maruo and his notebooks, Maruo already pulled out the 38th book to give to them just to check them out, but when they saw the bag full of notebooks and pulled one of them out, it was the 38th again. It's not the kind of errors that would ruin the anime completely, but it's just a bit sloppy from the staff.

Nevertheless, the quality of the show is still great. Hope I don't see more of those silly mistakes though in future episodes.
