A Super Robot piloted by a hot-blooded male who screams his attacks. Over-the-top action paired with serious drama. Victories, tragedies, love, betrayal, personal struggles, a fight to save humanity. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll cheer. Highly recommended.

G Gundam is pretty much non-stop action. It doesn't quite have the comedy of DBZ, but if you're looking for a series that's all about the fights, this is a good one to watch.

Super robots, hotblooded pilots, attack name yelling, all the things that make you want to yell those attack names along with them.
report Recommended by Miyarin
Both shows have the same director and have awesome narrators, with memorable lines, such as, "GUNDAM FIGHT! READY, GO!" and "SONOTORI! KARE NO NAMAE WA BUREIDO!".
report Recommended by llxwarbirdxll
Both share a director, and both have a flair for crazy dramatic kung-fu battles with wuxia influences. (G Gundam makes up for the lack of magical Chinese ninjas with Magical GERMAN Ninjas) And see if you can hear a familiar voice in the Japanese language tracks!
report Recommended by Scallion
Both these series are somewhat of a comedy for the mecha genre. The way the mecha are controlled is also very similar.
report Recommended by shadowsword
Both have a tournament style of mech-fighting, with a cocky pilot as the main character who yells the names of his attacks The mech they each use both have a special attack where the hands of their robot start to glow as well as other parts of their body

Both these Gundam series are about hot-blooded tournament fighting, pretty much. I couldn't tell you how many times I expected Sei and Reiji to execute a Shining Finger instead of a Build Knuckle, haha. If you enjoyed the duelling and the special moves in Build Fighters, then look forward to even more kungfu-esque action in G Gundam. Both anime take a few episodes to get off the ground, but when they do, they're pretty darned good. Remember to watch these subbed though - the English dub of G Gundam completely fails to capture the spirit of the original and is rather cringe-worthy.

These are two of my favorite animes! And even though Scryed istant in a competion like G Gundam the fighting style is very simliar. In most battles in Scryed they are one on one (with a wide variety of oppents like G Gundam). Also, both Kazuma (Scryed main protagonist) and Domon (G Gundam main protagonist) use one hand as their strongest/prime weapon in battle. This will eventually evolve into there whole being being used as their weapon. It's not so much their power that makes them srong but the combo of their natural ability with spirit. Rebels to the system both have their reasons for hating "the  read more

Over the top, hot blooded manliness at it's best. If you watch shows for men who test their souls in battle, then this is for you.

Both anime were made around the same period, and have similar art and animation. They both have a lot of action and adrenaline, focusing on characters who fight in tournaments. The only difference is that Gundam has mecha, while Tekken doesn't.
report Recommended by BohemianRhapsody
Over the top fights, skin tight outfits (more guys than gals this time), and a narm charm factor that is off the charts? What's not to love? Seriously though, the overall feel and tones of both these series are very similar. In the beginning of both you have a fighter looking for a person/answers to their family's woes, be it their father's murderer, or in the case of G Gundam a brother who has become an enemy of the state. The protagonists of both series however come to find out that all is not as it seems and there are bigger  read more

Crazy fights, action, superpowers, swords, and awesome music. You can find that both of them are DBZ like.

If you like mecha, and you're a fan of fast paced action, you just might like both of these. With an emotional story and a student-teacher relationship, these are similar enough.
report Recommended by OrchidMantis
If you want an anime about fighting with machinese that's both hype but also doesn't shy away from coming up with ridiculous ideas pushing the rule of cool to the limits, then you might enjoy these anime.
report Recommended by abystoma2
The plot of both series revolves around a martial arts tournament, complete with drama. Ippo happens to be about "normal" boxing, but G Gundam has laser swords, giant robots, vulcan guns, and a "save the world" climax.
report Recommended by 1231415333
Both are manly anime filled with non-stop action and adrenaline, featuring violent characters and martial arts masters. While they give off a similar vibe, the main difference between them is that G Gundam has mecha in it, while Hokuto no Ken doesn't.
report Recommended by BohemianRhapsody
Saint Seiya inspired Sunrise to make this masterpiece. Both animes filled with manly spirit and badass characters. If you like shonen anime, but don't like mecha, this anime could change your mind, like it did with me.
report Recommended by Venom312
Both revolve around a group of 5 characters who all have marks on their hands/arms showing they are chosen ones, both involve tournaments with competators from various parts of the world, both have the main character trying to deal with an event that happened with one of their family members.
report Recommended by SkullKidAu
Both main character's are working to atone for the sins of their families(Joseph for his sister and Domon his father) so they strap on mechanized armor (or become it) and fight to save their world. Another series where the faith of all other characters rest on the protagonists shoulders.
report Recommended by HunterRose
Gritty, hot-blooded super robot action. Lots of yelling and shouting attack names with a rock-style soundtrack. The main character is introduced as a travelling “lone wolf” who ends up teaming up to battle against a planet-sized mutant robot monster to save the Earth.
report Recommended by Eziprez
While a general homage to Gundam, Build Fighters Try is particularly similar to G Gundam. Aside from the both focusing on a tournament of mecha battles, the main character is a martial artist who was trained in the Guiana Highlands and use said knowledge in their robots. Domon himself even cameos in Try.
report Recommended by Ionliosite2
Both have the mc and friends fighting against powerful monstrous foes while trying not to die in the process.
report Recommended by pinkfoxboi
Gundam series that are easy to get into without having previous knowledge about the gundam timeline since there arent any references to past wars. Both series start off with their gundam pilots already owning gundams and having fighting experience which is uncommon in most gundam series. There is also a range of cultural diversity among the main characters in both series.
report Recommended by Gbex
Both series revolve around mecha tournaments, but unlike Zearth from Bokurano, Shining and Burning Gundam do not kill their pilots. And while Bokurano will only make you depressed, G Gundam knows you watch it for entertainment.
report Recommended by Mega-PoNEO
Both unconventional gundam series. Instead of talking about great wars between nations or terrorist insurrections they focus on single duels and unique mobile suits
report Recommended by Coolzweg2
Both are mecha anime featuring hot-blooded and violent main characters. While they lack something in terms of plot, they make up for it in intense action and epic fights, creating a similar atmosphere of adrenaline and testosterone.
report Recommended by BohemianRhapsody
Both series have non-stop action and adrenaline. The character designs are also similar, with Domon looking a lot like Bardock. While they both have a similar atmosphere and vibe, the main different is the presence of mecha in G Gundam.
report Recommended by BohemianRhapsody
Both are fighting series that involve feud, brotherhood rivalry, mentorship, drama, comedy, twists, and revelations. They do have a dark tone as well. Both are DragonBall inspired since they use powers, weaponry, and fighting style.
report Recommended by Rikudo14
One have gundams and a tournament The other have delinquents and high schools Both use there fists to communicate and have connected with there opponents
report Recommended by Midori_Sky
Both are mecha anime featuring hot-blooded main characters and over the top action. They do not focus a lot of the plot, but choose to focus mostly on fights instead. Overall, they have a very similar vibe.
report Recommended by BohemianRhapsody
Other than Gundam Wing and G Gundam which are popular, try out 08th MS Team and to an extent, 0083 Stardust Memory. 08th MS Team too like G Gundam is unique in terms of style and 08th MS Team is ground based whereas G was fighting. Drama, romance, interactions, tone, story twists, and action are both great. More than one Gundam is involved which is a squadron fighting to end the war if you like Gundams.
report Recommended by Rikudo14
A lot of over-the-top manliness. Honoo no Tenkousei plays it very tongue-in-cheek, whereas G Gundam's charm is in how serious it is about itself (thus becoming awesomely cheesy). I'd bet Domon and Takizawa are related, or alternate universe versions of each other or something.
report Recommended by lithiumflower
Mecha series with a hero motivated primarily by his unresolved issues with his long lost/presumed dead older brother.
report Recommended by lithiumflower
G-Gundam is sometimes compared to Street Fighter for being about fighters from all over the world duking it out. Plus both are hot-blooded fighting series from the 90s.
report Recommended by ZettaiRyouiki
Multinational team (Almost the same countries, even!) + mechas.
report Recommended by ZettaiRyouiki
Both are Super Robot shows with super manly protagonists and ridiculously awesome stuff happening all the time. It doesn't get much more over the top and hotblooded than either of these series.
report Recommended by darkmac
Both series have a theme of a country supporting a particular giant robot/mech and fighting it out to see who comes out on top.
report Recommended by madashes2ashes
Both have Super Robot hotblooded Super Robot pilots with spikey hair that can kick serious ass. Kouji and Domon both summon their respective mecha with a pose/snapping their figures and a piece of dialogue.
report Recommended by UltraTien
Both are very fun super robot shows. They involve pilots from various countries working together to face a larger threat. Both have a very strong emphasis on romance as well. Of course, Godannar does have much more fanservice, but despite that, the two series have a very similar feel.
report Recommended by soaker87
Both have the same concept: Super Robot fight and tournament.
report Recommended by Saks_Byenara
The RNK manga was a stong influence while doing G Gundam, you can see that in the matches, hot bloodedness, the stereotyped nations fighting in Gundams(who in other series are suposed to be Real Robots) using special tecniques is the same kind of desconstruction that Ring ni Kakero does with boxing. The Japan team characters also are simmilar to the Shuffle aliance counterparts,Ryuuji is similar to Domon,Jun to Argo,Ishimatsu to Sai Saici,Takeshi to George and Shinatora to Chibodee.

A group of multicultural fighters team up in a GAR, over-the-top adventure involving bizarre superpowers/mechs. The team consists of an irritable badass protagonist, an idiot, a flamboyant character, a strong and silent character, a kid/animal, and an older mentor with a link to the protagonist. The main character fights to save one of their parents, which they can only do by defeating a great evil that they first have to locate.

National stereotypes (or girls acting out national stereotypes, as is the case for girls und panzer) fighting in a tournament. Difference is Girls und Panzer stays as a tournament while G Gundam turns into a save the world thing at the end.
report Recommended by Kotori_Sonoda
More than one Gundam involved, better story, drama, mecha action, rivalry, and interesting points of the story could turn the entire show around into one great show. If you seen Gundam Wing, G Gundam, watch this one as well.
report Recommended by Rikudo14
Main characters are similar due to being a group of pilots piloting gundams. Another awesome Gundam show to watch since the gundam mecha design is based on G Gundams. Action packed and destruction at the same time too as well as plot development.
report Recommended by Rikudo14
Garrod and Domon are similar as well as fighting in a group of Gundams. The only difference is that in Gundam X, people fight for freedom and free from discrimination and in G Gundam, people fight in tournaments to rule the world.
report Recommended by Rikudo14
Both shows have martial arts, hot-blooded characters, and epic battles.
report Recommended by Shadowanime
Obviously both over the top action man-fights, with occasional women fights. But most importantly, both have fighting with ATTACK NAMES though Needless is more comedic
report Recommended by LemurrQQ
They both feature a multicultural cast that fights for the control of the realm. Queen's Blade focuses more on character development and G Gundam focuses more on the hotblooded fighting action. They are also both fanservice shows, one is dedicated to people who like breasts and the beauty of a woman's figure and the other is dedicated to the intrigue of fighting robots.
report Recommended by McRib
where as angelic layer is more on the cutesy side of things both of these shows have a turnament in which the main character must win or overcome. the stories are really good but with the longer shows the characters just have to keep fighting in more turnaments.
report Recommended by animehawk8504
Shaman King features a world-wide tournament held every 500 years to decide the fate of the world whereas G Gundam's world-wide tournament is held every 4 years to decide who rules Earth. Both of these shows also have a somewhat racist, yet humorous, portrayal of their respective fighters from around the world with the exception of Japan itself.
report Recommended by ZakuHead
Revelations and twists occur as the story progresses. Mecha action, drama, character development, and interactions are great as well.
