1) I have extraordinarily bad tastes and am willing to watch nearly anything. Bad animation? it almost never distracts me from enjoying the plot. Bad adaptation? I've likely never read/played the source material, so I wouldn't notice. Squicky elements? Have a high tolerance if I enjoy the plot/characters.
2) My favorite genre is mecha. I love very cute anime with bright artwork. I watch a lot of kids shows. Romance and fantasy are great too.
I don't really care for artsy anime, especially stand-alone films. I can't really get invested in the characters with such a short runtime, and they tend to be style over substance. Also, usually don't gravitate towards overly dark/gritty/violent anime. But really, I'm willing to give anything a fair shot.
3) If it's on dropped or on-hold at 0 eps. watched, it's not because I watched 0 episodes, just can't be bothered to remember how many I watched. Also, there's always a slim chance I'll pick up something I've dropped. It's happened before. I just consider them ultra-low priority.
4) No manga list because I barely ever read manga these days, no plan-to-watch because that's a black hole I'm not touching.
5)Feel free to ignore my ratings, because they're kind of mood dependent, and sometimes I just go change a lot of them. But basically, this is what they mean to me:
10- The best things I've ever watched. I rarely use this, even if I loved the show. This is like a flawless masterpiece for me.
9- Pretty amazing stuff that had a strong impact on me. Proof that you don't have to be perfect to still be absolutely worthwhile.
8- I found these to be well above average. If I rated it an 8, it might not be an all-time favorite of mine, but still high quality.
7- Shows I particularly enjoyed while watching but they probably aren't that memorable in hindsight. It's like eating a chocolate bar. No time wasted, still good stuff.
6- These shows didn't blow my mind by any means but were perfectly fine to watch once. Might have some really high point, but mostly it didn't leave an impact on me.
5- I wouldn't go as far as to call these bad, but I wouldn't really recommend wasting your time on them either. Mostly just watching them because I can.
4- Really weak stuff. Probably had some redeeming quality somewhere, but not enough to make up for what I disliked.
3- Garbage, plain and simple, yet you could still do worse.
2- I'm not sure what saves these from being a 1, but still not my most hated anime of all time. Just the honorable mentions.
1- The worst, most wretched things I've ever subjected myself to and I wish to unsee. So far, only five anime have offended me to the level where they've received this honor.
I'm never in the 'my ships are/should be canon' camp. Some of these are super delusion. I just think they're neat.
I like messy and complicated, and I’m weak for good character x villain (or jerk), especially when the hero is kind-hearted, compassionate and always believes in the villain who in turn is soft for them and becomes a better person.
Expect a part 4 somewhere down the line because I have even more!

The idea of Pikaia being about the Cambrian era seems quite interesting. Normally series comment a lot on dinosaurs when it comes to prehistory, so something about other creatures sounds interesting.
Battle Spirits deserves more love in the west. Brave made a big impression on me.
I watched most of the Jewelpet series too, and I was surprised that the franchise doesn't follow the same narrative style in its series, Sunshine and Lady for example really surprised me.
I heard that Legendz is very humorous and it's easy to like it.
I've heard of the Tomica franchise, but I haven't watched many mecha series for kids. But I remember watching Gyrozetter because a friend of mine really liked it. I thought it was a really fun experience, the plot is simple, but the characters shine a lot.
Hello, how are you? :)
I see you watched a lot of children's anime. Are there any really good ones that aren't predictable or don't have such a linear narrative that you would recommend to anyone who wants a different experience from the more famous franchises?
Mushiking is on amazon-jp's instant video [and yahoo's Gyao] have it available for rent.
We are currently holding a pool to try and afford the price, because they advertise as being in "HD".
Do either of these 2 pages mention having CC on the videos for rent?
Now we have 2 reasons to covet these.
> I know of this site
That's a really handy site to know about, thank you.
And having the CC to the movies is a huge help if we ever decide to cover them. Double thank you.
> By the way, what is the movie?
There are 2 movies.
No shared staff with the series.
I love Mushiking because of it's directing, it's aesthetic, it's character designs, it's music, and writing etc.
i.e. 100% the people who made it and how they made it. So removing the key staff kills the anime franchise.
Greatest Champion is a movie about the arcade/video/card-game of Mushiking. Sorta like yugioh etc.
Completely unrelated to the show.
But I'm very interested in watching it.
Altered Beetles is technically "mushiking 2", but it's not a continuation of the story.
It's a filler movie. Or a tech-demo.
It's in full 3D.
And looks absolutely fucking awful. https://i.imgur.com/GSDZ6e7.jpg
However it is actually how I came to discover Mushiking.
I'd just finished and loved Ninja Batman. https://myanimelist.net/anime/36517/
And wanted to look for more. I followed the director's tiny pool of credits https://myanimelist.net/people/40476/
And saw Altered Beetles. Tried it, thought it was shit, but then went to see the parent show to see what that was about.
I watched ep 1 and it was instantly obvious that this was literally just Casshern Sins. So I loved it.
I then checked the credits, and it's literally the proto-Casshern Sins. All the shared staff.
So Altered Beetles is definitely not something you'd be interested in, but it is because of it that I came to be doing this fansub so I owe it that.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Sounds like fun. I can't wait till I get to experience it.
Yea, the CG sucks ass. It's a real shame. What's a bigger shame is how expensive CG was in 2005, it definitely made the show significantly more expensive to produce than if they'd gone with 2d fights. I recentally heard that for that reason Spirits Within was one of if not the most expensive anime movies ever [not Akira as I'd thought before].
Moribito is in a similar state to Mushiking. Utterly incredible show, one of my top favourites, might've been a 10 or a 9. But the crap cgi is just, ouch. There isn't much of it for most of the show but you get plenty of an eye-full leading up to and in the finale that really turned me off.
If you'd be ever interested in helping us out with the subs of Mushiking, I'd never say no.

Is this an irl television channel in japan, or a streaming service?
Such a shame, as someone did rip the tv broadcasts.
no CC

I haven't thought of that, so haven't looked. Where would such things be? They weren't on the DVD.

Or just errors in the source themselves. I'm keeping a tally.
Just passively looking, not active.
