both series have teams sent by the living colony to the outside world. in both series, these teams are considered useless by the colony peoples.

Aside of similar setting, vibe and cast both of them is about fighting the world (the system) with the power of friendship.

similar world building, similar character tropes, similar monsters
report Recommended by B0nkerss
Both shows have humanity struggling to survive on giant moving mega cities as some monster creature attacks. The subject area of how humans arrived on the moving cities differ overall, but both shows also have moments of cute banter between cast members who are from a different places. Gargantia can be classified as a mecha show, but it is no where near Gundam levels of mecha genere. Both shows are great. Also fun mascot characters, Pipe and Chamber for the win!

It shares a similar dynamic of an older character becoming something of a mentor to young new girl learning the ropes. The story is about hunting dragons which are kind of like the monsters in this anime. And at the same time these shows share an interesting setting. In this case they live in a mobile combat fortress while in Drifting Dragons they live in a Airship constantly on the prowl for the next dragon hunt.

These shows are both set in a post-apocalyptic world wherein they have to fight against invaders. In Deca-Dence there are Gadolls and in Darling in the FranXX you have the Klaxosaurs.

-Both anime have monsters that humans need to fight against -The MC have in common that their families died because they were killed by monsters

Similar settings and stories (to an extend). The core story roots are very different, but the idea of a group of humans fighting unknown enemy creatures from a mobile fortress remains the same. They both have very good action animation, and give similar vibes at times.

Very similar tone, with a young driven female lead, with lots of comedy, action and a very similar animation style. Kill La Kill is a little more over the top than Deca-Dence but they are very similar and Deca-Dence definitely brings to mind a Studio Trigger animation.

You will encounter the exact relationship between the Man and the Girl. Especially the apathetic middle-aged man Kaburagi and Kyouma. Battle and action rely on physical ability and the use of mechanical tools. The Sci-Fi concept of the two is nearly similar (I think). And you will recognize something about their World mystery (as the story progresses) Both are set in the future timeline.

Characters that don't fully understand the world they live in, and most of the story comes from unraveling that. They also both feature similar art styles in certain ways, though I won't go into detail on that for spoilers. Kaiba is a masterpiece, Deca-Dence is just a fun story to watch, but both left me with a similar feeling (though Kaiba was much stronger).

Both are sci-fi stories about dystopian and utopian societies. They tackle many of the same themes, despite sometimes having fairly different tones. They both have great plot twists and it's enjoyable to discover and unravel the mysteries of both worlds. Not everything is as it seems.

Both set in a post-apocalyptic future, with a protagonist that is, somehow, an "anomaly" that learns how to use his/her talent and a world that is not what it appears to be. Also, both have great action scenes.

- Both mc's as child were attacked by the monsters forcing them to have prosthetic/cyborg parts - Only certain people are able to fight off the monsters - Same overall "defend the city from the monsters"
report Recommended by NatureSpark99
Similarly light-hearted, a story about surviving within a dystopia and trying to find meaning inside of it.

Similar in art direction.

There already were some Trigger titles recommended for fans of Deca-Dence due to it's art style and animation. I fully agree there: it is really simple yet effective, and sakuga in the fights can be truly wonderful. But there is also a theme, which is very similar to Promare one: rising against the system. Both in Promare and Deca-Dence system was fighting against some minority it considered bad, and because of that main heroes are up against it.

both anime have an obnoxious main character and get more powerful throughout the entire series

Similarities: - Same story plot where humanity thinks that the world they live in is the only world that exist, not knowing that there is a world outside the world they live in. -Same Maine Character who will do all the fighting. -Same apocalyptical setting. Dissimilarities: Deca Dence; - Main character has a girl as his sidekick. -Main character itself was part of the side that suppresses the truth about the other world. -the anime is an orginal. Back arrow - taken from a LN and Manga. -Main character is a bit of an air head.

these two shows both introduce an interesting world for the viewer to invest in, as well as similar main characters

Both anime take place in the future of humanity. Those two Sci-Fi works are the story of young girls starting in professional life in a very special place (Deca-Dence in... Deca-Dence and Technora's space ship in Planetes). They discover the organization of their workplace, and the fact that their job is quite demeaning.
report Recommended by afoxii
Both have similar antagonists, deal with 2 separate societies of people that condemn each other, and have similar conclusions. Also, both are pretty upbeat and feel good to watch. They also have similar technologies and aesthetics.
report Recommended by Enivlens
Plenty of overlap in their themes, especially regarding "fighting the system".
report Recommended by gingys
Both shows have the same dynamic of a male main character with a mysterious past working along side a younger and more inexperienced female main character. Both shows have interesting worlds where the main character's try to discover the truth within that world.

"strange" shows that play with the genres their presenting as- but not in immediately obvious ways. Both are the type of show where its hard to recommend due to its main appeals being core spoilers.

i think this two anime similar with several factor 1. moving city two of this anime live in moving city but in CSR there are magic while deca- dence doesn't have it 2. mysterious character in CSR the mc is the mysterious one while in deca-dence the kaburagi is the mysterious one

Off-beat sci-fi with unique art and character design, you can't get more than a few episodes into Deca-Dence without being transported back to Production I.G.'s bizarro sleeper hit, Dead Leaves.

Virtual avatars and colorful creatures make both series fun. There's deeper meaning to the workings of the world and the seemingly childish characters.

Sabikui Bisco and Deca-Dence are two over the top action/adventure anime set in a post-apocalyptic world. Sabikui Bisco's strengths are the characters and action sequences. Deca-Dence's strengths are the world building and action sequences. If you embrace their setup then you will enjoy these series.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and Deca-Dence will deliver on everything you need in a good science fiction: a futuristic society, engaging world building, and imaginative technologies. Most importantly, their storylines examine the impact of living in such a society on the main characters. Of course, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and Deca-Dence are part of different sci-fi subgenres and have different tones. You don't want to miss out on these sci-fi anime.

Children of the Whales and Deca-Dence are engaging anime series where humans live in a mobile city who have to fight for their survival in an almost post-apocalyptic world. There is a considerable amount of world building in both series that makes you want to learn more about their worlds and societies. While Children of the Whales and Deca-Dence have very different types of stories and characters, an important aspect of the series is having main characters rejecting the foundation of their societies which are maintained by secrets.

Deca-Dence and Eden explore a similar subject - the existence of humanity after its near extinction and its relationship with advanced artificial intelligence. Eden has a more simple story given its shorter length and its twists are predictable, but it is still enjoyable to watch. Deca-Dence has a more inventive storyline that borrows from familiar anime and sci-fi concepts in a new way. Although the world building in both anime has some critique on modern society, this is not a fully developed theme compared to Wall-E for example.

Without spoiling too much, both of these do have similar settings and moods. They both have very well animated fights, fantasy/sci-fi settings, and both begin with a fairly large plot twist (though if you didn't see Sword Art Online's coming from a mile away I don't know what you were watching). They both have their flaws, one more than the other, but are enjoyable fantasy series nonetheless. Deca Dence has a bit more of a message to say, but if you are looking for something fun and enjoyed one, you might like the other.

Action-adventure series that analyze the flaws in toxic systems. Both have prison breaks. The main characters are rebels. Great animation and music. Recommended for cultured people.

If you lived in an Orwellian society, how would you react to the truth? Always knowing the truth, Kaburagi (Deca-Dence) had never questioned his role in this society until an encounter with a plucky girl makes him want to change things. Never knowing the truth, Takeru (Freedom) is ready to challenge society when he discover the truth in order to meet a girl. Freedom has a more simple plot whereas Deca-Dence combines various sci-fi concepts into its plot. You are sure to enjoy them!

both very vibrant looking anime that subvert expectations and flip the script

While on the surface they couldn't seem more different, Deca-Dence and Princess Tutu are both fundamentally about fighting against one's designated role in the system. At the core of each series is a girl who, against all circumstances, is determined to rewrite her destiny, and ultimately the world's as she inspires others to do the same.
report Recommended by Neko-Hoshishima
Very similar in tone, playfulness, and genuine light-hearted warmth with lots of action, and a good dose of comedy. Led by a female lead young girl with lots of drive and determination. You'd be forgiven for thinking Deca-Dence is a Studio Trigger animation because of how similar they are.
report Recommended by Sara_Isayama
Although deca-dence has more of a mobile fortress feel to it it reminds me so much of the gigantic mecha's used in heavy object and how these things do battle with other similarly gigantic things. As well as how just single people can also take down these gigantic things which is present in both.

Aside of similar setting, vibe and cast both of them is about fighting the system with ultimate power (friendship - Deca-Dence, love - Eureka Seven).
