A group of kids/teenagers get stranded during a school trip in space. To survive, they must work together as a team and explore the unknown planet/planets around them.

Although the two shows feature different settings and genres, the two shows are about groups of people making a journey who end up stranded with someone who shouldn't be there, ultimately trying to survive while weeding out the odd man out. Spoilers for both shows are deadly and should be avoided at all costs.

Both shows are about children/Teenagers with no experience of space, getting stuck in a space station or a spaceship, trying everything to get home safely, whilst there is an impostor among the ones involved that endangers the life of the rest of the cast.

Both involves certain situation where the characters found themselves in a predicament where SURVIVAL is not just the name of the game but also to thrive as they live on.
report Recommended by JiangHaoyi1979
Both shows revolve around groups exploring space with somewhat political side plots. Both shows also have a very strong "found family" trope.

The shows take place in the future and the histories of the worlds the main characters live in are filled with mysteries. The stories focus on teenagers/kids who find themselves in a dangerous situation and have to work together to get out of it alive. The main protagonists of both series are determined not to leave anyone of their team/family behind.

Almost identical premises - a group of teens are trapped on a spaceship miles away from any hope of rescue, and must figure out how to survive together. Astra is far more lighthearted than Ryvius, though it does have its moments of seriousness.

a lot of people don't know Kanata no Astra is a kind of homage to 11-nin Iru! many of the same characters, similar premise about kids training to fly into space end up on a ship and have to learn to cooperate to achieve their goal. Astra is a full series from a longer manga (11-nin Iru! is a one shot iirc) so can go into more depth, but if you like Astra, this movie is worth checking out. vice versa of course

sci-fi and comedy go hand in hand in both of these shows, though I most say that RobiHachi is much more on the comedy side than Kanata no Astra, and Kanata no Astra has a better storyline I guess ( both are comedies in the end and shouldn't be too fixed on the story anyways in my opinion), so in conclusion if you enjoyed the comedy aspect of Kanata no Astra you will definitely enjoy this one

The 2 may have different setting , where one was set in some deserted Island , while the other one was set in the future , but the goal were still the same which the group have to work together in order to survive.

Group of teens who experience character growth together and uncover truths of their worlds, changing their lives as they have known it growing up. Very similar feeling

Similarities : - Both involve an impostor who try to kill a group of student - The student have special abilities (there is no super power in Kanata no Astra but they have power like big brain or super athletic body...) Dissimilarities : - Kanata no Astra takes takes place in space - The plot in Kanata no Astra isn't focused on the impostor, it's more about adventure and mysteries but you'll still have the same vibes

Both are sci-fi series that are bound to leave a deep emotional impact on you. Filled with a lovable cast and full of intrigue and twists just like Astra. Obviously, the structure of the story is very different, as is the plot, but as both stories feature similar aesthetics, similar soundtracks, and overall have similar vibes, I recommend all fans of Astra Lost in Space to view Vivy as well!

Both Kanata no Astra and Summertime Render have thriller and suspenseful vibes. Based on mysteries, they both can be a series you'd like to binge watch.

Children live in what is ultimately found out to be a post-apocalyptic world, brainwashed by the previous generations about it, and discovering the dark past accidentally. Both shows have a slow and slice-of-lifeish start but ends up showing multiple plot twists along the way. However unlike Shinsekai Yori, Kanata no Astra isn't that slow-paced.

-Both involve a group that has to come together after being thrust into an unfamiliar setting in order to survive -Both have likeable cast of characters on a team together -Both have a character who steps up to be the leader and gains the respect of their teammates

Both shows start with mostly unexperienced children/teens being thrown into war/danger/conflict situations in a sci-fi setting (Vifam is heavy on this) with a hint of mystery(Astra is heavier on this). Developing human relations between boys and girls from very different backgrounds are an important topic in both shows. Both have a good mix of fun and serious elements and simple but memorable character designs. Vifma definitely was a major inspiration for Kanata no Astra. Both shows form an excellent bridge between anime of old days and modern productions.

"kanata no astra" and "one piece" are two gems in adventure genre. in fact, both the series have a very wonderful settings which is really easy to get into. besides, if you like animez with lots of wonderfully fleshed-out character, particularly a strong and dependable MC who jokes around all the time but gets serious when needed, i promise you won't regret watching these.

Gankutsuou and Astra Lost in Space are similar. They each follow a group of teenagers set in the future, in which a series of mysteries will unfold. Each has their fair share of dramatic moments and plot twists. Characters in each of these anime have diffucult pasts, a common factor being a poor relationship with their parents. Both are enjoyable sci-fi dramas that will keep you on the edge of your seat!

In both series, a group of characters are traveling with no food, and have to resort to making food from the lifeforms around them. In Dungeon Meshi it's monsters from a dungeon, and in Astra Lost in Space it's whatever lifeforms inhabit the planets they travel through. Also, both series have a strong comedic approach. Though they also have some occasional darker moments, it's mostly lighthearted fun! So if you enjoyed one of them, you might also like the other one!

Two shows about groups of students exploring and marveling at new places they had never imagined before - the ocean in Grand Blue, and space in Astra. Both shows have a lot of positive energy, though Astra has a darker side to it too.
report Recommended by Ebo
Both are relatively near-future sci-fi series that are heavily character driven with particular emphasis on the strengthening bonds among a group of individuals as they work towards a common goal.

The second parts of the shows are similar, in a sense that you understand a lot more the history of the world they live in.

The entire vibe of this show is very similar. Character representation, how each character has a special skill. The way the story is written and the jokes put in there are also similar. The jokes land very well by the way.

The initial premise is almost identical: A group of privileged kids are no longer wanted and get discarded on a foreign planet. From there on, they have explore the planets, figure out how to survive, solve the mystery of why people want them dead - and somehow try and get back home again. Along the way, they'll struggle to survive, encounter betrayal and love - and fight against the lies and deceit that got them exiled in the first place. Lord El-Melloi II and Astra Lost in Space are whodunit mystery series using their fantasy and sci-fi settings to draw viewers into their stories. Lord El-Melloi II contains various investigations into magical mysteries. While it contains some Fate action sequences, this aspect is secondary to the mystery. Astra Lost in Space contains two mysteries related to the main characters being lost in space. It successfully balances character survival and resolving the mystery. Both anime should satisfy anyone who enjoys mysteries with a little something extra.

The characters in both shows venture in space together. They have very different plots but similarly in every planet they visited. There are always new adventures to see and do.

Both titles delve into the themes of exploring interpersonal bonds in unique environments against their will of the protagonist, pairing them up with complete strangers. While having different settings, both plots incorporate a sci-fi mystery aspect that is well crafted that unfolds and thickens the plot greatly throughout the story. They both start off on the lighter side, exploring characters and their bonds and finish with deep and interesting plots worthy of making them sci-fi tags.

If you liked the script surprises of one of these series, it will surely surprise you too. In addition, both animes have teenage characters in a science fiction environment.
