Toshokan Sensou

The protagonist is voiced by the same seiyuu, and she is a tomboy girl who always tries her best. Also her love interest is someone from her past that she saw once but now she doesn't recognizes him. Same vibe overall.  

Valkyria Chronicles also seems like a war and love story and comedy all rolled into one like Toshokan Sensou. These shows have a similar military and comedy feeling. And Inoue Marina is the voice actress of both main protagonists, Kasahara Iku and Melchiott Alicia. Both of them are kinda tsundere and tomboyish, although Alicia looks little bit more feminine. Even other characters of these shows may have common attributes. 

Besides sharing the same genre, both have female protagonists working to the future of their respective roles and accomplishing their missions. Although their plots are entirely different, the two series have a fair share of conflicts and purpose that pertains to their respective stories. 

the two main characters have the same kind of relationship in both series. the female lead is taller than the main guy and always tease them about how short they are... they also have the same interests or personality but always fighting which is hilarious!! they both definately have romance in them and they all soon to relise they they are falling in love with the other person. Lovely complex is more focused about the charaters relationships+comedy and Toshoukan is more military, training and books.... 

Both feature groups of students fighting to protect freedom of speech.  

Premise is similar, both contain oppressive laws taking away things people take for granted. Media Enhancement Act in Toshokan Sensou allows censorship of books whereas in Chocolate Underground, chocolate is banned in the country by health laws. 

Both have a somewhat earnest and idealistic female as the leading character who tries to change the world they live in. Both also have a relatively smaller close-knit group of characters. The male lead in each series is shorter than average and have hot-heads. The art styles and character designs deviate from regular anime styles and both these shows have political undertones. 

Both are science-fiction, military-related anime although Toshokan Sensou doesn't have mechas. The main male characters give the same feelings but are quite different. Toshokan Sensou deals with book protection task force while FMP is oriented at resolving world terrorism and conflict. But both are military organization that works for an ideal, justice and freedom. 

Great romance stories. You get to watch the relationships develop over time. However Itazurna na kiss is all about the relationship and family dynamic while for Toshokan the romance is just one aspect of it. Toshokan has also comedy and action. So overall witty and lovable characters, great stories, nice artwork..  

The female protagonists are very similar. They never give up and work hard to achieve their goals. They are strong, funny and yet vulnerable all at the same time. Both of these animes have a good amount of comedy, drama, relationships, learning experiences and even action. If you love one, you will love the other. So overall witty and lovable characters, great storises, nice artwork..  

Look at those titles-- it doesn't take a genius to connect 'Read or Die' to 'Library Wars'. Both series have main characters who... well, love and protect books. And while Toshokan Sensou is more realistic than ROD, you can't deny the similarities. 

They both deal with the government restricting society in a way. In Psycho-Pass, it happens because of the Sybil System, and in Library Wars, through excessive censorship. I can't guarantee that if you like one, you'll like the other one too, though. They're both very different in terms of execution. Library Wars is a lot more light-hearted and adds a bit of romance. Psycho Pass is a lot more heavy and serious. Freedom is also less restricted in Library Wars, where they only restrict media, whereas in Psycho Pass, the Sybil System controls everything. But if you're looking for something that deals with human rights and free will, you might as will give one of these a try. read more 

The relatioship between the protagonists are alike, and also is the humor. there are some parts that Kasahara really reminds me to Nodame. It's a really funny anime. 

A world of secrets and stories to unfold - Toshokan Sensou and Toaru Hikuushi e no Koiuta explores a journey characters embarks on as they face what's ahead of them. The main male protagonist of both series is part of a unit force with given assignments that puts their lives at risk. Yet, they are able to tackle against obstacles through their will. Their experience lives both joy and sadness throughout each perspective stories. And from that story, great secrets are revealed that will forever change their lives forever. 

The anime are both about libraries, although The Book of Bantorra has a fantasy background. Both anime are well animated and have great characters.

Thought in one is n actual military corp defending books and general media and in the other is an idol space opera defending entertainment as a whole, the similarities in plot are quite obvious (i wonder how anyone realized this before). 

When I saw Toshokan Sensou, this anime is remind me of Zeta Gundam. MBC is like Titans and LDF is like AEUG. There is also featuring civil war. MBC want to ban the books which is compared to Titans where they tries to ban the spacenoid. I could imagine when they are anti-anime. 

There's a similar conspiracy element and both have deal with government agencies. They also both have a sort of slow, deliberate pace. 

Very gutsy female protagonists who stand up for what they believe in, they are also very passionate and vulnerable at the same time. The male protagonists and female MC relationships develop in a nice amount of time and isn't rushed. Both extremely funny series which both can get serious on some aspects. Both HILARIOUS  

Both animes have a tomboy girl as the main charater Online is a survival game anime and the other is a military game Both have a similar vibe with some romance  

It has the similar warish feel about it and the romance is also very similar. The only main difference is that Soul Link is in Space and Library Wars was taken place on earth. 

Toshokan Sensou is pretty much a seinen version of FMA, in the sense that Roy Mustang is the main character, instead of Ed.  

Kino has a chapter where she visits a village where certain books are banned for being offensive, looking for a book. There is also a book episode 

Both are action series involving something that must be protected. For Toshokan Sensou, books & for Rail Wars!, railways & trains. Both also have have an opposing faction. For Toshokan Sensou, Media Betterment Committee & for Rail Wars!, RJ. 

The female protagonists are similar. They wok very hard and are good at sports. They are kind and passionate but vunerable at times too. Both anime have romance in it, but Kaichou wa maid sama focuses on the drama and romance where as in Toshokan Sensou, they focus more on the action aspect. 

Hilarious animes about the main characters working their ways to self improvement while being surrounded by some good looking guys. Both of these animes have romance and plenty of comedy. You won't regret watching either.  

Both involve main characters who idolize a guy without seeing the one right in front of them. Toshokan Sensou is significantly shorter and has a very different setting. But they're both funny, and featured short-tempered female leads. Toradora! is definitely the stronger series, but Toshokan Sensou has it's moments.  

After watching "Toshokan sensou", I had the feeling that it was somehow in some way similar to "Now and Then, Here and There".. Although these two series are thinking in two completely differenty ways (Toshokan.. has strong comedy in which the drama of the "battlefields" sneaks in, on the other hand, however, Now and Then.. is not the least a happy story, but rather has a very tense atmosphere), see the world from two different viewpoints (Toshokan.. features adult or teenage characters, while Now and Then.. has children as its heroes, resulting in the fact that there cannot be balance between the two parties fighting, the mad dictator and the rebelling children-soldiers; also, Now and Then.. gives its characters more personal an unique traits, details them more), in spite of all these crucial differencies, both series think about (among other issues, of course) the same thing: WAR (actually, Now and Then.. is rather about the soldiers forced to fight by their commander, than an actual and particular war, though they do invide a village; here the "war" is rather the suffering and enduring of the children in hope of survival and, of course, the Lala Lu-hunting in search of water - which makes the dictator's end pretty ironical, by the way, not to spoil Your fun..). Anyways, wathing either of them, you are bound to think "Why?", why the whole war, "Is it worth it?", especially in Toshokan.., since it brings up the dilemma of the possibility or impossibility/propriety or impropriety of measuring human life and books (also knowledge and cultural inheritence, the "life" of humanity as a whole) as equal; Now and Then.. presents the dictator's obsession with water as such a problem, though it might not be the centre issue in the story. Both make you think further.. As for my recommendation, for those who liked Now and Then.., I can gladly recommend to watch Toshokan sensou, as the latter is a more light-hearted one; however, -although I think You would like them vica versa, too- those who liked the mentioned light-heartedness (not in the last few episodes, though) of Toshokan.. should prepare for a more "serious" tone in Now and Then..; still, I am not saying "gloomy" because the hero is optimistic and trying to change his fellow little soldiers, however, it is another question whether his efforts are welcomed by the others or they think that he has no right to interfere, but they should rather hold on to the status quo, in favour of sheer survival.. read more 

Both are themed around a more realistic militaristic theme about them and result in a much less fantastical plot lines. You also feel that both the protagonists are at a point in their lives where they are just realizing just what they are living for.  

War over books.. well.. can't say it's a war in read or die, but it almost a war.. 

Fuses romance/comedy shoujo with superb action and suspense!  

Both stories focus on army and a certain form of arts (literature/music). Both series also share the unfortunate fact of being way too short. Because of this both have a rushed ending, but otherwise I personally find them both wonderful. One more thing in common: both have a clumsy and cute main character. 

Romance, Comedy, Action. Lovable characters. They are both similar in that aspect. Love em!! Give it a try, you won't regret it. So overall witty and lovable characters, great stories, nice artwork..  

Seras and Kasahara are very similar to one another. Both women are capable, upbeat, naive, and reliable. They become an important an irreplacable part of their military units. Though the series have a different atomosphere from one another, they both are excellent and highly recommended.  

Anime about an unusual police force (Patlabor - mechs, Toshokan Sensou - librarians) that have a mix of light-hearted character interaction (spunky female lead included) and serious police operations.  

They are both set in an un-typical military setting with unique main characters. They don't waste time in the story telling. Well I don't know what else, I just thought they were similar. 

The female protagonists are very similar. They are strong, funny and yet vulnerable all at the same time. The relationships they enter into with the male characters are also great because they develop more naturally over time. They are not sappy or fake but there is a lovely tenderness and protectiveness towards one another that was great and heartfelt. So overall witty and lovable characters, great stories, nice artwork..  

Seras and Kasahara are very similar to one another. Both women are capable, upbeat, naive, and reliable. They become an important an irreplacable part of their military units. Though the series have a different atomosphere from one another, they both are excellent and highly recommended.
