- Small child trapped in a fantasy/spirit world. - Small child grows and makes the best of their situation. - Small child earning their keep and learning new things. - Traditional Japanese-style fantasy realm. Spirited Away is the much better paced, written, and animated story of the two. Bakemono no Ko attempts to be a bit more 'grown-up', and has a story spanning a much longer period of time.

Clear parallels between growing up as someone who doesn't belong with a focus on choosing your own path. Also... you know ;)

I got a similar vibe off both, tears were shed in both and their are swords...

Division. Though plots vary between the two, they share a similar theme with beast people being separated by normal humans. Though, BNA is harsher in the theme in that it shows the beastmen are being oppressed and hated by humans. Boy and Beast show a distinct separation between the two societies where there is no acknowledgement of existence between beats and humans. Both are good anime with BNA being heavily focused on action, and superpowers, in comparison to not so a lot of action in Boy and Beast.

Both movie deal with fantasy genre and struggle being single parent. The race of Maquia is long live that even their age is hundred yrs they still look kid, She raise a child that not her own. Where Bakemono no ko conflicts comes to Kumatetsu is a beast that raise child. Both movie showing between parent and children, with the struggles of growing up, yet also being set in a believable fantasy world. Great and heartwarming story, very detailed and with action. Definitely will keep you entertained.

Addresses similar themes concerning found families, runaways, and fantasy elements, but does it with a stronger attention to detail in terms of the story on presentation.

Collaboration. It takes metal to sharpen a knife, one must be mutually intact with said other in order for not one to prevail, but all in unison. Such is true for Boy and Beast and Summer Wars. Summer Wars follows Kenji entering a new family in hopes to take down the parasite infecting the world of OZ, in consequence, the entire world. Boy and Beast is a coming-of-age story of two very different individuals helping out one another in hopes to reach what they wish for. Both are great stories of how differences can be used to benefit one another, in the sense that, we can  read more

two stories that tell about some sort of conflict in the world of spirits. central characters are mentor and his pupil, who don't get along at first, but develop mutual friendship as the story progresses. both combine tranquil natural sceneries and ghibli-esque vibe with martial arts action in urban setting.

while these are two fairly different stories, they are both very focused on themes of family and acceptance. Obviously both contain lots of talking animals (and animal-like creatures). Very good animation in both, especially some of the more abstract movements. Similar vibes, though Eccentric Family feels more fleshed out (likely due in part to it having more time to build it's world and characters).

Heartwarming, sweet moments, adventure, tension, and an art style that never fails to amaze the eyes. Both movies may be a little abstract at times, but they pull at your heart in just the right way. Two stories about growing up in a strange world, learning about the importance of family in the best way possible. Studio Chizu is a master at producing wholesome movies.

Swordplay and fighting. Two interesting characters that get along in their own way and just a similar atmosphere.

An arrogant one. The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and The Boy and The Beast both follow arrogant minded young people who begin to learn that their ways aren't necessarily the best way to handle things in life. Time leaping Makoto finds herself in a hassle due to her unthoughtful use of jumping through time constantly. Ren is different in that he is a bratty child who ends up separated from the human world. Both, however, go through their respective issues understanding where they went wrong in the past. Both are good anime movies made by the same director Mamoru Hosoda. Though TokiKake is a light romance  read more

Both movies feature a spiritual realm in juxtaposition with a human world, and a male character being raised by a denizen of this realm in a parental fashion (under a different context, of course). They are both beautiful and pleasant movies, and at times certain details and animation sequences of Da Yu reminded me of Bakemono no Ko.

The relationship between a mythical being/animal and a human one is one that brings the strangest of developments for a human-like us. Despite being of two separate lifeforms the conveying of emotion is the same regardless. Princess Mononoke and Boy and Beast check out with the two being about connections between the interspecies relationship as said above. Both are highly acclaimed movies where Princess Mononoke is more than just some Ghibli movie, the same for Boy and Beast being coming-of-age.

It's more of, the training life. Two kids from nowhere take it up with their coach to fight and get strong enough to take on the world. There are obstacles along the way and lessons to be learnt too. The real world is no joke, considering how vastly different they are from the world they were previously situated in. Boy and Beast is more of fantasy compared to something futuristic like the sci-fi in Megalo Box. I guess both are based a little on family, or at least close relationships with random people you've never thought to be with, but will help you every step of  read more

• Both the supernatural anime primarily focuses into the romantic relationship between a boy and a girl from two different world. • Both the anime have lots of wholesome and bittersweet moments.

These two movies have some similarities like: 1. Father-Son Relationship (even though they're not blood related) 2. Life-lessons about life that you can relate 3. Funny, enjoyable to watch and good to recommend to kids ~Sorry for my Bad English~

Alternate reality. Children aren't the most rational-minded people in the world, and with such a handicap, stories The Boy and The Beast and A Whisker Away give a good example of the flaws young people have in making their own decision to life, showing how an unwanted reality can affect those into the going down an unnatural growing path. Boy and Beast follows Ren travelling into the beast realm, after running from his family affairs. The same is with Whisker Away with Muge becoming a cat to run from her family affairs. Both are good anime movies with both being as dramatic and romantic as one another.

Care. Despite different plots, the common feature that the two anime share is that there is a relationship between one that is human and one that isn't. Senko-san is about Nakano and him being constantly pampered by Senko. Boy and Beast follows Ren and his upbringing with Kumatetsu he had been following, which brings for a bumpy road for their relationship. Both are good anime with Senko-san being a heartwarming s.o.l in comparison to a dramatic Boy and Beast.

Guardian. Hinamatsuri and The Boy and The Beast both follow two questionable people taking in another questionable person, who surprisingly, make an interesting pair together. Hinamatsuri follows yakuza member Nitta and esper airhead Hina going on whatever the hell their daily lives give them. Boy and Beast follows childish Ren paired with irresponsible Kumatetsu living together as if they were father and son. Both are good anime with Hinamatsuri focusing on comedy, as well as some deep experiences. Boy and Beast being a coming of age.

Taken in. Mob Psycho 100 and The Boy and The Beast follow kids taken in by someone in a manner that is along the lines of parenting, but they act as a guardian. MP100 follows esper Mob trying to make good use of his powers via Reigen and his business, Boy and Beast are similar with an irresponsible Kumatetsu pair up with a bratty Ren, both making each other grow stronger by pointing out their different flaws. Both are good anime with there being action in both, as well as some comedy. Though MP100 is more ingrained in the two genres than the lighter Boy and Beast.

Similarities: - Centres on acceptance, family bonds, and uncovering mysteries about themselves - Heartwarming and sweet - A pinch of romance (not so much that it affects the plot) - Both MC's are a pair (human & non-human) - MC's develop a family-type relationship - A few sprinkles of comedy - Teaches you a thing or two about life (acceptance, love, family) - Beautiful art styles *warning* you may cry

Both protagonists are little kids, living among humans. But one day they lose someone very close to them and from that moment their life changes. We get to see how main character grows up and how strong he becomes, when he has to live among not only humans, but also beasts and monsters.

Both anime was about a human that get "adopted" by a spiritual being.

Both are stories about parents, and family, and loss and strength, and growing up and learning how to make a place for one's self to belong. They're both really touching and they have similar fantasy settings, along with a good dose of nicely done action.

Fantasy anime about a boy who is under a warrior's custody, and mentioned warrior became a parental figure to him, and both characters grow because that parent-child relationship.

Both movies have young protagonists who see spirits. Both protagonists have to find their place among these spirits and play a great role in protecting their territory.
