Just your average person, taking a liking towards Japanese media after having fond memories of some of the Ghibli works when I was young.
The next bit is really long, but it's just for me. It's how I categorize my list so I can find and compare shit in the future.
List Tag Index;
Trope Tags;
These list things that appear in the show. They don't presume the show or motif is good or bad, just straight facts. This will exclude the MAL genre tags since you can just click on the anime for those, but will include some of my own sub-genre tags.
TC - Tag Check; a reminder for me to update them later. Usually means I'm planning to rewatch.
AH - Anti-hero Protagonist; Like a weeby Batman, but he actually kills people.
DB - Dub > Sub; The Dub is better than the Sub. The given rating on the list is of the dubbed version.
EM - Emotional; A show designed specifically to make you feel something. Usually the big sad.
FL - Fillers; Contains an exorbitant amount of filler-arcs. These will be considered in the rating.
FS - Fan service; Anime has ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) despite not being Ecchi.
GR - Gamer; Alluding to games and their strategies. Also includes video game tropes and/or actually being inside a game.
HA - Haha; Comedy Tag.
HR - Harem; A Protagonist made of cardboard being harassed by his club of, as Digibro once put it, "spurned women".
IS - Isekai; Another-world anime have really grown, haven't they? In number, of course, not in quality. lmao.
KM - Kemono; It's like furries, but from 日本.
KMM - Kemonomimi; It's apparently nothing like furries, but still from 日本.
MT - Meta; Jokes or allusions to common practices in anime or other media in general. Like the "____ Movie" movies, but actually funny. Also works for subversive shows.
NT - Nature; When the hippies couldn't get you to respect the trees the decided to get anime to tell you about it instead.
PF - Power Fantasy; A story about how much some loser can suddenly start winning at life after they become insanely OP.
RHR - Reverse Harem; A spurned female Protagonist made of cardboard being harassed a large gathering of Yaoi wet dreams.
TCG - Card Game Anime; An anime about tabletop games or other such analogous concepts.
SB - Slow Burner; A show that takes a while, but when it hits, it hits like E6S's Instant Incineration.
WTF - What the Fuck?; The kind of show that your friend tries to explain to you to get you interested into watching, but they say "but..." waaaaay too many times and you're extremely suspicious about it being "that kind of show". This is that kind of show.
Qualities;
These list good or bad characteristics of the show as a whole. These will come after the Trope tags.
BA - Bad Animation; No, Naruto vs Pain smears are not examples of this. Bad animation is bad keyframes with no detail or polish, sloppy lines of action, generally inauthentic movement, bland colours or character designs. Generally a massive bore for the eyes.
BCG - Bad CG; Bad CG is everywhere and it hurts to watch. The show doesn't have to be entirely CG, it just has to use a decent amount of it, and it has to suck.
CC - Cookie Cutter; Someone used a leaked script from 10 years ago to make 100% of this anime.
CP0 - Checkpoint 0; A show so unbelievably bad I couldn't even bear to finish the first episode. If I could, I would give a 0 out of 10.
CZ - Cozy; Show with a non-driving plotline that also has a calm atmosphere & episode structure that's actually good. Basically, an exemplary Slice-of-Life.
DC - Don't Care; It's like Tepid (TP) but literally 100% of the time.
DH - Dark Horse; A show that nobody talks about but, despite that, I think is really good.
ED - Good ending.
GA - Good Animation. Literally a feast for the eyes.
GCG - Good CG; For exemplary uses of CG in anime. Again, the show doesn't have to be 100% CG, but as long as it uses CG consistently well throughout, it gets this tag.
GP - Guilty Pleasure; A show that is probably worse than the score given, but for some reason I can't find a reason to lower the score. Usually a sign of a good dark horse anime that's hard to pin down the score.
MM - Momentum; A show that is very hard to put down once started. Development spirals out of control and the show gets continuously better and better.
NMM - No Momentum; The opposite tag of Momentum, it just slooooows down and drives you to quit it. Can be a result of filler arcs, but will mostly be used for shows where there are no filler arcs.
OP - Good opening.
SC - Social Commentary; Generally effective critique on society. Only applicable if social commentary is a main theme and well executed.
SE - Strong Ending;The last episode(s) of the show are noticeably strong.
SO - Strong Opening; The first episode(s) of the show are noticeably strong.
SS - Surpasses Smut; A show that is lewd, but goes far beyond the quality expected from shows with the Hentai tag and is surprisingly good.
TP - Tepid; Hard to maintain interest. A show that has long periods (1hr+) of boring nothingness. Usually reserved for when a Slice-of-Life plays too safe, or a story-driven anime has no new developments for multiple episodes back-to-back.
TTH - Trying too Hard; When your show tries to be deep or artsy but just doesn't work.
WE - Weak Ending; The last episode(s) of the show are noticeably weak.
WO - Weak Opening; The first episode(s) of the show are noticeably weak.
WS - Wholesome; A show that leaves you with warm fuzziness similar to that of receiving attention from a loved one, from start to end.
Miscellaneous;
Tags that aren't really fitting in here.
OSU - osu!; There's music in here that I think I can map.
MAP (X/Y); The music I want to map.
