Arslan Senki (TV)

Historical-like scenery with royalty, a kingdom, a revenge, a betrayal, a life changing day, an adventurous journey and an imminent war? Check. These two series already are way similar and both scream out "Awesome", as them both keep an excelent high quality in story, characters, art and execution all together. Now, let's see what else these have in common, in detail: - Arslan and Yona are both royal prince and princess of their related kingdoms who get overthrown and make our main characters have a very harsh and challanging start at the beginning of their story. They both face dangerous threats that have them escape and forces them on the run for sometime, which makes them start their journey. - Both main characters grew up with their insanely strong bodyguards, Daryun (Arslan Senki) and Hak (Akatsuki no Yona), which are not just that, they deeply respect and care for their protected ones and they are also very important to our Arslan and Yona. - Both Arslan and Yona start off as weak but in time they will learn to fight and will grow stronger in both body and mind. - Artstyle for the character design is stunning and gorgeous in both series, with amazing bright colors and a very good cast of seiyuus which make of both titles extremely enjoyable to watch and listen. - Consequentially to the harsh start, both main characters have their main goal to take back their kingdom (Although Yona is also driven by revenge, opposingly to AS that is the "villain" being the revenge driven) - Along their journey both Arslan and Yona strive to search proper companions and will end up to gather greatly powerful and capable friends - Su-Won (AnY) and Hermes (AS), the main villains, both bloodthirsty and revenge driven, ridicoulusly curious enough, are both blood-related to our main characters (being cousins). - Being both series around kingdoms, political elements will be brought along with strategies and of course, big wars and battles. Only important thing that differs them is that AnY could be perceived as adressed to a female audience mostly (because of the romantic element that grows stronger as the story goes on) as it is a Shojo after all, while AS is rated as Shonen (kinda the opposite type) and might have slightly more fights. Still, if you don't mind that and are just looking for great stories then both won't disappoint you, as i personally think that if you liked one of these you might easily like the other as well!  read more 

Very much like Arslan Senki, Kingdom has a prince become King and take control of a kingdom that is falling apart. Kingdom is set in ancient China before unification where as Arslan is set in middle east and Indian subcontinent. Kingdom has a fair amount of politics, but it is more focused in battle strategy and war. Also unlike Arslan Senki, the protagonist of Kingdom is a loyal friend of the king and his attempt to become the greatest war general that ever lived. Still the King character in kingdom is 2nd most important character and has episodes dedicated solely to him. There are a lot of similarities between the two shows.  read more 

The setting and atmosphere, as well as character design give off very similiar feeling. Both concentrating on the comng-of-age journey of young boys in positions of power/military, as well as medieval wars in the south and east.  

In battle, victory is achieved through impervious strategies and strength in numbers. Regardless of what people may think, results are more significant than the reasons of killing.'Arslan Senki' and 'Madan no Ou to Vanadis' share a comparable characteristic in which battles were waged between different nations. 'Ashlan Senki' lean towards a more traditional approach and the main character's eyes are filled with ignorance and curiosity to explore the outside world. Religion is a factor that sets this series apart and what you believe in does not necessarily mean it is right. 'Madan no Ou to Vanadis' sets logic aside and bring supernatural abilities into the mix. The main character however has a purpose in life and a noble heart to protect the ones he loved dearly. Serving as a chick magnet, one can only envy as to whether such attention is deserved by an individual.  read more 

These are two medieval war stories about politics, heritage, and beliefs. They have believable and distinct characters, most of which go through lots of character development throughout the story. They also both, unfortunately, do not yet have animated endings, as the source material is not finished. However, the journeys that are here are meaningful and enjoyable. Lots of well animated battles that feel impactful, as well as plenty of slice of life moments for contemplation. 

Child princes are exiled from kingdom and travels in the outskirts of civilization with weapons-master, while collecting a party of more friends in an attempt to go back home and solve whatever problem drove them out of their kingdom in the first place. 

Seems to be a very similar premise, where a charismatic, but weak individual gathers up other, stronger or more knowledgeable people to help accomplish their vision and goals that may go against the grain of the current prevailing forces. There are also similarities in that the main character's allies are potentially somewhat manipulative. 

I know. I know they're VERY different stories, but let me guide you to "why you should watch this both shows". Even when Code Geass is somewhat futuristic (with all the mecha stuff) and Arslan Senki have this pseudo-medieval environment, they share some points. First, both are about "regaining the power". Arslan trying to regain his kingdom, Lelouch trying to be the emperor. Both are sons of leaders of some place. But I think, with some decisions, you could say that Arslan is more like Suzaku, and that silver-masked guy is like Lelouch. Of course, they're not the same, but you get what I say, right? On the other hand, I found the OP and ED style a LOT like Code Geass' OP & ED as well. And yeah, they have that "chilhood friends" confrontation when they grow up, but I cannot say more! So, if you enjoyed the estrategy, plot twists and tense situations of Code Geass, you gonna like Arslan Senki as much as I did!  read more 

Both anime follow a prince and are historical. If you enjoyed some of the conflicts that Zen had to deal with in Akagami no Shirayuki-hime then you would enjoy Arslan Senki. Also the art style is similar.  

Adventure shows, with an interesting fantasy twist. The character designs are very similar, and have a more serious tone in both, though FMA:B has a slight comedic feel. 

Both Magi and Arslan have a war centered conflict, though Magi has more supernatural elements, whereas Arsln feels more history rooted. Both worlds seem to take place in a Middle Eastern based universe, though Arslan seems to be based more on the Persian Empire, and even the more ancient Babylonian and Sumerian Empires, while Magi has a more broad universe, with the Kou Empire being based on the Mongol Empire. Both deal with issues such as politics, slavery and the importance and responsability of being a ruler, though Magi is more light in tone and focuses more on the friendship and adventure side, whereas Arslan is a more serious, politics-driven narrative. The main characters in both series are close in age, Arslan is 14 and Alibaba is 17 in the beginning of the series, they are also both princes, having to overcome political issues and intrigues , in order to help their respective countries. If you enjoyed Magi, you should definitely give a chance to Arslan as well. read more 

Based on novels of the same author, the works may be of different genres, meant for different ages, but both focus strongly on planning, strategy and battles, along with governance and politics. Legend of the Galactic Heroes focuses on the questions of autocracy versus democracy, while Arslan Senki tries to examine the qualities of a good king. 

Both are stylistically, thematically, and topically very similar. Both anime use nearly identical art designs and palettes. For example, both use the same, historical old-fashioned, font. Artwork is very similar, and scenes are set in similar backdrops. Both shows are heavily centered around traditional military strategy (for war), and both feature a genius strategist who is a master of war. Both geniuses show more than they tell, consistently proving (through actual battles) their intelligence, creativity, and forethought. Obviously, the main difference between war in these shows is context. While Arslan features a young prince leading a real revolution against warring nations, Alderamin is set in a school setting, where battles are for practice and not fatal (at least not yet). Another difference is that while the (character) art in Alderamin is prettier than Arslan, Arslan aims for a broader scope in terms of larger armies of characters and greater variety in settings. Finally, Arslan is set before gunpowder had reached the middle east and the West, while Alderamin is set a few centuries later in an era of rifles and hot air balloons. read more 

If you like politics and military tatics in your anime these two are for you! -They are both historical dramas set in the middle ages -They both have a huge focus on tatics and politics and have a secondary character who serves to explore these themes (Griffith in Berserk and Narsus in Arslan Senki) -They are both realistic although they have some fantasy elements (Berserk is stronger in this aspect) -They both show a war were the MCs have little chance of winning. Although they are similar Berserk in its final episodes is very fantasy focused with some (greatly designed) demons 

Arslan Senki and One Piece are both incredible stories of a boy who sets out on an amazing adventure in order to become king and gain freedom. Both main protagonists are able to gain many followers as well as strong and loyal nakama to accompany them due there unique personalities. Both anime have a great contrast of humor as well as great seriousness that go well together. To anyone who likes One Piece you will definitely enjoy Arslan Senki the two anime are incredibly different but if 1 appeals to you the other is sure to do the same. 

Both have a prince/princess thrown out of his/her kingdom for a reason and they are protected by their close ones first and then gain some supporters.  

Animes about political and military struggles with lots of intrigues and with the same fantasy atmosphere. 

Both are fantasy shows written by Hiromu Arakawa. The character artwork looks very similar and both shows involve a main character who is out to change the world after witnessing the brutalities that other kingdoms have suffered through wars and other conflicts. 

Both first unwilling rulers with good ambitions. They have lots of help from their retainers. They develop into a ruler. They have lots of intrigue, court plots, and a large world setting. Both fantasy, but Arslan is more historic fantasy.  

Both anime are engaged in war. Both main characters have to fulfill their destiny. Arslan and Ryner Lute have loyal and caring companions to oversee them. Both need to have a justifiable ending that such story should deserve. 

If you appreciated the storytelling of Nuraihyon, a coming of age story where a young man trains and is groomed as a leader, then that is a notable similarity. Additionally, the use of sexuality is not thrown in their for some cheap entertainment. It's also worth noting that Arslan is a series that takes itself a tad more serious. 

- Both about war affairs with different countries - Both about ancient history - Both have a male MC who gets thrown into the front lines with little to no experience - Both become ruler/someone in power In Nobunaga Concerto, a high school boy goes back in time to the Sengoku Era. He has to take the place of Nobunaga, who has switched places with him. He decides that the best option is to follow in the footsteps that Nobunaga would have taken to the present day, and fights to follow the route of the History textbook. In Arslan Senki, the country goes to war with another country and Arslan has to make his maiden battle. read more 

Although is not set in a MMORPG world, Arslan senki is similar on the leadership aspect. They are both about suddenly becoming responsible of a loyal group of people and also learning and discovering more about the world they live in. There is magic, gore and good fights! 

Nezumi and Shion resemble Daryun and Prince Arslan. Their individual personalities, their companionship, and even the way they look, it all seems uncannily similar. The theme of oppression and social inequality is prominent and important for both stories. They both take place in cruel and/or dystopian worlds. Tragic circumstances bring the main characters together to fight for their lives and for a better future..  

Both animes have as base a historical theme with very nice characters and good fights with swords. Also both animes have a good direction and use of the 3D technology for the action scene, making this very epic in several moments, and for the sword swings. 

Both are medieval, but Chain Chronicle: Haecceitas no Hikari have fantasy elements. Arslan is more realistic, have a history baseated in Persian Empire and a hero called Amir Arsalan. 

A member of the royal family of a nearly fallen kingdom fighting for his crown. Both animes have sword combats in a middle eastern athmosphereand the MC have companions that will help him to retake his kingdom. 

The two have a lord or king premise. Where they are "royalty" or leaders. They have good storyline and plot. Both main characters fight with their soldiers. Good balance of action and calm times. Fun to watch as the two kings/princes develop and climb to the top. Making a name for themselves.  

Valkyria Chronicles and Arslan Senki are historical fantasy series where the main character and his comrades try to liberate their homeland from an invading country. Valkyria Chronicles has a stronger focus on military battles, but still has an element of politics. Arslan Senki has a stronger focus on on politics, but builds up toward military battles because the narrative follows the hero's journey. The different settings mean the type of battles are not the same, but the enjoyment is just as good. 

Princess Dhianeila from Heroic Age and Prince Arslan from Arslan Senki have quite some points in common. There are also some story similarities between the 2 series. Both Dhianeila and Arslan are of royal origin. They have some trouble with their family (Arslan more than Dhianeila though). They are slender built, have bright hair and a feminine look (which might be natural for Dhianeila since she is a woman). They are confronted with a powerful enemy power, who threatens their homeland. In the face of danger, they embark on a journey, in order to save their home. Both have great charisma and are very good with words, which helps them to make allies, inspires their comrades and wins even enemies over. If you want to see a kinda messianic hero on a quest to save his/her people, both titles may be for you. read more 

Watching Arslan Senki I found some similarities with SnK, even when they're very different stories. Both start with a teller that explains what's happening or happened in the past. Both have a fantasy place when the story happens, and a fantasy year, and most of the chapters start telling you what date is it. Both have a lot of strategy and on-horse action and battles. Both made me feel the same feeling, maybe because of the landscapes, the music, or the style itself. Battles, blood and people fighting for a best future. So, even if Shingeki is about titans and Arslan is about recovering a kingdom, you might like both just like me.  read more 

Both are war epics with a good cast of characters. Kingdom has much more background material but I cannot recommend the first 2 seasons due to poor animation. I would highly suggest reading the manga instead (but I do know that is a lot to ask for) 

Crest of the Stars and Arslan Senki tell the stories of two royal heirs as they navigate political and military conflicts. Lafiel and Arslan have very different personalities and different journeys. From the beginning, Lafiel (Crest of the Stars) demonstrates competence and leadership. Arslan is the complete opposite as he must learn to become a strong leader and his success comes from having strong supporters. While both series have different genres, people looking for anime that emphasizes politics and war will enjoy them. 

"Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo" and "The Heroic Legend of Arslan" / "Arslan Senki" both involve a young and naïve male protagonist of high birth who lives in his powerful father's shadows. In both these shows, military campaigns are given a relatively heavy focus as the background in order to set the premise. 

The setting for the two is very similar with the old middle eastern kind of feeling to it. There is no magic in Arslan Senki, but it does not change the fact that its plot is worthy of being compared to Magi. Farangis can talk to djinns like in magi. 

Both are focused heavily on military tactics and surviving in less than favorable conditions. Groups of characters that are cast from their home and have to survive/fight in another land. Arslan has more character development, though both are plenty enjoyable if you just want a military action romp. 

Both anime are based in feudal-era-style settings, with a main character that must actively fight in a war. The MC of both anime are also surrounded by competent companions, that could easily be considered overpowered. The companions fight in battles that are carefully planned by a top-tier strategist, and with (well-deserved) loyalty for the MC 

"Sands of Destruction" / "World Destruction: Sekai Bokumetsu no Rokunin" and "The Heroic Legend of Arslan" / "Arslan Senki" are pseudo-medieval fantasy series that focuses on a naïve male protagonist who is inexperienced with the real world. In both these shows, the system of slavery in place forces people who are seen as being of lower birth into harsh labour. 

"Rage of Bahamut: Genesis" / "Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis" and "The Heroic Legend of Arslan" / "Arslan Senki" are pseudo-medieval fantasy series that feature large-scale battles involving countless individuals. In both of these shows, there exists the depiction of a class system in which society respects. 

Big scale war. Lovable characters, some comedy on the side. Excellent animation in battles. Protagonist leads a small but victorious unit into battle. 

Both involve the young protagonist fighting for the original political faction, for Arslan it's Pars and for Ibuki it's for the Revolutionary Army (Originally Nil Kamui) against other invading countries. 

Both stories revolve around war and aren't afraid to show the uglier side of wars.  

"Akame ga Kill!" and "The Heroic Legend of Arslan" / "Arslan Senki" share the premise of a pseudo-medieval fantasy kingdom having underlying societal issues, in which there exists the oppression of foreigners and those of low birth. These two shows both have a focus in action as well as a male protagonist who is far too naïve. 

In both anime series: The main characters (a prince/princess) were betrayed by their own people and the traitors either kill the king and/or take over the kingdom They go on a journey to get stronger and come back to fight and take back their kingdom They enlist the help of strong and powerful warriors The prince/princess have similar traits such as: they are kind hearted, soft and somewhat weaker than the other fighters. The prince/princess have a person that its their right hand and will protect them no matter what.
