If you appreciated the storytelling of Nuraihyon, a coming of age story where a young man trains and is groomed as a leader, then that is a notable similarity. Additionally, the use of sexuality is not thrown in their for some cheap entertainment.
It's also worth noting that Arslan is a series that takes itself a tad more serious.
