Both Magi and Arslan have a war-centered conflict, though Magi has more supernatural elements, whereas Arslan feels more historically-rooted. Both worlds seem to take place in a Middle Eastern-based universe, though Arslan seems to be based more on the Persian Empire, while Magi has a more broad universe, with the Kou Empire being based on the Mongol Empire. Both deal with issues such as politics, slavery and the importance and responsability of being a ruler, though Magi is more light in tone and focuses more on the friendship and adventure side, whereas Arslan is a more serious, politics-driven narrative. The animes have an adventurous feel, and is centered around a very likable group of people. They incorporate government, and military strategies. But in contrast Magi has a comedic feel, and Arslan Senki is more dramatic.

Both stories happen somewhere in the Middle East (Arslan in Iran, while Magi is more related to Saudi Arabia). Both talk about Djins and wars. Although magic is really rare in the world of Arslan... The scenario and the soundtrack is similar too
