This anime deserves more love, It is without a doubt my fav anime, the story is just amazing, the character's development, the soundtracks, the battles everything about this anime is a 10/10, ignore the CGI of the first season and give it a try, you certainly won't be disappointed. I have rewatched it 7 times now, 5 times from 1-4, and 2 more times from 1-5, I LOVE it!! It kinda became a tradition right now, every 6 months or so or when I have some free time I rewatch this and every single time it wakes in me all the emotions I had when I first watched it, I always look forward to rewatching it again. What I want to say is that this anime is a hidden gem, one that you probably never knew existed, you won't regret giving this a try, I promise! In addition, this anime is inspired by real life from the Warring States Period(475-221BC) which makes it even more fascinating, the tactics the duels, the governing, the politics the battles, EVERYTHING about this anime is Amazing. Peace!

remember the first actual fight in the anime? while going towards the Land of Waves? Sasuke kicked 2 guys in a single panned image :)
about TBATE's animation being compared with Dragon Ball from 40 years ago. well, look at Disney or Studio Ghibli. they created perfect sakuga-filled animations since 1937 without any issues, why would Dragon Ball have an excuse 40 years ago? it doesn't. anyway, there was no holy grail of animation discovered, it's still really difficult to animate properly, there's no 10x animators (with maybe a handful of exceptional individuals). the difference is that 40 years later, animation is more mainstream so budgets are generally higher, so animators can go all out more often, yaay. this brings extra enjoyment where that does happen and does not take away any enjoyment out of the animations that don't have that luxury, like TBATE
about Mushoku, Rudy has been a bastard, one of the worst ones, since the first lines of volume 1, from his previous life. would you expect a bastard to be a saint? of course not. that being said, it's a story, and like any other story, it teaches something, and if you see a character doing something you don't like and say "I would never do that", that's still a lesson well learned. another example, the Bible is full of such stories of murder and decay and sin, while the main lesson is love.
