Both are food anime. Yakitate Japan focuses on bread and Shokugeki no Souma focuses in food in general. The great thing about the two are the reactions the ones eating the food get. While Yakitate Japan's are extremely hilarious and comical, Shokugeki's are more ecchi but still amusing at the same time. Both are quite in depth in explaining the process of how the food is prepared and also have cooking type battles.

Both involve child prodigies in the kitchen with exaggerated techniques and high-stake culinary showdowns.

Both shows are about protagonists who dream to become baking chefs due to their influence during childhood. Both protagionists have clumsy personalities but they are talented.

While they seem different on the surface, these two anime have some similar themes.the main characters must undergo several exams, forming bonds in the process in order to achieve their dream.

Both series are similar in story structure and tone. Each portray tales within a unique industry, baking in "Yakitate! Japan" and agriculture in "Moyashimon." Both series' protagonist holds a unique talent that gives the story a fantastical edge; Azuma's solar hands help him bake, and Sawaki can see bacteria and organisms too small for the human eye. Also, both stories play out in a similar charming and quirky manner. They really delve into the details of these characters' crafts. Whether it's creating a new kind of bread, brewing sake, or collecting fermented foods, it is truly entertaining to watch these characters' lives and exuberence for their work.  read more

Mr. Ajikko is the founding father of all cooking-themed anime (in my personal opinion). It has a similar main character’s personality traits. A boy who never gives up.

Both of these anime were produced by Sunrise, both of them frequently break the fourth wall and make excellent use of parodies. Additionally, both anime are surprisingly educational and they're among the most fun anime that I've ever watched!

Shounen adventure anime about a very talented kid protagonist (more so than surrounding adults) and their relentless, single minded quest for something important to them. Lots of hard training, challenges, overcoming challenges, making friends, etc. Set in clear arcs a la classic shounen style. Hunter x Hunter is more serious and focused on the adventuring whereas Yakitate is a comedy. Yakitate is very wordplay heavy and uses lots of reference, so Japanese cultural/linguistic knowledge will definitely help (that said, it aired during the golden age of fansubbing so a lot of thing are explained if you don't get the joke).

Both anime's have one thing in common and that is bread. Pan de Peace shows the characters making bread and so does Yakitate Japan but it's more detailed on the ingredients. Kazuma and Minami are both characters who get excited when it comes to bread. Both anime's bring people together with the love of bread!

Rakugo is a kind of japanese humor performance lol, And they use "clever word plays " Yakitate japan is more slap-stick humor in the sense that they use "clever word play " and word puns. ex.The kittycats cats said to the cat they should stop CATtering and cat' around instead. (Joshiraku ) The kittys cats can't be your average cats!! WHY ?! BECAUSE THEY ARE KITTYCATS . (yakitate japan )

Both series talk about the inner workings of a mundane subject. Baths for TR and bread for YJ. Add a dash of surreal comedy and you have charming series that not only make you laugh but genuinely teach you something new.

Yakitate!! Japan is basically Gurren Lagann with bread instead of mecha. Whereas Gurren Lagann is basically Yakitate!! Japan with mecha instead of bread. And both have Marina Inoue. And both have the same common sense-breaking power up style that makes both of them great.

I know it's kind of a stretch but bear with me. Both of these shows really stylize a profession. Obviously bartenders for Bartender, and Bakers for Yakitate. They also both contain pseudo informational elements. and use alchol/bread to solve various problems So if you happen to watch mature shows like bartender and still watch over the top shounen style shows definitely check this out

Both have the same plot were the main theme is all about food competition, and the main characters have what it takes to make it on top. The difference however was Yakitate Japan is more on pastries...more like pattern after the great Bake Off while Shokugeki No Souma was pattern after Master Chef. Still both have the same level of exaggeration, where both shows the judge having an orgasmic experience after eating the main character's preparation.

Both food battle series. Shokugeki stays more serious, while yakitate focuses more on parody and humor

This anime is also about cooking. One boy is trying to master cooking on his own. Trying to work in all kinda places and learn how to make all kinda breads. All caracters love good food and drinks.

While Yakitate! Japan focuses on the wacky, often exaggerated but nonetheless very fun food-reactions on breads that sends souls to Heavens, makes your eye like an F1-racer, and allows you to change the future; Koufuku Graffiti makes its food-reactions from a supple of moe-glazing art with a help of verbs and adjectives to describe the tastiness of foods.

Bread. Besides bread, both shows actually explore a wide range of cultures, customs, and cuisines more or less rooted in reality. The cultures explored in ACCA are more rooted in fantasy, but are influences by real world locales/time periods; whereas Yakitate Japan explore real cuisine but in a simplified and exaggerated way such that it strays into the realms of fantasy. The plot and style and atmosphere are all very different, but everything is linked together by baked goods, both within the story and between the two shows.

A female version of Yakitate! Both are teenage protagonists who have childhood dreams of cooking or baking, and pursue their careers through cooking contests. They have a balanced share of friends and enemies (or rivals) who seek to stop them, but they overcome their difficulties to bring the best food possible to the world. Equally heartwarming, although Yakitate's humor lies in slapstick humor and funny puns, while Dae Jang Geum's humor is a mixture of great wit, and deus ex machina (situational rescues). Dae Jang Geum is also more action-based, so it's easy to binge watch for the plot, whereas Yakitate's story is dragged out  read more

Ristorante Paradiso gives the same feeling as Yakitate!! Japan. Even though Ristorante Paradiso is more based on elderly men serving women than cooking itself, there are parts where characters try hard to improve their cooking, creating something new, wanting to get better at what they do. It also shows the hardship of becoming a chef. And generally the human relationships, characters' lives and difficulties that come along.

While Bonjour Koiaji Patisserie is about romance and pastries, Yakitate Japan is about comedy and bread. They are both light hearted and food themed animes.

They're both funny shounen anime featuring afros and pandas. They're competetive in nature (though one's Devil's Fruit combat and the other's... bread contests...) and they both have ridiculous but lovable characters. We all know Suwabara wants to be Zoro.

Both are about competition and both are shounen combined with comedy. And Both have the same atmosphere ^^ If u liked Yakitate Japan, then you would probably like Hunter X Hunter~

This may sound as a strange recommendation, because how do a bread anime & a demon butler anime compare?... But the more you go into Kuroshitsuji, the more you notice similarities. Sometimes in characters, but mostly of all, in the sense of humor. For example, the episodes about the Indian people could've came straight out of Yakitate!! Japan and you never would've noticed the difference :-D

Both series deal with a lot of food and it features similar characters. They both feature battles, which in Toriko are actually battles using supernatural attacks and martial arts, while Yakitate!! Japan actually battles through the art of cooking.

Both are very funny animes the one thing that reminds me one of the other is that they keep sayin the same line "WHAT IS THAT!!" Both of these shows are full of surprises and great to watch...

These two gave a strangely similar feeling to it. Other than the similarities in animation style, both are out and out comedies, taking a rather boring topic (namely, Go and Bread respectively) and turning it into an entirely entertaining world. Both work together in their respective teams in competitions, and both leads are natural born geniuses (Maybe not Hikaru, entirely, since he has some "help" at first).
report Recommended by HalRyder
Both are bakery anime. although antique bakery pays more attention to desserts and Yakitate Japan pays more attention to bread. Also the genre is a little off. Yakitate is all about side splitting laughs, and antique bakery is more of a serious (?) bishounen drama :( only check out antique bakery if you don't mind bishounen.

Bread Science, Black Humor, Political satire and Time travel put in a comedic medium.

Both involve activities (mahjong, baking bread and pastries) that a lot of people might consider mundane. Both manage to make the activities exciting through exaggerated movements, bombastic reactions, and hints of the supernatural. Competitors in the tournaments are actually fleshed-out characters that can be sympathetic and are not just rivals of the week. Saki can be a lot harder to follow if you aren't already familiar with the rules of Japanese mahjong, even with translator's notes. Yakitate!! Japan seems to be easier to understand. And, of course, Yakitate!! has a greater focus on humor and punnery.

If the incredible over-the-top style and exaggerated comedy is your thing, you should check out these two.

Epic and hilarious shounen animes centered around tournaments and competition. Rivalry, wacky characters, and lots of comedy in both, plus the matches are often very dramatic.
report Recommended by Bocknoi
Both series revolve around people who were formerly clowns. In Hatenkou Yuugi, the character is Baroqueheat. Likewise, Pierrot is the character in Yakitate Japan.
