Both are shoujo romance anime with similar settings: a group of friends trying to help a boy overcome his past and to help him enjoy his present time with them.

A teenage romance series with a similar style and vibe yet plots different enough to warrant watching both.

- Both are shoujo high school romcoms. - Both have female characters who falls for the egoistical MC and have to work hard to prove their love for them, and to earn it back. - Both male characters have a twisted personality but that's because of their twisted past. - Both female characters befriend girls who aren't actually their friends. It's just a convenient give-and-take type of relationship. - The female characters realize their bad habits and work hard to change themselves. While Ao Haru Ride is more of a SOL, Ookami Shoujo leans to a comedic side. Still, both of these are entertaining shows. Considering the similarities, fan  read more

Lighthearted romantic comedies. Tonari-no Kaibutsu-kun and Ao Haru Ride explores the relationship of two main characters with contrasting personalities. The main male protagonist from both series has similar personalities and often plays practical jokes on others. Their relationship with the main female protagonist develops through circumstances. Their perspective stories also include other characters that raise drama and misunderstandings. I recommend both series for anyone seeking a romantic comedy with a lighthearted atmosphere.

Both are about romance, friendship, teenage years, and both really enjoyable anime.

When it comes to connections, Bokura ga Ita and Ao Haru Ride build on that with their characters. The main male and female protagonist build their relationship through interactions. Throughout both series' progressive stories, they face with memories of the past. The main male protagonist from both series has a similar personality as well. Yet deep down, they do value the people around them. As a romance/shoujo, expect relationship angles and drama to ensure. Recommended for people interested in shoujo with elegance.

-both have romance and comedy -the male protagonist always helps the heroine -and the most important, no matter what happens they will always love the heroine

Itazura na Kiss and Ao Haru Ride shares a variety of similarities when it comes to shoujo standards. The main male protagonist both have a cold personality but does deep down care for the girl close to them. This is especially true during occasions when they are in trouble and he comes to help when needed the most. Throughout both series, obvious attraction is shown between the duo. There are certain obstacles that also get in the way of the main duo such as love rivals. Both series also exhibits realism when it comes to relationship dynamics with focus on development. I recommend both series  read more

Both shows have a similar settings. Both shows have characters that battles through inner struggles with their past thus developing their characters. Although Ao Haru Ride has slightly less melodrama than Toradora, both are a good experience.

- both stories are about teenage romance where the MC is waiting foe the love of her life - they are both done by the same mangaka so if you enjoyed one you are more likely to enjoy the other - both are romance/school/ drama - the characters personalities are quite similar

Similarities: Both anime focus on high school romance and the challenges of communication and understanding between characters. They explore themes of friendship, love, and personal identity.

Pastel colors and similar romance drama vibes. They both feature very enjoyable romance plots, comedy, drama, and well written and relatable characters. They don't necessarily break new ground, but what they do they do well. If you enjoyed one and are looking for a romance with a similar feel, try the other.

Futaba(Ao Haru Ride) & Sorata(Sakurasou) is same. Both character want to become better person in future without being burdened by the past or present. This topic become main theme in Sakurasou but not in Ao Haru Ride. Both anime also featuring love interest between character.

Both stories are themed about first love. The romantic vibe is the same as one another. Both MCs liked one another.

Even if one is a Shoujo and the other is sort of like a Seinen, the two share many similarities. They both revolve around troubled teenagers and their difficulty making friends. They both tap into questioning how they should deal with their social lives. To sacrifice their own values just to make friends or not? To be honest to themselves and other people or to sacrifice that just to avoid being excluded from the group? Yahari goes a little deeper though. The male main characters are also both very pessimistic. The upbeat female main characters are also both..well..upbeat.

Different premises but both series adapts a shoujo manga involving lives of two main characters. They get off to a rocky start in the beginning but their relationship gradually develops over time. Love triangle should be expected along with other characters that gets involved in the story that affects their relationship. Both series has a lighthearted mood although there are moments when emotions takes hold. Recommended for fans of rom-com.

Both animes have romance in it and they are also past on school years. "Ore Monogatari" has more comedy but they are both really enjoyable, and they have a good animation wich is a thing that I think is really important when it comes to enjoy the anime even more. The story´s are diferent and I would say that "Ao Haru Ride" has a more complex story since it´s also tagged with the genre slice of life and "Ore Monogatari" is not. The main male character of "Ao Haru Ride" gives you the same kind of feeling that male main Makoto Sunakawa from "Ore Monogatari" gives to you.

This is another anime with the same feel of romance, and a little comedy, but with a bit of edge to keep you watching as the plot develops. The animation style is less real, more animated, but still enjoyable to watch, a little more fun than AHR, but both worth watching in their own right, really recommend.

Both are centerd around a couple in high school. Both couples have this unspoken understanding and distance between them, so you end up rooting for them the entire time. Also, both males have a tragic background. Itsudatte Bokura no Koi wa 10 cm Datta is shorter and a nice watch when you want to see a cute little romance. Also, Ao Hadu Ride left me a bit frustrated; it was not this way with Itsudatte.

Those series have many similarities, both are about: - high school students - romance and friendship - unpredictable relationship between main characters Also you can found here similar type of humour and slice of life elements.

Both have the same romantic chemistry and vibe and in one of the episodes, the male MC and the female MC of Ao Haru Ride has the similar scene on what Yuuta did to Rikka (karate chop). Both Rikka and Futaba are very romantic girls whom they admire their strong feelings for the male MCs (Yuuta/Kou) and cry dramatically for their love towards them. Both also have a background past in middle school. Both Rikka and Futaba are interesting characters to love and admire and both anime are great romance anime to watch.

Both stories tell us about the reunion of two people, who after some time will seek to settle their conflicts of the past with the goal of becoming friends and being able to remove the remorse from above.

the refreshing vibe is similar. relationship after Anna realises her feelings for Natsuki reminds me of Futaba's emotions for Kou!

The story is identical. The best romantic atmosphere out there. The girl and boy MCs like each other but separated by distance.

I think that Tamako Market (and the movie sequel "Tamako Love Story") are super cute and heartwarming just like Ao Haru Ride. These are really good if you love light-hearted romances without any major villains that terrorise the world and such but you enjoy watching two characters fall in love. For both series (more so the movie than the series), you kind of just chant for the main couple to get together.
report Recommended by Beauty4theBeast
I just love this series. It's super funny, literally the pique of comedy. And it has the cutest romance like Ao Haru ride does. They have similar aspects like school romance, struggling to tell one another's feelings for one another and the best side characters too!
report Recommended by Beauty4theBeast
Both are romance comedy anime with not so similar plot. But the way the main characters relations with the girl the heartwarming moments are exactly similar It doesnt start directly with too much romance but the pace is amazing the way the relationships are built up are great

- Both MC loved by girl - Both MC often feel pessimistic - Both MC have bitter past - Both MC have parents incomplete - Both MC really respect women

Two people who once had feelings for one another had a break and are forced together again. They attempt to remove their lingering feelings due to having to leave their old memories in the past, however, these emotions show through when they experience slightly intimate moments together and still wish to return to those youthful times.

I just like to put it in my recommendation cant explain that much its just amazing / good anime itself

The mc also learned how to be happy again.

Both are romance anime. There are bunch of heartwarming moments which is enough to make your heart melt away. But both of them are a bit rushed specially Ao Haru Ride. But Relife is quite good despite it being rushed.
report Recommended by OtAkU_TaBiB
Both have a beautiful story where the female MC tries to lovingly reach out to her lover, who has not yet assumed love for her. Although the characters in Ao Haru Ride are older, and as a result, the anime has a slightly more mature style, it provides the same fun.
report Recommended by Scizooor
- main couple and setting give me the same vibe (high school setting, friendship & romance) - in both the characters have some kind of mystery they want to solve
report Recommended by _Soph_
-Both have a similar art style -Both anime have an opening made by honeyworks -Ao haru ride is more on the romance side and Otome-domo leans more toward the sexual side
report Recommended by Cinnakina
Although Ao Haru Ride is not supernatural, there are similarities. Such as: Both main characters get closer in each episode. Boy MC cares for the girl MC in their own way. Girls personalities are quite similar. Cute moments :3
report Recommended by Dalolly
There is a romantic connection between the two main protagonist, but along the story they have yet to realize they are meant for each other because of trials, love triangles, and as friendship becomes a problem. There is a bit of drama, romance, and slice of life in both of these animes, with ao haru ride having some comedy moments.
report Recommended by Onigiri-tea
Both anime are similar in the way that they focus less on romance and more on the slice of life aspect; also both female leads play the hero in their respective anime rather than the male lead.

+ High school love story + MC have connection in past with his/her love interest. Unfortunately, she/he forget or doesn't want to remember about that feeling.
report Recommended by SSSS_Shunaria
Highschool romance anime with no Supernatural, Fantasy, or Sci Fi at all. It's just another lovely and relaxing story of teenagers going through puberty with all kinds his problems.
report Recommended by SSSS_Shunaria
These are both animes in which characters go through a drastic amount of self-discovery and realization. Ultimately, the characters use this to their advantage by overcoming person vs. person and person vs. self conflicts. If you liked the way the characters learned more about themselves throughout Kokoro Connect and the way they matured and grew as individuals, you will definitely enjoy Ao Haru Ride. In addition, both animes involve some degree of romance. If you liked the competition between Nagase and Inaba that blossomed during the later episodes of the anime, you will surely enjoy Ao Haru Ride, as similar events such as this take  read more

These two anime are very similar for their biggest main difference. While the main character from Kareshi is hiding behind a facade of perfection, the protagonist in Ao Haru Ride is avoiding persecution from her fellow female classmates by acting in ways that she thinks her male classmates will find unattractive. Alas, potential love interests enter their lives, and become well aware of the girls' false pretenses.

I don't usually make recommendations at all but imma do it for this cause its TOO AMAZING and I just had to share it! Interesting facts are they both: 1. Are Romance Shoujo anime 2. Have Male main char that have real COLD and mischievous personality but are actually kind at heart - just shy to show 3. Have Female main char that somewhat looks 90% alike and have bubbly, positive personality to MELT the COLD ICE <3 4. Have Triangle love that will make u go crazy! 5. Simply amazing love story that will tug your heart!
report Recommended by Misf0rtune
The aura, year and the fell might be a little different but I can actually say that they both revolve around love stories about unrequited love, reunited love and new love. I believe that you will enjoy both of their stories and characters. While, Nana is a bit matured than Ao Haru Ride but even so, you will love them both.

Main characters were in love and confessed but, due to a misunderstanding, they couldn't stay together.
report Recommended by Kttyxkat3
Both have a distinct artstyle which feels like something painted in watercolor. Honey and Clover is more of SoL and has a larger cast but both have great romance which I think you'll enjoy.
report Recommended by Radiene
Fair rivalry between friends (Ao Haru Ride - Futaba & Yuri, Shakugan no Shana - Shana & Kazumi) but the Ao Haru Ride doesn't have a fantasy genre. Both has a long romance story before the awaited ending.
report Recommended by Chento
Both have strong themes about family only that Ao Haru Ride adds a love triangle for extra spice. Both will make you take out the tissue box.
report Recommended by highpriest2500
There is the love triangle and only one girl gets the guy. White Album 2 deals with the love triangle in a more mature manner while Ao Haru Ride follows the typical love triangle story line.

Both shows are about the high school life and the friends you make along the way. Both shows are beautiful, but have a different art style. Clannad has a lot of comedy, but when there's drama, it's great drama.

Both main girls are an only child, and both main guys hide their pain and show no emotion on the outside.

Both anime are romance stories of a main character falling in love with someone who had an unpleasant past causing them to reject the love initially. Theses to anime are so strikingly similar that if you reverse the roles of the main characters the story will be the exact same think. In Suzuka the main character is a boy whereas in Ao Haru Ride the main character is a girl but both character's love interest is that of a person who has a sad past. Then there is the typical complex romance system in between. If you got butterflies in your stomach watching one,  read more
