Both shows have a similar settings. Both shows have characters that battles through inner struggles with their past thus developing their characters. Although Ao Haru Ride has slightly less melodrama than Toradora, both are a good experience.
I just found the general atmosphere of these two anime similar, not to mention both are very deep and thought-out high school setting anime. These two anime don't share that much similarities, despte both being romance anime set in high school, but I think that if you have watched Ao Haru Ride you will also enjoy ToraDora!
This anime has a similar romantic-comedy vibe, with plenty of funny moments and heartwarming scenes.
