It's similar with saving Earth along with mechas..

Both set in space with plenty of space battles. They are set around a "race" seeking recognition of their existence in the universe. Both revolve around themes of xenophobia, acceptance, existence and return to the homeland.

Both are space opera anime by XEBEC about humanity resisting a larger empire, featuring grand/ancient civilisations, immense weapons/powers, and focusing on one spaceship. In Heroic Age, the imperialist Tribe of Silver are at war with a younger civilization, humans (the Tribe of Iron). They have conquered Earth and compete with the Tribe of Iron to be successors of the ancient Tribe of Gold. The anime focuses on the spaceship Argo (equipped with a large cannon) and humanity's saviour Age, who is able to transform into a powerful giant called Belcross. In Space Battleship Yamato 2199, the Gamilan Empire have bombed Earth, pushing humans to the brink of  read more

Both anime are set in deep space and feature a lot of fights between humans and an alien race, human using mechas and aliens being insectoids.

Both have human race near extinction and depending on one hero with hidden ability

Both are adventure stories, with an equal share of action and romance aswell. They also both weave elements of ancient mythology into their settings and stories. The main female characters are also similar, both possesing mental powers above others. Mecha are both portrayed in a more original way, than what you would normally see.

Genre: Space, Sci-fi, mecha, drama The character designs are made by the same artist and are similar. The stories involve humanity being severely outgunned and threatened with extinction by a fearsome alien force. The motivations for the aliens' desire to fight humanity are both interesting and extend beyond simple "evil empire wants to conquer you" plots. The aliens also look very similar. There is a focus on main characters that aren't seen as the typical heroes and aren't well-understood or appreciated by their comrades. As the stories progress, things change and the main characters prove themselves to be more reliable and capable than previously thought.

Although set in different times, both are action packed and have very similar "monster" design (sorry don't know how to put it any other way)

space fight for the survival of the human kind...

Both have a similar style and a a decent story underneath all the action. Aquarion you have a love story along with trying to save humanity. Heroic age is also a good series where the characters are trying to save the human race, all while trying to understand the main character. I highly recommend both....

Both anime are military SF, with large scale interplanetary war, with action set mostly in space.

Both stories tell of an adventure involving science fiction and discovery. It details mankind's existence in their perspective worlds and in the galaxy. As such, expect science fictional battles involving mecha and other vehicles of war. There is a clash of races between humanity and its adversaries. They also focus on world building landmarks. The main male protagonist from both series are quite mysterious with strange origins. Mostly, they focus on what they discover throughout both series as they encounter allies and enemies.

Pretty much same kind of plot with a political war going to between humans and advanced humans.

- The design of the two main characters, Age and Mikazuki, is pretty similar; - Destined soldiers following their princes in battle.

Action Transformation. Lonelynis and finds friends after. Fight for his friends.

Both involve battles in space/land with high tech equipments They both have basically 2 sides that is going against each-other and in both they have the protagonist be the winning chance to beat the "Dominant" side. In heroic age, the main character has the ability to transform into something called the 'nodus' which is basically a giant armored fighting beast. While in Tytania the mc uses Strategy and tactics If you enjoy space battles and the weak beating the strong with the help of the protagonist you will enjoy both of these anime's.

Both protagonists are thrown to middle of a war between coutries/tribes, and they became their saviors. Heroic Age is best imho ;)

Both anime have multiple battles in space, in Heroic Age the numbers are far bigger and thus the battles longer. Also everything is done in order to save earth.

In both shows both civilizations are on the brink of extinction and is aided by the main character who has abilities that they don't. Both main characters are called "The Last Hope for Humanity" or "Humanities Last Hope".
report Recommended by WORSIN
Both shows have a civilization who have given up their emotions to a single person/being.

Both take place in universes where humanity is a fairly recent addition to the galactic community, and is looked down upon by other races. In both entries, the human characters are fighting against an insurmountable alien force that is hunting them down. Some of the side characters' abilities in Heroic Age are similar to the Biotics in ME as well, although I recommend playing the games in full if you enjoyed Heroic Age rather than just watching the movie, as there are further similarities in plot and world elements that aren't really touched upon in Paragon Lost.

Both have mecha both protagist's fathers were great, Heroic Age is more parents both have groups that want to destroy humanity, then later, part of that group joins the "good" side at one point, the main char goes on a rampage without thinking both have weird alien-like things both mentions earth but dont live on earth and the music is similar

Princess Dhianeila from Heroic Age and Prince Arslan from Arslan Senki have quite some points in common. There are also some story similarities between the 2 series. Both Dhianeila and Arslan are of royal origin. They have some trouble with their family (Arslan more than Dhianeila though). They are slender built, have bright hair and a feminine look (which might be natural for Dhianeila since she is a woman). They are confronted with a powerful enemy power, who threatens their homeland. In the face of danger, they embark on a journey, in order to save their home. Both have great charisma and are very good with  read more

Swarms of bugs, mecha, powers. Both have great graphics

Both by the same studio and feature an opening theme by Angela. Both are shows featuring a combination of mechas and creatures. Both are on the losing end of a war with futuristic technology. Fafner is the more serious of the two with a much sadder storyline although you can emphathise with Age more in Heroic Age.
report Recommended by AzureJahk
Both involve human's battle for survival vs. space monsters. (although the humans in HA don't battle exclusively with space monsters) In both series, the key to victory lies in the hands of a super being/robot. Both feature battles on an epic scale. however, Heroic Age is a more action driven anime, where Top wo Nerae is more of a character driven drama.

They are very similar but not in a way you'd expect at first. The more obvious comparison is that both are sci-fi and upbeat.

Much like the Gold Tribe before them, the Forerunners saw the Humans, in this series, called "Reclaimers" as the true heirs to their technology, just as the Golds left to the Iron Tribe their legacy. Each series also features a highly advanced enemy civilization who has been studying/worships these ancient beings, seeks to find them, and claim their knowledge, and is upset at the fact that human beings possess something that they dont, for which there is war and fighting. Also each human faction has thier own savior, for the Iron tribe it is Age, and for the Humans/Reclaimers, theirs is the Spartans, specifically Master  read more

The major similarity between the two anime are their storylines, which are both based on destiny. The focus of each is to depict how the characters play into their fate. Minor similarities include warfare in space (which is more in Heroic Age) and a healthy depiction of the protagonist and his interaction with other people. Both have similar rates of plot revelation. The key difference in their depictions is that Heroic Age almost fixates on action and warfare, whereas RahXephon takes you through complex inter- and intra- character social relationships. The roles of characters are different in the two anime. You would not have to worry about knowing what's  read more

Both have great space battles.

Both stories are driven by the prophecy of a boy/girl who holds the key to save mankind while fighting against very powerful enemies. The 3D visuals and soundtrack for both series are great, with lots of fights between space/aerial battleships.

Both anime are produced by the same studio with stories that explore the challenges humanity faces when it realizes how dangerous space can be despite the ambitions.

Main characters are alike. They both have some great power that only a few people posses, and they fight against own kind. The whole anime gives off a same fealing while watching.
