In Heroic Age, the imperialist Tribe of Silver are at war with a younger civilization, humans (the Tribe of Iron). They have conquered Earth and compete with the Tribe of Iron to be successors of the ancient Tribe of Gold. The anime focuses on the spaceship Argo (equipped with a large cannon) and humanity's saviour Age, who is able to transform into a powerful giant called Belcross.

Yamato and Heroic age are obviously inspired in each other.
Both are space related anime.
Difference is that heroic age has ''heores'', people in both the series are trying to save earth by seeking help from some ''noble'' aliens.
Space Battleship Yamato 2199 has more romance, better characters, better storyline. I found it much better than heroic age, u will be hooked from 1st episode.
Both are deep space series in which a group of humans has set out in search of a way to fight back against an overwhelming force of alien enemies, with great animation and music.
