Focus on a sick hunger of human flesh. The main male character undergoes torture and he suffer a lot both physically and mentally.

Both are excellent shows that incorporate several main themes such as butteflies and the human condition with maturity behind a deceptive outer appearance.

Both of these anime are about young people that are suddently infected by human-consuming parasites/viruses. Both anime involve quite a bit of blood shed, questions arising concerning the protagonist's human-status, and some of the strangest characters you will ever see in anime. So, if you liked one, try the other.

Both are insanely terrible "thriller" shows, in a way that it may be watched as comedy and provide much entertainment while watching with friends, only Pupa is more brutal. Be careful and watch with caution :)

These are both shows that think excessive gore is equals horror. Both these show are condensed versions of their source material that rush and compress the material into something that is really unsatisfying to watch. The plots are quite different with Corpse Party being about a group of students trying to unravel a curse and Pupa is about a girl that turns into a monster that eats her brother so she doesn't murder other people. Corpse Party has a little bit of a plot even in it is compressed. Pupa skips around to the point of incoherency. Pretty much if you're just looking for violent  read more

Odd, short horror anime with hinted sibling relationship (just a very small amount in Corpse Party and much more obvious in Pupa)

These two... things, are the worst of their kind. If every anime produced is a new "birth" by the industry, these two are abortions. Pupa is the worst TV anime. Skelter+Heaven is the worst OVA anime. They're so bad you'll either have suicidal thoughts or homicidal thoughts towards the producers. They're both extremely short, so the only reason you should watch these two is to get to know by first-hand experience what defines a ridiculously bad anime. If you hated one, you'll hate the other.

Both interesting animes that makes you go WTF at different times
report Recommended by FacesReality
They both pretty gruesome in the blood department. And although Pupa is only 4 minute episodes, they are in no way lacking any drama, excitement and pure brutality.

In both shows the main character discovers he's immortal and has to flee or else they'd become the subject of some cruel experiments. I recommend it one way because Pupa's plot doesn't make sense, while Ajin's storyline is coherent and engaging. so if you liked Pupa go ahead and give Ajin a try.

Both these anime are gory, with a strong sibling relationship between the main characters. Characters want to study and know more about the creatures the other characters can turn into.

Both of these anime have similar themes, such as survival, turning into a monster or canibalism. Another simmilarity is the bizarre and almost random structure of the plot, which is because of lack of loyalty to the source material. Also both anime are very bloody, but most of the graphic gore is censored, for better or for worse.

These two anime have a similar outward appearance to them: both feature nature and bugs as sort of an underlying theme behind the 'plot', both have big-eyed teenagers with mixed feelings towards each other and both have gory scenes. If you enjoy looking at bugs and blood, then this is your type of show.

Both revolve heavily around cannibalism, and both feature a relationship that is challenged by the circumstances around them. The differences are that Pupa has terrible artwork without an excuse (aside from it being a DEEN work), whereas Kemonozume has bad artwork with an excuse (it's a Yuasa anime), and Pupa is awful, whereas Kemonozume is great.

If you want a lot of gore and and convoluted plot these are both great choices. The protagonists are written in a way that it's hard to like them which isn't so much of a flaw as it is a style. You might not be able to follow the story of either very easily, but piecing it together is what the creators wanted you to do.

Both Pupa and Bio Hunter deal with a deadly virus that turns the main protagonist into a monstrous creature. The main protagonist in both anime kills people without being able to control themselves while trying to maintain a human form. Both anime are horror action-packed anime filled with violence, blood, and gore. The biggest difference between the two anime is that Bio Hunter has no incest. Not to mention Bio Hunter has better animation and execution. If you like one, you should probably like the other.

The main characters in both shows are infected by a virus. This virus makes people want to consume humans. One of the main characters has a person who supplies them with food. Both anime have symbolism involving red butterflies.
report Recommended by 64BitRatchet
Both focus on a young cast and them being placed in very dangerous situations with a supernatural twist to them as well as a dark conspiracy behind the situation they are in as well too.
report Recommended by Disapeared_Ghost
Both shows are gory and have sexual moments. Recommended conditionally, as Pupa was very rushed in production.

Both are so bad that they are good.

They're both terrible and short animes, so if you want to sit and laugh at two bad animes (especially Vampire Holmes), then go ahead.

Pupa has the ridiculousness of Henkei Shoujo, but with zero self-awareness. Different tone, age rating, but the same hysterical laughter and short length. Heavily rewatchable, good for drinking games with friends.

I honestly found the Gregory Horror Show very scary. Maybe Pupa is something like it.

It has the same atmosphere. Both envolve monsters and are somewhat sexual.
report Recommended by Petrafied
The main female character is a sweet girl that is also a bloodthirsty powerful ugly monster. The girl can transform herself when she go out from control.
report Recommended by Disillusion
both are about an innocent human that transforms into a monster and kills people without being able to control themselves. both are very gory and disturbing, but one of the main differences is that urotsukidoji contains graphic scenes of rape, while pupa doesn't.
report Recommended by King2000
Both anime are about two orphan siblings with an odd, incestuous, relationship, both setting records for number of times a character says, "Onii-chan" in a single episode.

What does it mean to have a sibling you can count on? Someone you can share your darkest secrets with? Someone who accepts everything about you, no matter how taboo? Well both Pupa and OreImo answer these questions in their own ways. Despite the stories being different, the theme of sibling bonding, the importance of family, and accepting those you love for who they are are the driving forces behind both.

Both anime deal with main protagonist having romantic feelings for a powerful creature. Both Kimera and Pupa are very grotesque and contains violence, blood and gore. However Kimera has no incest. If you like one, you will enjoy the other.

Girl changing into creature; bloody, rather obscure

Shinsekai Yori has all the same elements of Pupa, but, unlike Pupa, it's actually good. It's got mystery, drama, and even some blood. It's literally a better version of Pupa, so if you liked Pupa then you're gonna give Shinsekai Yori a 15/10.

Bright colours, surrealism in art, transformation into horroric monsters... But Madoka makes much more sense.
report Recommended by Laora-inn
Both are psychological and horror, contain hidden plot twists that become apparent over time, and have gruesome scenes (although there are more in Pupa). Both main guys are involved in something (larger), and both contain death.
report Recommended by celumie
- both are gruesome - both have horrific scenes - both are psychological - both appear to have a deep story line - both are sadistic - both have a lot of blood and gore - both have male and female lead - both are dark - in both blood is a important aspect

What could've been. If you want to see how you fail an anime adaption then watch these two anime. Granted I've never read Pupa but I have heard that the anime mixes up events in the manga making it incomprehensible. In Litchi DE Club's case, they turned one of the best manga ever, which was filled with psychological and horror, into your typical mediocrity comedic shorts anime. It would've been better for the world if these two anime never existed.
