Both series involve witches from their own magic realm going to the human world, both Aya from Ultramaniac and Chocolat from Sugar Sugar Rune are on some sort of trial to become queen of their realm. Episodes tend to be more episodic with lots of sweet moments, a bit of growing up, and a bit of romance and enough plot or mystery to tie it together and keep up the interest. In the though, I found Sugar Sugar Rune to have a more complex story, better romance, more memorable characters and more inventive witch realm. If you enjoy one of these series, I highly expect  read more

These titles are both long running series with primary themes of magic and romance. Following the antics of two young witches living in the human world, Sugar Sugar Rune is perfect for people looking to relive the comedy and mystery of Cardcaptor Sakura. The series is suitable for younger audiences, so don't expect much of a complicated plot. However, each episode brings with it a heart-warming moral and the protagonists, Chocolat and Vanilla, are incredibly endearing characters.

In both of these series; the main character(s) attempt to have other characters fall in love with them in order to fulfill their mission.

In my opinion the two animes have a similar feel. The story is a little bit different, but if you enjoyed Little Witch Academy, then you will like Sugar Sugar Rune. Both are animes about witches and magic, also the main characters have similar personalities. Totally recommended.

princess tutu and Sugar sugar rune are both fun magical girl animes, in each anime the heroine must be courageous to help the person they love, the two main love interests are both boys who are very popular, a little cold, and the heroine helps get stuff in order to turn the love interest back to normal.

Both these anime has a main character that are strong willed and fights for justice. Chocolat and Ran both have some of a forceful personality and are outgoing. Their difference is that Sugar Sugar Rune is more about romance and a contest, meanwhile Super Gals! is focused on Ran's everyday life and how she is a "the number 1 gal." (If you watch one anime and loved it, then you love the other one too!)

Both have competing magical girls who are close friends, and both have stories that start off quite relaxed but eventually become heavier and more intense as they near their ends.

I'm surprised this recommendation hasn't been made yet, but alas. The basic thing that makes these anime so alike is the fact that they're both magical girl Anime(Or movie in Little Witch's case) about witches. Although I won't say it's the same, it does resemble each other, as well as it has dissimilarities with each other. For example: (Similarity) - The main female character isn't popular at her school. (Dissimilarity) - Sugar Sugar rune takes place on a school that is meant for humans, while Little witch does take place on a school for witches.

Shocking that nobody made this recommendation! It's amazing how well both of these animes are done~!

Two guys or girls taking place in a competition. Same vibe.

the both can use magic, and the main character also has a best friend who wanted to love the main characters boyfriend ( not boyfriend actually. It more like a enemy who the main character is in love with).

Gives off the same feeling: Friendship; a hot guy the main character likes; magic; love and magic...great anime

Both have two girls who are best friends that have a mission in which they use powers to do things. In both there is a little romance, some comedy, and magic. Also, they both have the perfect character in the story turn to the dark side in the later episodes.

In both series you can see the love and power of friendship, and how friends are willing to risk their lives to save each other. Sugar Sugar Rune is a bit less dark, and more fun and cute, but it does have an equally deep story, in my opinion. Sugar Sugar Rune also has really great animation, as it has it's own magical world, you see creative backgrounds and characters. Plus you will also love the main girl, Chocolat ^^

Majokko Megu-chan has the same motive as Sugar Sugar Rune. Two witches in contest to become the new Queen of Magic Kingdom, sent to earth. Even the witches medallions have the same shape pink heart & golden diamond.

They both have the same magical witches... one shy and another a little bit aggressive... though you may see that it's a little mix-match with for both animes...there's also a single guy seeming to be the prince charming of one of the heroine and of course ... the "go to the earthly world of the mortals to learn a thing or two as your training to become strong witches" kinda plot... ^_^

Magic, witches, and random! Both very colorful series, but Mahou Tsukai Tai is oriented towards a slightly older audience.

It''s both about magical girls and also with romance. if u like one u'll like the other as well, I'm sure!

Well, I suppose you could say Sugar Sugar Rune is pretty much about two magical girls hiding the fact that they are witch otaku. Okay, okay...wait, no, so they're real witches. But aside from that almost every magical character from Sugar Sugar Rune wears brilliant outfits that generally remind me of Kuranosuke's style from Kuragehime. Oh yeah! Last but not least, both shows are very cute, colorful, funny, and lovable; although, one obviously belongs to the magical girl genre and the other does not.

Sugar Sugar Rune is about two best friends, Chocolat Meilleure and Vanilla Mieux, who are young witches from the Magical World. They are chosen to compete in a contest to see who can collect the most hearts from human boys. What makes thier story similiar to miracle girls is the simple fact its about two girls with powers though Miracle girls have Esp and are sisters not witches.

Both are about young girls with a magical like quality. Same type of show really.

Both are vibrant, colorful, girly anime series with witches as magical girls. The difference between them is the Ojamajo witches are from the human world and Sugar Rune witches are not from the human world. Sugar Rune only ran for one season and DoReMi has a total of 4 seasons (I also recommend checking out DoReMi's other 3 seasons!).

Puchi Puri Yuushi/Petite Princess Yucie and Sugar Sugar Rune Similarities: -Both have a spunky heroine -Involve magic, and fantasy elements like unicorns, dragons and fairies -Both about young girls wanting to become royalty, with tests and tasks against other girls (Yucie is actually 17.. but looks like a 10 year old so this is a little different) -Friends are close and rivals -In both the characters have to collect magic items to become Princess/Queen, in Yucie they collect fragments of a magical tiara and in Sugar Sugar Rune they collect crystal hearts -Romance Overall they are both cute shows with similar elements, if you like one you will probably like the other.  read more
