Choujigen Game Neptune The Animation

Oh God, these two anime series are just too adorable. Well in general terms, it is made of a dominant female cast or more precisely cute girls. Otherwise, K-On! does feature more of a slice of life outlook at a school life setting while Choujigen Game Neptune: The Animation is more of the fantasy genre. Regardless though, both series are adorable. The tea parties, the solid voice acting, the lighthearted backgrounds, the reoccurring humor, the interactions between the main characters...it's all there.  

The premise of bring about peace and serenity through friendships and mischievous quirks is achieved through a formulaic yet dynamic sequence of 'cute girls doing cute things.' Although unrealistic, it is unanimous that the connections between several characters are visible and delectably so. Neptune sways the group with her clumsy spirit and thirst for adventure, much like Yui's obsession with tea, and sometimes cake too. Azunyan, a reincarnated, and objectively better version of Noire, is the charitable leader whose charisma may, in the very literal sense, misguide young men into a seduced stage of hypnotism, of entrapment, where their mind and soul is swirling in an endless quagmire of having to choose between two young maidens of the same occupation and, well, same mediocrity. read more 

Based on a video game. RPG-esq adventure. The main cast set off to find the source of the world's problem. Cute girls and magical transformation too.  

Both are fantasy series with girl protagonists that transform and have powers. Both contain fairies to some extent. They share the same general theme, but have differences as well. If you enjoyed Leviathan you will probably enjoy Neptune. 

Even though both Date A Live and Neptunia unrelated, there are many similar feelings: 1. The illustration itself is done by Tsunako, who did both Date A Live and Neptunia. 2. Both of them involving celestial beings. Date A Live has Spirits, while Neptunia has Goddesses. 3. Both of them have cute girls. Also, the character Tohka of DAL reminds me a bit with Neptune from Neptunia. Both of them have purple color theme, have a cheerful personality but clueless, and both of them really love foods (in Neptune's case, her appetite tendency even more so in manga adaptation and official art). If you like Tsunako's artwork from DAL, then you also like Neptunia too. read more

"Hyperdimension Neptunia" and "Sega Hard Girls!" are meta-filled anime that base their universe off video games. If you enjoy a show that references the video game industry in some type of way, then you'll most likely want to check these out.  

SAO attempts to pass itself off as having a serious plotline with an added romance aspect, while Neptune is much more lighthearted. However, both series share a similar atmosphere in a game-inspired, futuristic universe, and characters in both series are often seen fighting off monsters and other enemies with swords, spells, etc. 

When the fanservice kicked in, Neptunia reminded me of a similar title with the same amount of humor, plot and setting. Dog Days and Neptunia can both be watched fairly easily without being bored for a few episodes. While I don't expect much romance in Neptunia, there is in Dog Days, which adds to some of the fun. Both series seem to bring up the feeling of fun with the viewer, which mostly works with both series. There is at least some sort of Leadership/Monarchy going on in Neptunia, which is also strong in Dog Days. Definitely not the best of plots, but with enough comedy to keep it interesting. read more
