If you like one of them you may like the other one. The action is similar and both animes have some kind of organization who trying to make human superweapons by using weird power sources to dominate the world, parasites and "Akira" (psychic power). I think if you like psychological animes you will like Akira more and BAOH if you like animes where the victim are on the good side and have a better personality.

Both anime involve a protagonist who is being held hostage by scientists for research purposes in order to transform them into weapons. Both characters are capable of morphing into a strong monster that kills other people. Genocyber and Baoh have demonstrated certain character links deep inside their personalities. They are also action-packed anime with plenty of violence and gore with a dark and bleak sci-fi tone. If you liked one, you'll like the other.

Both anime have main character that fights agains some sort of evil. Both main characters have som sort of alter ege, but while in Baoh Raihousha the main character changes into it, in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure main character summons it. Both are old school OVA with lot of violence, even gore. Both anime feature parasites that resists in human brain.

Both anime are based on manga written by Hirohiko Araki. Star Platinum's design is even similar to Baoh. While they both have different stories, they both focus on the main protagonist that uses a special superhuman ability to fight against powerful evil opponents that threaten the world. The biggest difference between the two is that the main protagonist in Baoh transforms into a superhuman monster to fight against evil while in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders, the main protagonist uses Stands. If you like one, you should enjoy the other.

Both Boah and The Guyver came out in the late 1980's with similar animation and atmosphere. In both anime, the main protagonist takes on a superpower from another life form that takes over the host and gives them superhuman powers. Both are action-packed anime, filled with violence and gore. If you liked one, you'd like the other.

Both '80s OVAs feature a reticent young man with superhuman abilities who graphically and brutally murders his attackers.

The main character is just a ordinary guy until suddenly he became a supernatural being with supernatural powers. If you ask me is the show gory I would tell you yes my friend

Classic vibe of 80s action movies. Similar art, similar music, similar style. Rough, gory, heroic. Human body's durability and abilities get far beyond the limits

In both Baoh and Xam'd: Lost Memories, the main character is transformed into a superhuman monster by a shape-altering life form. Both anime's main protagonists utilize their superhuman talents to confront formidable evil opponents while struggling to retain their humanity. The main difference between the two is that Baoh is far more violent and far older than Xam'd: Lost Memories. If you like one, you might like the other as well.

Both are action anime where an evil organization hold capture some sort of superhumans, where one of them escapes and is fighting against said organization. Both are extremly violent, even gory, but also shows some bonds between characters. While Baoh Raihousha is more shounen, Elfen Lied is more psychological.
