The story is of a boy Osakabe who saved a fairy and as a way of saying thank you gets a wish granted. The wish he takes is "cute childhood girlfriend". He gets his wish granted with the fairy transforming his male childhood friend Iori Osanai into a girl.

But Iori doesn't really feel like being a woman so he manages to turn back into a man by proclaiming "I am a man". This works unless he is consciously reminded that he's a girl.

That's the whole story.

The same schtick of Iori turns into a girl, something happens, he can't transform back, manages to transform back and ... transforming into a girl in the last panel again happens every of the 40 chapters with only the last few ones not. The real joy of reading a chapter wasn't actually the chapter, but the hilarious meta-commentary of the scanlation group after it.

This is why I feel like this is such a missed opportunity. The premise is there, the manga even explored at the end what it could achieve, where it could go, with Iori being forced to live in a world where he is and always was a girl. That lasted for exactly 3 chapters before the manga reverted back to the normal programme.

You could have him accept being a girl, being so muscle pumped he cannot become one, get ultra gender dysphoria from the transformations etc, etc..., but the manga does nothing of the sort and just rehashes the same thing over and over ad nauseam.

The art is pretty cute tho

This is a fun little story to read. Nothing ground breaking, Just something to read to get some humor.

3 things i want to mention that bugged me.

1. The fact that even after the MC gets turned into a girl by his friend. The MC still is friends with him. I in all honesty would love for the MC to be like no i hate you now or something along those lines.

2. This one ties in with the 3rd. But the story has a female childhood friend ( Can't remember her name ) But she is the one that i feel should be shipped with the ... MC. They are honestly an adorable couple and would make sense for these two to get together than with the guy who changed the MC into a female.

3. There was this interesting thing near the end. Everyone forgot that the MC was originally a boy. The MC's female childhood friend is one of the only ones to remember. I think it may have been interesting for the story to end with only the two of them and the fairies to the only ones to remember.

Fun story. Recommend you don't take this seriously.

Osananajimi wa Onnanoko ni Naare has a one-note premise, and it repeats the same joke for the entire story. It's not that it's really bad, but it lasts for a mere 40 chapters and, even then, overstays its novelty. It's an unimaginative story, through and through.

The most accurate review of this manga comes about the end of chapter 17. At the end of each chapter, a scene is redone with a different, self-referential joke. In this case, a boy is depicted as saying, "haha! Bullying and sexual harassment! Classic!" This is, in essence, the humour of the entire story, and it wears thin very quickly.

Lastly, ... this manga failed to distract me from something I'm actually very good at ignoring: feminist concerns. Generally, I'm happy with, "live and let live". However, my first concern was that there was a man who was being forced to be a woman. Gender dysphoria instantly came to mind.
It's obvious none of the concerns of feminism are alive or well inside the mind of this manga's author. Trans concerns are just as inconsequential as bodily autonomy and sexual stereotypes.

Overall, the manga was boring and problematic. Nothing to write home about, no huge complaints. Just give it a pass, unless you have an hour or two you'd be happy wasting.

It's a good comic; if it wasn't a good comic, then I wouldn't have read it. (this is my first time reviewing)

There's a lot of positives in the story; it's supposed to be a comedy, gag, fanservice, genderbender, and romance manga that revolves around Shuuichi's friend Iori, who turns into a girl in the most inopportune times. The cause of troubles and trials for Iori came from a fairy, who was then saved by Shuuichi from drowning in the lake. The fairy grants Shuuichi's wish of having a girl childhood friend, but the wish was unexpectedly cast at Iori. The result ... came hilarious scenarios in which Iori would turn into Shiori (the girl version) in the most inconvenient times. The story was comedic, but simple. The art was pretty decent as well. Characters are okay in my opinion. But the plot and the scenarios in which Iori was stuck in made me laugh really hard; in simple, I enjoyed it a lot.

But there is still drawbacks in this manga. After binge reading this whole manga, the concept of Iori turning into Shiori was beaten too much to death in the end. The ending chapters seemed to promise a great ending, but I was disappointed by the way it ended, it just didn't seem right. Shiori acts like a real tsundere, which if you watch and read a lot of anime and manga, it gets tiring real quick. There is also plotholes in the manga, but since this is a comedy, I'll forgive that trespass.

I want to dedicate this paragraph to the big annoyances I have in this manga. First is Miyu's dad: why the heck is he so angry when Miyu brings in a friend that happens to be a boy? The second annoyance is in episode 17 of the manga, they almost crossed the line when it looked like it was harassment for Shiori, which was caused by the boys at the pool. But then again: a lot of manga do cross the line once in a while.

Overall, some of the jokes were cruel, but funny. I would recommend this short manga to anyone as a quick and hilarious comic to read in your spare time.

This manga is about a guy that is forcibly transformed into a girl multiple times every day.

What should you expect?
1. Light humor
2. Little to no drama
3. Lots of blushing for all you blushing connoisseurs

What not to expect?
1. Deep plot (or any plot really)
2. Character development
... 3. Drama
4. Good friends

There are no plot beats about feminism and/or transgender issues. If you want trans content, they exist in other manga.

My problem with this manga is how it didn't really explore the psychology behind being randomly and without warning transformed. Drama for the sake of drama is insulting, but realistically speaking there should be drama here for pete's sake. The whole premise is like a ball teetering on the edge of a slide. You're waiting for that ball to roll so that the characters can finally get fleshed out. But this never happens. This lack of drama is what leads to the lack of sufficient character development in the MC and his friend.

In the end, it was a missed opportunity.

That being said, there is still a lot of blushing and embarrassing moments if you happen to be into those things.

Just enjoy it for what it is; a gender bend comedy with lots of blushing.
