Shin Angyo Onshi is the Korean Berserk. It is as simple as that. There are too many similarities to count, such as even the more superficial things like the lead, Munsu, being branded with a 'curse'. Few manga/manhwa can compare to Berserk in terms of art, but SAO even rivals Berserk in that area. Although Munsu looks... off at the start (similar to Guts in Berserk), the artist quickly became my favourite. For the sake of spoilers, I'll avoid going into detail, but I will say this: the structure of SAO as a series is VERY SIMILAR to Berserk and Munsu's personality / actions mirror Guts'. read more

The whole structure of these series is the same, firstly author introduce us to the main hero using some random stories from their present life and then start to dig in the past, revealing a true nature of main heroes. Banya and Munsu are quite similar, they're not defenders of justice and bother yourself save someone only if they feel like doing it. Art and combination of bloodshed and comedy brings these series together.

The main character in Shin Angyo Onshi is somehow very similar to the main character in Vagabond. Also both mangas are very detailed and realistic drawn. Another resemblance is that in Vagabond is described the path of the samurai - the elite and the most powerful warriors of their time, and in Shin Angyo Onshi there are secret warriors, that are respected for their skills.

Both protagonists have a tragic past, which you are introduced to in flashbacks as the story profresses. They were once powerful heroes who fought in wars for their country, against armies of evil and twisted beings. However, they were betrayed by people they trusted, and journey through their respective countries that have now fallen to ruin, seeking revenge. Both of these heroes had lost strength they once had, but Koinzell from Ubel Blatt returns with new powers and is able to use his own power to fight. Munsu from Shin Angyo Onshi suffers from a disease that permanently weakens him, and later relies mostly on read more

Both are supernatural adventure mangas that take place in historic Korea. The main character in both mangas is a tough guy tied down by his past in some way. The story lines in the mangas are epic and original. With either manga you read you don't lose! XD

Crazy occult stuff with a similar tragic background.

Both have warfare involved. While Kingdom fights against humans, Shin Angyo Onshi fights against demons.

Both involve a war against a demonic race and have similar art styles.

Shin Angyo Onshi (SAO) and Blade of the Immortal (BotI) are manga that are set in the past. There is plenty of fighting, suspense, adventure, and a great deal of gore. The main character involves a duo composed of a girl and a man, both parties seeking revenge. These stories aren't for the faint of heart, due to some mature themes like sexual assault or murder. If you like reading fighting manga with a little bit of fantasy, I recommend reading SAO first, and if you enjoy it, it's a given that you'll like BotI too.

Fighting against a god like antagonist, good action, and spice of romance. Reunions with old allies and having enemies as friends eventually are common to both. Flashbacks included.

Both manhwas witch epic fight scenes, great art and awesome characters. Shaman warrior is really underrated.

Both take place in the medieval Asia era and both are pretty badass. The main protagonists of each story are both defenders of the people, and are also very similar personality-wise in their negative attitudes towards what they do. Akaboshi feels a lot like a shonen version of Shin Angyo Onshi.

An all-consuming need for vengeance after the leads lose their homeland, lover, and everything else due to the betrayal of friend(s); taking place many years later. Good deeds are mixed with seeking revenge. The Count of Monte Cristo is THE ultimate revenge saga, and the manga adaptation is surprisingly excellent given the short length compared to the novel.

Each of these manga deals with an epic adventure with a protagonist, who against the odds, fights against an absolute evil. Shin Angyo Onshi is more of a historical story involving Korea and 20th Century Boys is more based on current times involving Japan. ^_^

Both manhwa are written by Youn In-Wan, and illustrated by Yang Kyung-Il.

The sort of (to the characters) impossible to tell if they are truly good or bad organizations in Black God give a very similar feel here for a while, and the greater and greater emergence of magic makes this feeling even more similar.

Set in a context of fantasy, both series engage us in the journey of a powerful individual.

+ Both have the premise of an undercover male protagonist seeking out corrupt rulers in an Imperialist setting with a female companion
+ Heavily influenced & based upon various East Asian folk tales
+ Aestheticism plays a significant role in a majority of scenes
+ Similar plot development

- Very little romantic development in Shin Shunkaden (Shun)
- ShinShun is noticeably shorter than Shin Angyo Onshi (Angyo), hence less adventuring
- ShinShun puts the female protagonist in the spotlight, while the reverse is true for Angyo
- ShinShun is a shoujo, while Angyo is noticeably seinen, with a much darker tone overall
